I remember going camping one year in early December. It was on some relatively remote crown land in Northern Ontario with no cell reception. and no one likely to come around to help. I went to bed for the night and the next morning I woke up to that weather. I spent 2 days digging, pushing, and swearing trying to get back onto public roads... snow is no joke when you're not expecting it and not prepared for it.
Melanie Nagy I don’t mind driving in snow (have old all-seasons on an Impala) as my car is heavy and actually does well. The part I HATE is hitting slush! That stuff will pull anything all over the road😡
What’s the problem? learned to drive in this when growing up in Buffalo. My first time was on snowy roads at night. No anti lock brakes, no traction control, no AWD. Just a good set of snow tires on the drive wheels-rear of course. Keep your distance, easy on the gas, easy on the brakes. We go anywhere 😜
@Steve/Beth You realize the snow we got is very rare right? Most snow we've got in Feb in the last 70 years. Why would anyone in Seattle buy snow tires for 2 inches of snow per winter? Wake up
Had a 90 civic on all seasons and went up some steep hill in the snow but that car was pretty light 2400 lbs with driver, a big SUV would probably struggle on that same hill
i think that dude had a yard man snowblower. they work great for lots of snow. two speed reverse with a granny gear, locking rear axle five speed forward.electric start or pull. and its got nuts. really liked it.
We have to appreciate in every aspect of life n Mother Nature.. be patient and humble.. every hard life obstacles there is worst one.. we will get through.. peace from Burnsville MN....
In the Province of Quebec (Canada) snow tires are mandatory. And I agree with D San. Slow down, keep lots of room in front, do not brake, if you slide drive into the slide and do not overcorrect. I remember having a big block rear wheel drive car in my youth (17) and had at least 200 pds of salt and sand in the trunk. Now AWD makes a great difference. I now drive a medium size SUV (2017) and still see the guy’s roar buy with their 4 x 4 pickups to found in the ditch a short while after. Sloooooow
It can also damage your windshield! My friend works at a Honda dealership and he says if the wind is strong enough it will knock down the wiper arms and hit the windshield really hard and crack it! He’s seen it dozens of times.
@tim Forbrook lol. I probably already do with all the taxes I pay. Oh, by the way, all wheel drive is NOT the same as four wheel drive -- but, by your comment, you know it all... (ugh!)…
@@panagiotisf7228 take your Civic and put the best snow tire on it, then video you going in 15" of snow. We'll wait. Then, you can view my videos of my AWD even with good all season tires (General Altimax RT43, and I also have videos of my snow tires too) which the RT43 is rated good for snow, and watch me go with no issues, and I'll watch you struggle in 6" 💁🙋
cool my aunt & uncle live in Adams NY!! all that snow makes me miss NY in the wintertime!! i’m originally from the carthage area, but moved out of NY about 20 yrs, currently live in South Central Ky. i’m telling ya ppl down here can’t handle when it snows!! they cancel school down here for 2” of snow, yes 2”!! they make me lmao!!
Tug hill plateau. East of lake Ontario. Got like 200" in 3 weeks. It was crazy. I live just south on south Shore of Oneida lake. We only got maybe a foot or so. In same time span. It was cranking up to 4" an hour. That was heaviest I recall them getting in my 52yrs on planet. It made national news. And weather channel did a special on it.
we have had snow every year in all northern countries and yet we still have no solution to keeping roads clear. we should be well past this mess every winter, just needs some investigation and people clubbing together to keep roads clear. when in my 20's and home from uni there were a good number of 20-30 year olds living on same street when it snowed we cleared the road. i live on a hill then and it was vital it was kept clear. other people in the area then did same with their roads. yes a bit of hard work for a few hrs but it did us all good.
I live in Edinburg NY,we get big snows up here and i still drive a 2 wheel drive Toyota Tacoma and i dont even have snow tires on it! Its all about momentum and control,if you know how to drive, you all good,if not stay home!
What was the point of taking snow off the top of their cars for when all you need to do is make sure all your windows are clear and you can see out of them. Weird. Haven't they heard of full heat on aircon whilst driving. Mmmm! never mind must take the snow off top of the car before driving it. If it was an emergency vehicle I would see the point of it.
In some states it is the law that says snow and ice must be removed from car before driving or you can be fined being that ice or snow can fall off of car hurt a pedestrian or cause material damage. Of course many people do not care and will not do it. I understand it can be à pain in the rear.
You can do without, but if you leave a pile of snow on the top -If powder, it is going to leave the drivers behind you without visibility as soon as you can speed up to 30 mph (not too big of a deal) -if it's compact enough to stay on top, a thin layer will melt at the contact surface with the roof, once your interior is heating up. The whole pile could slide onto your windshield at the first stronger deceleration, then you'd have to get out in the middle of the road to clear it up
In Japan, its a legal requirement to change to Winter tyres from October until the end of March. If you fail to do so, your car is taken away and crushed. America has so much to learn, its a joke 🤣
The weather outside is so delightful, let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let it Snow ! Thumbs Up, and Happy Saturday also.

Oh how I hate snow, and especially driving in it. I can not wait for spring.

Lived in that weather many years. Greetings from Florida; no snow but cold.

I drove my 2017 Camaro ss with blizzaks no issues all about tires and driver.
@@dude4173 this is the new normal
Yeah, i hear ya. I be driving past dozens of cars in the ditch with my old 79 Ford with em old fashion skinny bog tires on the rear.

Such a cool snow i love it :)
Come to Bavaria or Austria and you can see a really hard strong winter land.
I heard that having the wiper blades pointing up like I noticed in the beginning will eventually damage the spring of the blades.
It can also damage your windshield! My friend works at a Honda dealership and he says if the wind is strong enough it will knock down the wiper arms and hit the windshield really hard and crack it! He’s seen it dozens of times.
Don’t look too bad, if you have snow tires that should be manageable. Those are pretty typical winter driving conditions where I live.
This is why I don’t work in the winter. I’m a long haul trucker. But weather like this and I’m parked. No money is worth risking my life.
Keep em coming -makes me appreciate living in central Texas!
😆
I enjoy the hurricanes tornadoes hail and floods you get ! Keep them coming spring is only a few months away ya stupid hillbilly .
Toopy Anne Binoo actually i live in a $500,000 house and the weather is very benign here lol
adirondacktrail yes you kinda got me on that one-since i like my plants and garden so much -oh well (sigh)!
Snow tires and all wheel drive, snow tires and all wheel drive, snow tires and... nope, they don't get it... lol.
Dont need awd just snow tires.
@tim Forbrook lol. I probably already do with all the taxes I pay. Oh, by the way, all wheel drive is NOT the same as four wheel drive -- but, by your comment, you know it all... (ugh!)…
@tim Forbrook they are not the same and spend money on something important like good tires for you're car
@tim Forbrook lmao AWD is not the same as 4WD

One good thing about snow we get is it kills all the germs in the air and real boys play in the snow
You never heard how they freeze Bacteria, etc?
finally a normal snow storm in CNY
right? upstate ny winters are often overlooked and underestimated
I live in Vancouver BC thank God
Probably just a normal autumn day in Svalbard.
They get pounded up on the Tug Hill for sure! I'll take Central New York's snow over tornados or hurricanes any day of the week!
Having dealt with two feet of snow in 7 days here in WA this week, I would never ever live in BUffalo, or any area impacted by the lake effect in NY.
