    Right on that looked like a great day 👍 the Newfie 5.0 auger work good and much cheaper the the one's from the store. And lunch looked good and the one with some burnt was probably better 😂

    Go on b’y. All I ever used for kettles is a empty can of stewed tomatoes with a bit of rabbit wire. Good for almost three cups. Lol.

    I have a few kettles that i have collected and used over the years. They have been replaced by my Kelly Kettle. I do take a regular kettle sometimes but raely use it. Kelly Kettle and attachments have been the best thing. Water boils within a couple of minutes.

    I always keep a zip-lock bag full of steel wool in my pack just in case for emergency fire. Light to carry around and could save your life when you are freezing and everything else around is soaked.

      Most definitely worth having in your pack for sure and can also be lit with a battery if a lighter is unavailable

      Yes sir... used piece of snare wire and the battery out of my flashlight before. Couple times now, but not for survival just showing my buddy's or teaching the young fellows. @@newfiecountryboyoutdoors6523

    Another nice clip, I’ve been out fishing here too around the Deer Lake area and everyone I talk with is saying the fishing is really slow, hopefully it picks up, dandy auger bud

    It does take a lot of magnesium to be any use, at least a pile the size of a loonie, and it's still not great. I'd rather just pack some birch bark or pine resin for emergencies. Cool video, I couldn't help but wonder what "start a fire with my snowshoes" meant!

    • @newfiecountryboyoutdoors6523
      @newfiecountryboyoutdoors6523  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks and I agree my go too is birch bark. I was told the snow shoe was fire starter so I had to give it a go lol I’ve used magnesium before but these shoes are definitely not lol. Thanks for watching

    Awesome video. Things don't always go as you would like but a bad day in the great outdoors is better than the best day at the office.

    Hey there! Is that dough you used to make those jiggers, is it like bannock? Or normal bread dough? Looks so darn good. Especially the one a bit dark.

    Yup, ya need a LOT of magnesium, and as fine of a dust as ya can scrape, to get it to light... And something much hotter than those matches to light it(sparks off a good ferro rod are verry hot) but its still a bitch to use, it can blow away with just a ferro rod strike. thats why ya never see anyone thats ever tried to use one ever carry one of the mag bars with a ferro rod on it. Good way to freeze to death.
    Looks like a nice channel, enjoyed the video, might stick around a bit(visiting from Chucks Everything Outdoors where I saw you comment)

    Loved this video. Doing great with the GoPro. I have a kettle that can be used for perked coffee or tea. I'll send pics. Got it at Mercer's. Great and small to put in knap sack. I bring it on my hikes. Great footage Robert...keep the videos coming
