Coming back to this song again. This is one of those songs that never ages, no matter how much your taste in music changes, you can always come back to this song and feel the same emotions you felt the first time listening to it. I get so emotional each time listening to this, it's like getting a hug from someone followed by a few pats on the back. It's warm, comforting - secure. I love this song so much. My interpretation of this video is that we see some very big things as unimportant or small. An example of where we can see this, is with the elephants in the carpet. The guy is just vacuuming the carpet unaware of the elephant herd crossing the carpet. This is a metaphor for the fact that we do normal things everyday, such as vacuuming, unaware that elephants and many other animals are becoming endangered. Another example of this message I interpreted, is with the bike cycling in front of a war zone. We ride our bikes often, again this is another normal activity, unaware that whilst we're enjoying ourselves, wars are happening across the World.
I think Coldplay are telling us that we need to start appreciating what we have and need to start taking action on what we could possibly lose, if we don't act fast enough.

I listened to all of Coldplay albums throughout the years and I realized something: Recently people criticized Coldplay for being too commercial, too poppy or something like that, but it's just because they move on. When you're young in your 20s you tend to like sad, dark music, then you grow up, you find somebody to love and settle down, you have kids and you see the world a brighter place, and you make more upbeat and uplifting music as you want to cheer people up. Coldplay also said in an interview with The Strait Times (Singapore) that Coldplay had many non-commercial songs but they're not so "commercial". So that's people's choice. For my part I always love them no matter what.
Chris in an interview once said, they did a lot of non commercial songs, it's just not popular cuz it wasn't commercialized, lol. Funny guy.
