    super nice demo, i sometimes use carbon sticks too. I personally do NOT like wooden sticks. My MAIN sticks are Ahead S7A Mudvaynes...they are unbreakable and ive never even had to yet replace the sleeves...ive had them for 15 years...the same pair !!!

    Stick durability can be increased with technique alterations. Of the wood sticks, I find vic girth the longest lasting.

      Try at least 1 pair of Techra. You will see the difference of durability. Thank you for watching the video.

    I use solid nylon drumsticks and they last for hundreds of hours. The hi-hat really eats them up though. It causes them to shed small nylon particles all over your kit and the floor. So make sure you clean up with a can of air every so often. They are the same weight and dimensions of wooden sticks, but produce about half the volume making them great for practicing in places you wanna keep somewhat quiet. They still produce plenty of sound though.

    Am sure you are aware of, but worth repeating. Impact strong enough to fatigue/break a stick is transferred directly to the limb with a similar effect. Be sure to remind your young watchers.

      Greetings James Connors. I understand what you're saying because I've tested several type of carbon drumsticks. Buy a pair of Techra and let me know if its the same effect. Because i keep my wrist healthy and safe and i practice everyday.

    Great comparison. The carbon ones definitely seem to sound just a little bit brighter but only marginally. How much of a difference do you find the rubber vibration dampeners to make? I have some problems with my hands so anything that would make the sticks more comfortable is a big plus for me.

    • @francisfernandezcappola
      @francisfernandezcappola  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Brendan, thank you. Well, i've been playing with Carbon Drumsticks since 2008 and i think I've tried all of them. In my opinion the sound is more bright only on the ride cymbal and some other small details if you use only the tip of the drumstick, it’s sound like you played with wood drumsticks and nylon tips. About the vibration, i used some brands in the past, that really break your wrists while you were playing, but the latest Techra model, which is used by the *GOD Virgil Donati* , is peferct in all aspects: Balance, weight, sound and stiffness. Try Techra you won’t regret.

    Would you do a comparison against all CF sticks? Kuppmen vs Techra perhaps? Maybe some of the Vic Firth or ProMark offerings?

    • @francisfernandezcappola
      @francisfernandezcappola  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did, but i haven't filmed. I can't compare this latest Techra Drumsticks with wood drumsticks. What i can tell you is that after 100 hours of playing with Techra you still have the same stiffness and maybe 1 mm less of diameter. Do yourself a favor, buy just one pair of Techra to be sure of what im saying and to save money.

      @@francisfernandezcappola Amateur drummer here, so I can't say much for playtime. However, I do hang around street drummers a lot and I've found that wood sticks are pretty much tissue in the rain, especially with rim shots. It's gotten them to the point where they switched to CF sticks - however due to availability they run mostly Kuppmen CF sticks. They simply don't want to burn through a pack of Vic Firth or ProMark wood for the evening.
      They let me play on their kits and I cannot tell the difference between wood and CF, until the wooden sticks get soaked. Carbon sticks it is for me.

    i dont trust neither carbon or nylon tips . the stick marks turn ur ride cymbals unmusical because the buildup of those very unmusical materials in the grooves of the ride turns it to crp. wood is natural and is musical in itself. probably helps turn the cymbal a little more mellow. wood tip all the way

    • @360.Tapestry

      since carbon fiber is very rigid, i think there's less dampening to the cymbals. if that is the case, you actually hear more of the cymbals
