TimeBandit First of All Susano is a hard counter to Thana so in that matchup Thana is likely to lose and if you have a bit of defence Susano can't 100-0 you unless you don't know how to counter him. He is a high mobility squishy assassin who is A/A+ tier at max. This is coming from a Thana main with 1.2k worshippers and 1.2k kills

I'd argue regrowth is just as good as it was in s3 for him. The health is generally better early on as it works against the mid laners as well as junglers/ adcs / solos etc. And 20% CDR is huge for him. More executes, more 1/2 health scythes, more kills. The loss of power wasn't all too important. Considering his base damages, 10% CDR is generally more effective than 30 power for him early on. A bit of extra MS and some HP5 for even more sustain, sign me up.

Thana was the first god I ever bought and my first dimond. I remember playing him in arena with bloodforge and crit and being a complete monster late game and I got my first penta with him in the added round back in the underworld version of arena. (the fact that I was new to the game and playing against new players prob helped me out a lot). Still love playing him either tanky or as a burst assassin with a sick execute

So I just got back to playing Smite a few weeks ago after not playing since May 2016. I'm mostly adjusted to the new meta and gods but I'm getting the same feeling I got when I stopped before. I just don't seem to be improving and I feel I'm just not that good in general. It's kind of hard to learn when everyone in any form of ranked play gets toxic and flames team mates instead of trying to guide them in the right direction and correct their gameplay. An idea for a new series could be for people like me to send in clips of them playing and you could review them and point out what they did wrong and how to correct it. Sir Zippington you gotta find friends in the community or recruit already made friends to play smite with and whenever you play you can team up and you begin to all get good together and know eachothers playstyles

i've seen people early s3 using the same tactic vs tanks..not to say that spl ppl came up with it, its just that they made it clear to the majority of smite players that that can be done. but anyone with the least clue would figure that out lol he has high damage on abilities with pen on his mov speed ability, he can basic and ability down squishies, so where would you use your ult? to escape, or to kill opponents that can be brought low but cant really easily be killed, hence tanks. what i would say, what people didnt realize is how quickly he can get towards threshold targets in his ult/2. that really makes him a whole dif level of a god, if used well.
As someone who started playing SMITE towards the end of S2, it still boggles my mind that he was played at Worlds. He was a laughing stock for so long!
All my ranked games result in Than being banned for a good reason. He's OP as fuck. You get him to 25% health and he just gets it all back before you can blink. If that doesn't work he just ults away like the bitch he is. I honestly don't know how you find him weaker than other assassins...
It really depends on who he's facing, who's backing him up and how you approach him. Like Duke said, avoid early aggression and he'll fall off hard if you avoid giving him kills, as his wave clear is lackluster. Though, a fed Thani is more or less immortal if building defensively,
TrebleDogs it depends on the meta , I suggest to build at the beginning death toll and bumbas you should try to make what you like and try to build for the situation but items for thana is strong to have hearthseeker or shield of regrow but you should build what you like

Michael Gutierrez i go for warrior, hydras, heartseeker, shild of reg, titans bane and spirit robe ( or another power item if needed) the hardest part of thanatos build is not overcapping flat pen, or pen on squishy. remember thet nost god go around 50/60 protection end game, so you need around 40 pen (plus tb ) to do full damage. well, i simply dont like to overcap, but some dont relay on his two and prefere more pen so. your choise
I build thana with warrior tabi > Hydras > Jotunns > Heartseeker > Urchin> Titans bane. And I am able to ult in to a full health god, basic attack him to proc hydras and stack heartseeker, my 1 then basic attack then my 3 and basic attack, if he/she is not dead then I can easily chase him/her down with my 2. And this combo can 100% to 0% any god that is not tanky, such as assasin, adc, mage. Their only salvation from this combo is to buy aegis early and pop it after the stun from my ult ends but that will still bring them to less than half health so I can still chase them down.
hey plz make a video about when to retreat. i often think im gonna survive but i still die. example: playing thanatos and i am low health. see a targeted god and try to execute him even tho i am low health. he aegis at last second and the ult team focus me down. or try execute a god they dash/jump at the last second i am out of position and thana have no escape ;)
Thanatos is so strong in casuals. His zoom zoom potential is crazy you can disengage or chase at will. No matter how you build him he chunks people and isn't impossibly hard to play (what god in Smite really is tho?)

I think that the issue with thanatos isn't that he's op, but that he punishes people for frontlining and building tanky. 40% health is super easy to get to late game when hunters are critting left and right and mages have giant burst ults. From the perspective of a support/solo laner, thanatos is bs.

try this build on thana bumba's and deathtoll rush masamune then boots, stone cutting sword, hasted katana souleater, any item(executionor, bloodforge, hydra)
Insane you have to clear camps at lvl one with adc, if you dont want to miss out on minions in lane, bumba's is needed. Also, the extra health makes you that much tankier

For example, you used to be able to jump over Janus portals if you were going fast enough, but then Hi-Rez figured that out and patched it out. You can/could jump out of the fountain as Jing Wei to avoid the passive activating.
Richard Nava Jumping can also keep you from using abilities for a very brief period, as well as affecting your juking by reducing your control while you are in the air. No tactical advantages, other than to bait or taunt, but some disadvantages albeit very small ones.

Thanatos has always been good but so situational and with a high skill cap, now he is basically the top jungler with the passive buff a few months ago+ shield of regrowth+ jungle got hp boosted, and we all know how easy Thana clears and how strong he is early-mid, and still great lategame. I always liked him, and i don´t feel like he needs any direct nerfs to his kit, instead balance regrowth a bit, also heartseeker. If they nerf Thana directly, i think that might be too much for him. Just hit 1 which is one of the easiest skills to juke in the entire game, and his late game still great cause he has 40% hp execute, the 1 lategame is 40% hp of an squishy target, even more with heartseeker, and he has A LOT of movement speed mid to lategame, not saying if he can kill somebody he resets his cooldowns, go kill another squishy at 700 speed, reset cds, and that´s it! Believe it or not, Thana is hard cause anybody with a bit of brain knows if Thana fails his 1, he is an easy target. What makes him so strong right now is the early jungle clear and fights, where he excels so much, and his ridiculous mov with regrowth
I'm kinda confused did he just said that thanatos cannot 100 to 0 you quickly? Am I missing something, dude he does so much damage that it is hilarious. This is my build with him that I usually use in every game sometimes I tweak it a little bit. Warrior tabi, Titans Bane, Jotuns wrath, blood forge, asi or hastened fatalis ( I now prefer fatalis because of that pen they gave now) and in the end stone cutting sword. First you will do ridiculus amount of damage second you will be so god damn fast late game your 2 becomes somewhat of an escape.
When I first tried smite I used crit on him but was inconsistent with his kit especially his 1 and 3 with this not only its so easy to chase ( with ult or simply by having a crap ton of movement speed) but deal consistent damage with basic attacks and a huge damage with abilities.
I think what really happened, is that he wasnt changed at all from s1 to s4 while other gods were.. That makes him somewhat lapsed in comparison to some recent releases, and other gods that are receiving constant changes. Basically hes too old, and the playstyle that he had in s1 does not aply to current meta at all. Thats comepletely my opinion ofc, since I got him to diamond in s1 quite easily, and now I just dont understand how did I do it, hes so useless. Also what really makes me upset is that HireZ changed his description from "hard" to "average", while he is the hardest assasin to be good at.
sibiris I haven't played S1 smite, but from what I've heard, Anubis and Zeus suffer from the same thing: burst gods with 0 mobility, but at least they are mages. They should change Thanatos' 2 with a leap or something.That will make him more viable as an assassin

Tbh, I went for thana mostly because of the looks at first, now im just sad I dont find him fun to play anymore. Kinda jumped to serquet or nemesis as my go to assasins. And because I dont like susanos art, I only played him once or twice.
3456Terminator Ao Kuang really struggles in this meta because of its early game focus. If Ao makes it to late game, he is the same threat that he has always been, but since his early game is poop, he has a harder time making it to that point.
Thanatos died when susano came out because why play a skill shot god when you can slam your Forehead on the key board and kill 5 people

His ult also makes a lot of sense, reapers are supposed to only kill those who are near-death

Tank Thana build in late s3 was barely ever used,he was built heavy burst with hydras,regrowth,bloodforge being core.

Thanatos has always been good but so situational and with a high skill cap, now he is basically the top jungler with the passive buff a few months ago+ shield of regrowth+ jungle got hp boosted, and we all know how easy Thana clears and how strong he is early-mid, and still great lategame. I always liked him, and i don´t feel like he needs any direct nerfs to his kit, instead balance regrowth a bit, also heartseeker. If they nerf Thana directly, i think that might be too much for him.

The only problem with thana is he always tended to fall off really hard late game at least if you got behind
Just hit 1 which is one of the easiest skills to juke in the entire game, and his late game still great cause he has 40% hp execute, the 1 lategame is 40% hp of an squishy target, even more with heartseeker, and he has A LOT of movement speed mid to lategame, not saying if he can kill somebody he resets his cooldowns, go kill another squishy at 700 speed, reset cds, and that´s it! Believe it or not, Thana is hard cause anybody with a bit of brain knows if Thana fails his 1, he is an easy target. What makes him so strong right now is the early jungle clear and fights, where he excels so much, and his ridiculous mov with regrowth

I'm kinda confused did he just said that thanatos cannot 100 to 0 you quickly? Am I missing something, dude he does so much damage that it is hilarious. This is my build with him that I usually use in every game sometimes I tweak it a little bit. Warrior tabi, Titans Bane, Jotuns wrath, blood forge, asi or hastened fatalis ( I now prefer fatalis because of that pen they gave now) and in the end stone cutting sword. First you will do ridiculus amount of damage second you will be so god damn fast late game your 2 becomes somewhat of an escape.

When I first tried smite I used crit on him but was inconsistent with his kit especially his 1 and 3 with this not only its so easy to chase ( with ult or simply by having a crap ton of movement speed) but deal consistent damage with basic attacks and a huge damage with abilities.
I think what really happened, is that he wasnt changed at all from s1 to s4 while other gods were.. That makes him somewhat lapsed in comparison to some recent releases, and other gods that are receiving constant changes. Basically hes too old, and the playstyle that he had in s1 does not aply to current meta at all. Thats comepletely my opinion ofc, since I got him to diamond in s1 quite easily, and now I just dont understand how did I do it, hes so useless. Also what really makes me upset is that HireZ changed his description from "hard" to "average", while he is the hardest assasin to be good at.
sibiris I haven't played S1 smite, but from what I've heard, Anubis and Zeus suffer from the same thing: burst gods with 0 mobility, but at least they are mages.
They should change Thanatos' 2 with a leap or something.That will make him more viable as an assassin
sibiris I would say if u want to play to max potential susano would be the hardest assasin, thats coming from a thana main. I still play him often, i can still oneshot ad much as i like :P
Tudor Ciubotaru I see what you mean but he flies. Hard to justify a leap on a god who doesn't even touch the ground in the first place
Tbh, I went for thana mostly because of the looks at first, now im just sad I dont find him fun to play anymore. Kinda jumped to serquet or nemesis as my go to assasins. And because I dont like susanos art, I only played him once or twice.
Thanatos is one of the top assassins in conquest casuals and ranked.

3456Terminator Ao Kuang really struggles in this meta because of its early game focus. If Ao makes it to late game, he is the same threat that he has always been, but since his early game is poop, he has a harder time making it to that point.
