By not taking strong action against Dijona the league is inviting every team to take more and more vicious attacks on CC. This is physical and mental abuse. Nobody is accusing of her doing it purposely? I AM! That was the act of a sociopath. It was certainly intentional. She reconfigured the shape of her hand to drive the nails into Caitlin's eyes. One year suspension starting before the next game or permanent out of the league. A greater problem is complicit officiating. That crew should be suspended also. Clean it up. By not taking strong action against Dijona the league is inviting every team to take more and more vicious attacks on CC. This is physical and mental abuse. It is not acceptable and someone in a position of authority to make it known that this kind of deliberate maiming will not be tolerated. At this point, it seems like a lawyer might want to talk with Engelbert about potential personal liability for her and the league. The next "accident" that blinds CC , or any other player, will use this video in court. The WNBA will either be able to say they took these steps to make sure that intentional injury will not be tolerated, claws will not be tolerated. Or they will be able to say it didn't seem intentional, DC said it was not intentional, who would ever try to intentionally hurt another player. I see the biggest legal award in the history of professional sport on the horizon. Or a professional sports league cleaning up a mess of their own making and starting to really become professional.
