Contented Simplicity. Life is short. Live it one blink at a time. I have an inverter in my van, a bed, a one burner grill, a dog, and a cooler. conveniences are ALWAYS close by. Love the Carolina Coast. And Thanks to Bob Wells i have.....a million dollar view at no charge. Thanks for the push.
I am almost 66 and spinning my wheels. I can't make enough money to build savings and I am very unhappy where I am. I stumbled on Bob's videos and was inspired to dream. I always loved travelling and couldn't do it in my later years because of poverty. I will be quitting my job next month and finish prepping to become a vehicle dweller to travel the West at my leisure on my small SS check. I have done the budget and educated myself. I have sold everything and I am purchasing what I need to thrive on the road complete with solar. I feel that I will be taking control of my life again and living it on my own terms. I am going to start out in a caravan so I can get my feet wet safely - thanks Bob for setting these up. If this is the new homelessness, at least I get to call the shots.
i am making my plan now to do same, i'm 66 too ~gonna research more on fridge/freezer, stove, solar and pottys ~ probably a van i think ~ so happy for you jan, rock on! : )
Bob is wise, calm, content and happy. He shares his knowledge and when he interviews people he really likes them and let’s them shine. He’s very cool. I call that succeeding at life. Bob is the type of American I really like. His you tube channel cheap RV living is the best.
I have been on the road 14 weeks now. One night I googled, cheap RV living and Bob's website came up. I started watching his videos and decided I wanted to do this. It's the best decision I ever made.
#BobWells from #cheapRVliving my mentor, my teacher.. I never thought that I was going to live in my van (2010 Ford transit connect) but after an accident I developed PTSD and some other issues; I have a professional background and I was working as an “IT” in one of the biggest international petroleum companies, but long story short I end up alone, my wife is divorcing me after 35 years of marriage, I lost the respect of all my kids, my friends and relatives abandoned me, so I end up sleeping in my cargo area and pushing all my belongings several times at night to have a good night sleep I woke up every morning so restless.. but I’ve found the founder of cheap RV living and wow!! What a life saver!! Now I have solar on my van’s roof, nearly 3000 solar power, a microwave, a stove, a freezer/fridge, a toilet, a bed, lots of storage everywhere.. I can use all my amenities inside my cargo area and even if rains, shine or snow I am stealth to the cities.. I camp everywhere and anywhere. Thanks uncle Bob Wells, my mentor.
I did 30 years as an over the road truck driver. I hitched across this country for years before that, back in the late 70's/early 80's. In the truck I only fueled up at truck stops and stayed at either rest areas or Walmarts or find me a spot out in the middle of nowhere if I could. I carried food and water with me. I had two Burton one burner stoves. And this was long before Coleman or Igloo started making the coolers that plugged in the cigarette lighter. The old cooler with the ice...lol. I loved it. I am going to be on a semi retirement in one month, but I plan on spending a lot of time off in the woods here in Illinois camping. I enjoy the freedom, the traveling and the outdoors of the nomad life. Right now, I am unable to do the traveling because of my wife's health issues, but the camping gets me outdoors. So, all of you....stay free.
The first video of Bob's I watched (maybe 2 yrs. ago?), I was hooked on doing this. It's been on my mind every day, ever since. I guess it helps that I'm retired now, as I'm not sure I could do it and work a 9-5 job - but many do! I'm about 2-3 mths. away from hittin' the road, and it gives me a really good feeling. Thank you Bob!
I first found one of Bob's video series on a Snowbirds schedule and it changed my life trajectory. Now I'm on track to sell everything and convert a step van into a home on wheels. I get to retire early, travel the country and let my biggest asset feed me for a change.
This is so interesting seeing life through Bob's eyes. Watching Bob do a live stream with his phone is vastly different than what we see. KC is doing amazing work with the filming and coordination for the videos. Thank you for this behind the scenes peek into Bob's life, and nomads in general!
Bob, I so appreciate your work and commitment to the Nomad community. I've been watching you for several years now and continue to learn from each of you. Thanks for all your tips and being so open with your experience. Your interviews offer so many options. I'm so looking forward!
*Thank you Ben and David for doing this series, you guys did a wonderful job! My episode is just AWESOME 😊. If it weren't for Mr. Bob Wells, many nomads would feel alone and unsure. He's taking the negative stigma away from vehicle living. The more we share the lifestyle, the more community we can build.*
God Bless you, guys go to the country, rare chickens plant food because the time is coming when the government will want to control and enslave us. Take care, don't forget Jesus He is our only hope. (Whilst you can get seeds so you can use Gods gift to you, the earth to survive). He is a good Father.
A little more than two years ago I came across one of Bob Wells' videos on TH-cam. I started watching all his videos and others regarding living in a van. I moved out of my apartment, sold my stuff, moved in with my sister, paid off my bills and bought a van. I am now in the process of getting it ready to hit the road in early 2021.
I have been excited over many ambassadors of the smaller living types of lifestyles. Many favourites, Justin (Credible), Simon (finding), Chrome (VanCity), and Nate (element Vanlife)... and hadnt gotten much into this one.. But i am so Happy and thankful that Bob Wells exists. His powerful positivity is evident. He is a wonderful help, a lovely Person.
Bob Wells has done and continues to do a tremendous service to those people needing honest information, inspiration, encouragement and the confidence boost to help them to take charge of and to live their lives considerably better than they were.
Hey Bob ! Cheers from France I 've red your story in the newspaper "Courrier International " It makes me happy Thank you for this lesson of dignity and freedom
I just turned 67 and now have my van. Finally. I first found Bob's videos when I lived Hawai'i about 10 years ago give or take. As you all know Hawai'i is very expensive and I longed to have a better life. My wife passed away 4 years ago in Hawai'i and that set me free as I was her caregiver overworked underpaid not that mattered much so I moved to the mainland and to Pahrump, NV where I got to meet Bob at a HOWA Van Build. I got my van a 1995 Ford Conversion and now live full time in it. Thank You Bob for all the advice. I do run into him from time to time in town and he is always friendly and willing to say Hey How's It Going? Bob from the bottom of my heart I Thank You for everything you have taught me.
Thanks, Bob for all you have done, are doing and will do for the nomad tribe. Thanks for blessing all of us with your commonsense videos; they are extremely helpful.
Thank You So Much!. I'm 34 & Have a 95 Jeep. I've Decided to Live like This. Never Really Felt at Home in My City/Family!. Nomad Is Who I am at ❤️. I Love You All. ☮️
I've traveled a bit in three different types of rv's. The one I loved most was my old 1970's vw camper van. I'd say the best times me and my wife had was knocking around the south in it for three months. At the time we had no home, just the van. Best thing we ever did.
Oh my goodness you sure have a lot of people working with you and/ or on your staff to produce your videos which are excellent by the way! Kudos to everyone at Cheap RV Living! ❤
I'm so glad too, that you make all these videos. You make me less scared of the future. And, now that I'm getting older was so scared. I'm not anymore. I've realized I have always lived by a lot of your principles. I too can do this, and make a difference in people's lives. Thank you.
So, I'm listening to this guy's story and wondering, why does it sound so familiar? Then, 2 minutes in, I realize, I read his book! Word for word, this is how it starts! He wrote the first book I ever read on van life. It's so amazing to actually see what he looks like and actually hear him speak!
What she said.."less is more" 100%. As a musician this statement is core. As a person putting a footprint on the planet, same same. Less is more.... to enjoy life. At the core, do you need a house to enjoy a sunset, the beauty of the real world...nope. in fact working to support a house, things you dont need actually takes away from the very thing you might argue is important, your quality of life. Lol, as people sit in traffic, going to a gig they hate, to pay for crap they dont need, I wake up in the beauty of the real world with no schedule, other than to follow good weather and enjoy life. This life thing is NOT a dress rehearsal, there are no retakes..so make it the best you can now....the choice is yours..not societies idea of what your life should be.
A woman asked her pastor as she stormed out of church, “where was God when my son died”! The pastor had to think about this profound question parents ask when tragedy hits, but the pastor finally had the answer. “He was right where He was when His own Son died”. He can empathize & comfort us, He loves us. Look at the cross and know you are loved. God bless you.
This is a great series and so refreshing to see the negative stigma of 'van dwelling' slowly melting. Love Bob and his philosophies on life but my thoughts differ on contentment in that if you're discontent with your life you pick up and go where you're content ... you must be content with yourself wherever you are or you will be forever searching for it outside of yourself.
Love this video! Thanks so much for sharing your life with us and encouraging each person to live their dream and have a good life out on the road and in their car, truck, van, or RV!! Keep posting great and valuable content such as this!!
Yes, .... Bob Wells is the best, have really appreciated his videos.... I am not a van dweller or RVer, but would kinda like to be!! Would like to be debt free but am not yet, maybe one day. Mahalo for posting this video!
Bob has helped so many people. I live in a house, but I love watching his videos. I watch them as a plan B. His videos provide a possible escape route, for someone such as myself.. Having a house is a fairly big responsibility. The upkeep of a house is exhausting, (painting inside and out, foundation repairs, roofs, carpets, walls, ceilings, etc.). I just might end up joining the Nomad movement at some point.
Bob Wells is an Amazing Human Being for how much he has given back to the world with Cheap Rv Living, HOWA, RTR/WRTR... the list goes on. Thank You and the whole gang for all the good you are doing to the world...Hopefully in a year or 2 I can join you when my disability goes through...will take me a long time to drive cross country at 200 miles a day if I am lucky lol but the slow tortoise eventually get's there. Peace and Love !
Thank you for your gifts and sharing not only your story but your vast knowledge, understanding and compassion. I see this lifestyle in my future, so I am continually trying to learn as much as I can to prepare myself ! Thank you Bob , be well.
My first place 18 was a 78 dodge tradesman lol......Im rollin in a 2001 chevy coachman class b ..Never seen the same dirt twice.Hear ya about home Im here but everywhere.Tip ! Get a CB antenna for yout TV....
I really wish people would take a First Aid classes. I would add a small tablet and pen. To write down info. The who, what, where, when and why. The more info you have you can pass it on if need be.
My minivan with myself, 2 dogs and all my gear gets 21 MPG. Could get something a bit bigger but being on a fixed income, I would be limited by the fuel costs. Movement keeps my batteries charged no matter the weather and the solar keeps it all capped off while parked(with minimal sunlight). I do keep my home "camp" to come back to for repairs or for medical. Ripped my knee working on the van so laid up for awhile. Surgery the 12th and hopefully get out on another adventure. Learned a lot from you and your viewers. Still on my bucket list to get out your way to say hello.
I would like to know about the small air conditioner in this video, please. I watch your videos and am fascinated with this way of life. Thank you for sharing with the world and your gentleness of speech and interview style.
Hi Bob, we have worked the American dream like everyone else. now it is time to live our dream. We will soon get rid of the 2500 plus sf house and be free to explore like we have always wanted. We have had everything possible to make us happy but yet we have not reached it. We are so looking forward to being rid of everything and live like we have always wanted to. Things don't make you happy, adventures do! Thank you for all your advice and help with the community! Hope to me you some time on the road!
I have got to share... I have been camping/living out of a Prius V and got those screens you recommend a long time ago. They fit most all vehicles, and we're really cheap, like 5 bucks for a pair. They are still working after 3 years. Their great. I just had to buy some velcro tape after the first year, which was also only 5 something
"When I'm on the road, I'm going home." So true when nature is your home rather than a building. Love Bob's way of thinking, as well as his kind heart.
Bob Wells is an amazing human. He meets the reality of living on this earth head on. He teaches an supports people who want to leave the trap of housing costs in this country.
AWESOME VIDEO ...AWESOME MAN DOING GOOD THINGS...I LOVE this idea for several reasons ...live cheaply... embrace the less stuff more experiences...stress less...& Get out there & enjoy all God created for us ❗❗❗👍👍👍
I’ve observed that a lot of homelessness derives from family breakdown and atomisation. Case in point. Bob is making the best of it and making lemonade from those lemons.
Hey Bob love your channel, Im a Van dweller on the east coast. I want to start a RTR on the east coast, Im thinking the Croatan area in N. Carolina. Give me some ideas please. Im going to start my own channel soon, Im retired, a musician I want to make extra money from youtube and by busking on the east coast. Im also very good elect tech and design many solar projects. what do think Can I survive???
I'm 58 years old, it has been my goal to retire early and travel this great nation. I have no dept but even that is not enough to retire early, my biggest asset (My house) is not feeding me, I'm feeding it every month with taxes, insurance, and maintenance. I had no idea boondocking even existed let alone could be a lifestyle until I saw one of Bob's videos last year. Now I'm on track to sell everything and convert a step van into a home on wheels. I get to retire early, travel the country and let my biggest asset feed me for a change. If anyone is interested in this kind of thing watch Bob's 5 part series called "Snowbird schedule" on his cheaprvliving youtube channel.
I wish I could find one 0f those American Nomads driving through my area, who until American Nomads have that whole big gathering event in Arizona they may be always alone in their RV or whatever else in that order that they travel in, and might want to have somebody in whatever they travel in for company. When I watched that video of them all at that big gathering, I felt they seemed like my kind of people I'd like to be with.
Bob has helped more people find hope where there was no hope to be found. A genuinely humble man who has changed lives, including mine. Thank you Bob!
Hey Bob, what about us Canadian nomads?
He's like Moses, or some cult leader. 🤑 His net worth is $540,000
Bob is an absolute legend at this. Very humble as well. Probably helps more people in a month, than a lot of people do in a lifetime..
I moved into my first van in 1978. I was a low life dirty hippie then but now I'm called a Nomad. Thanks Bob!
I'm in Columbia, SC, recently retired, prepping now for nomad life. I agree that the Carolina coast is awesome 😎.

You will do fine.
i am making my plan now to do same, i'm 66 too ~gonna research more on fridge/freezer, stove, solar and pottys ~ probably a van i think ~ so happy for you jan, rock on! : )
Go you can do it
Me too. Planning, preparing. 63, small SS retirement ck, l do some online creativity, can hardly wait to get going.
Nice story, Jan.
Be well.

Bob is truly a person that lives to give back and help others. In this day and age; unfortunately, that is a trait that is more rare than common.
You made me cry Mr. This is what I'm going to do in the future...You made my day thank you for being a wonderful person And God speed
Are you here yet? The FUTURE is now.
Bob, I so appreciate your work and commitment to the Nomad community. I've been watching you for several years now and continue to learn from each of you. Thanks for all your tips and being so open with your experience. Your interviews offer so many options. I'm so looking forward!

It makes me happy
Thank you for this lesson of dignity and freedom
God Bless you Bob, and I'm glad you found your happiness. Your're not trying to keep up with the Jones's next door like everybody else
Bob...you have helped so many people in their journey...thank you.
It's all about what you can afford and what sacrifices you are willing (or forced ) to make.
Bob Wells is Founding Father of Van Life!
Love, love, love Bob Wells! ❤️ His channel has taught me so much. Was not aware of the nomadic lifestyle until I stumbled upon CheapRVLiving🙌🏽🙌🏽
Thank You So Much!. I'm 34 & Have a 95 Jeep. I've Decided to Live like This. Never Really Felt at Home in My City/Family!. Nomad Is Who I am at ❤️. I Love You All. ☮️

"Less is more." More freedom.
I have lived in what's generally known as a living quarters horse trailer for 14 years ,and yes I have a horse that goes everywhere I go.
I'm so glad too, that you make all these videos. You make me less scared of the future. And, now that I'm getting older was so scared. I'm not anymore. I've realized I have always lived by a lot of your principles. I too can do this, and make a difference in people's lives. Thank you.
Bob, thks for your personal story. I admire your determination and your willingness to live your way. You are an inspiration.
Bob this is your podcast that has inspired so many of us to become a nomad! In my belief it's your best one! This is what gets us started.
I am a proud, modern, American, nomad thanks to Bob Wells and I couldn’t be happier or more content in my life.

He is such a decent individual. Thank you, Bob.

Great Video!!! I was just talking about this on my latest vlog. Awesome stuff
00:36 I've been subscribed to Bob for years and watch many of his videos, and I can't think of a single one where he's shown that angle of his van.
Bob gave me hope it is another way to survive!
Thank you so much.im wondering about the little a.c. you showed there?
Now I get it. I really do. Thanks Bob.

Bob Wells helped me change. And live a better life in my van.
Bob Wells is an amazing human. He meets the reality of living on this earth head on. He teaches an supports people who want to leave the trap of housing costs in this country.

I need to team up with other van life folks to build my confidence back up. Feeling a bit defeated

I retired one year ago from trucking, bought a Ford Transit van and moved into it. I recently gave up my storage unit. Now I'm complete!

Bob was featured on the American TV show "Sunday Morning."
Living in a van down by the river!

Happy New year Bob been thinking of u great ideea me and my pets ty God bless you stay safe
Wonderful presentation!
He's like Santa, Grizzly Adams, MAYBE Uncle Jesse, with a bit of Mister Rogers and Bob Ross' kindness peppered in, heehee. :)
He's just a good ole boy.. never meaning no harm.
I’ve observed that a lot of homelessness derives from family breakdown and atomisation. Case in point. Bob is making the best of it and making lemonade from those lemons.
Really enjoyed video. Thanks
Love Bob's channel
Real peace ✌
Awesome Greg
We love bob Wells.
