First Time in DELHI 🇮🇳 Solo Traveling India: Old Delhi, Trying the Delhi Metro, Parks & Tombs
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 2 ม.ค. 2025
- This was filmed in the beginning of February when I spent a week in Delhi - spoiler alert: I DIDN'T HATE IT!!! I stayed in a 16 bed hostel dorm room (budget travel 💁♀️) where I could work at many different cafes and I was even able to sign up at a gym for a week which was also a really positive experience!
I started my first day exploring Delhi by calling an Uber to take me up to Old Delhi. The first thing I noticed as soon as I got out of the uber was traffic was CRAZY! Luckily I could pass under the street to get to the Red Fort instead of trying to cross it alone. When I got to the Red Fort I was approached by a tour guide who offered me a tour. Usually I don't sign up for tours, but I felt like it would be a good idea in Old Delhi as it really is very chaotic! He started by telling me about the Red Fort before escorting me across the crazy street and jumping into a bicycle rickshaw to drive us down Chandni Chowk. At the end of Chandni Chowk we explored the world's largest spice market! It was fun to do with the guide as he took me upstairs and to many places that I wouldn't have seen on my own! We then continued exploring Chandni Chowk Market where we I tried some cinnamon, my first Jalebi dessert, and got to explore the old Naughara Gali alley. He then took me around some of the crazy old alleys that Old Delhi is known for. We then went to Jama Masjid - the largest mosque in India. After leaving the mosque my tour ended and I headed to the Lal Quila Delhi Metro to try to use it to get to my next location. The metro was amazing!! So clean and I felt very safe even as a solo female in India. I had to transfer on two different metro trains and it was so easy to do! I then arrived at Connaught Place. The architecture there is amazing! I also got a rose for Rose Day, explored the park in the center, and saw a street concert. When I left Connaught Place I just back on the metro to check out Khan Market - another fancy area full of nice stores, restaurants, and bars. After that I headed home.
I stared the next day by trying to take a bus in Delhi as it's so cool that buses are free for women! However after waiting over 30 minutes I gave up and took an auto to Humayun's Tomb. This is such an amazing place that you shouldn't miss in Delhi!! There were so many tombs to explore inside the complex and it was a really nice escape from the chaotic streets! When I left Humayun's Tomb I jumped in another auto to Safdarjung's Tomb - also a really peaceful place in the middle of the city! From there I met up with a friend I met in yoga school in Rishikesh and we went to the Lodhi Gardens. They're amazing free gardens in the middle of Delhi! I loved it there! When we left the gardens we drove through Lodhi Colony to see the graffiti. We also drove by India Gate which was PACKED on a Friday night.
Despite the craziness of Old Delhi, I really enjoyed the time I spent there!! There are a lot of positive things in the city (the parks, metro, tombs) and there is so much to see and do!

Yupp.. Delhi's a hectic but quirky city.. only if one knows how to not over stimulate as it is the capital city & lot of stuff happens here every single day.. south delhi, new delhi, west delhi & even north delhi to some extent are pretty chill.. it gets a lot of bad reputation due to east delhi & old delhi.. if one just learns to avoid certain places.. & takes things slower.. things are going to be very smooth. It also helps once people understand that Delhi is surrounded by NCR(National capital region) which in itself is very massive & modern. Thank you for being open minded & doing it the right way even if only for a short time.
Are you still in India???..If yes then pls pinned me..
Nice
Well, you don't need say this, we don't mind if you something don't like you can say. I know there are so many things to improve in india. Especially about cleanliness.
@@NirmayprasadYadav Its upto the citizens to take pride and put into action.
Wow.. finally someone vlogged Delhi like it is supposed to get vlogged. Kudos and I loved your vlog.
Usually, someone only comes to Delhi because it is kind of the hub of all travels into and out of India, so they just come for rest in between travel to other destinations. BUT, Delhi has been the capital of Indian subcontinent in one way or another for thousands of years. Its history is insane. There is so much to Delhi and while indeed Delhi can feel very rough and relentless, to a smart traveler, Delhi offers fabulous experience.
Aww thank you 🥰🥰 when I travel I like to go to as many places as possible so I really wanted to see more than just Old Delhi. And you’re right - there really is so much to do in Delhi! 😍
I live in India and even I haven't visited half the places you did. Your videos are making me want to take a long vacation from work and tour the whole country.
You should!! 😍 I met SO many Indians who were solo traveling around India!
@@NataliesPassport That's sounds great!!
I didn't hate Delhi either! I heard horror stories before visiting, but I didn't have that experience at all. I really enjoyed it. I've been 3 times now and would still happily visit again! Glad you had a positive experience also!❤
Ah that’s so good to hear!! I was the same tho - like actually really nervous to go there because of things I’d heard.. but I went twice in my 3 months in India and I’d definitely go back too 😍❤️
Glad to hear that girls. I am an Indian who lived in Delhi for 6 years . Even i was scared initially because of all the horror stories around female safety issues but I discovered that being smart and around the right people can help alot. I am glad you took a guide along as obviously its overwhelming when you don't know the language and its crazy crowded.
New growing adults dont care about your opinions on india visits " you american karens" 🐖🐖
Winters is the best time to be in delhi and if its sunny day, its very calming to visit the mausoleums with their parks.
Isn't the winter air super polluted?
@@technicalist101 You are correct, forgot about the smog 😬 Summers there hit 50 degrees this year though.Guess its a choice between dehydration and smog induced cough 😬.I studied there till 2007 so forgot the ugly part 😅
After freezing in Rishikesh and up north for a month before getting to Delhi I was SOO happy to be able to wear just a tshirt 😍 but yes, the air quality wasn’t the best 😅
@@NataliesPassport yep, I did watch all your vlogs from the north as I grew up in DehraDun, 1 hr drive from Rishikesh.Sitting here in Toronto, I felt nostalgic on seeing the snow in Shimla , a holiday destination for us growing up 😅
Hey just binge watched the whole playlist 😅 i absolutely love the raw feelings i get from watching these. Just can't wait to watch more ❤
Aww thank you 🥰🥰 I still have a lot of India videos to edit - just need to find the time to get them done! ❤️
Awesome video! Very informative and helpful. I will be in India next February. Thanks for sharing.
Ohhh hope you have a great time! There are so many amazing places to visit in India!! 😍
Very Nice Vlog , really liked your positive mindset.
Thank you 🥰
Natalie is an intelligent woman. She has given wonderful description of Delhi.
She has given such relevant points about Delhi
Thank you 🥰
I love Delhi, Mumbai and Guwahati City of India.
I actually haven’t heard of Guwahati 🙈 I’ll have to check it out next time I’m in India! ❤️
Guwahati is in North East (Himalayan). Bit cold, less population and great people @@NataliesPassport
@@NataliesPassport Go next time enjoy your self
When you were saying `I want to try the bus', I wanted to suggest you that no, prefer the Metro as the wait time can be incredibly high during certain hours (~ an hour or more even) and buses on some routes can be uncomfortably over-crowded; but you tried by yourself, good to see your enthusiasm!
I really wanted to try a bus there just to experience it! But yes, the metro in Delhi is amazing! 😍
You forgot the amazing Lotus temple, akshardham temple, peace stupa, qutub minar etc. Also the food in Delhi is amazing! Glad you enjoyed in Delhi. Excited for puducherry vlog ❤️
Thank you 🥰 I did make it to some of those the second time I went to Delhi! But it was too much to fit into my first trip 😅❤️
haha this is brilliant, i love that you're always so positive! You've explored areas of Delhi I never have in my 12 visits there lol the chaos, energy, diversity, fusion of delhi is unlike anything else in this entire world
There are plenty of wonderful Neighborhood Locality exist in New Delhi City, which absolutely safe, hygenic, relatively cleaner and greener surrounding with excellant Hotels, Restaurants, Canteens and Food Courts but unfortunately in the age of social media both our domestic and International travelers are not aware and they don't venture. Check out these rich and posh locality in New Delhi City, next time when ever you plan to visit here - Vasant Kunj, Shanti Niketan, Saket, Chanakyapuri, Amrita Shergill Marg, Jor Bagh, Punjabi Bagh, Hauz Khas, Model Town, Mayur Vihar, Rohini, Green Park, Pitampura, Kirti Nagar,Vikaspuri, New Friends Colony, Pandav Nagar, Dwarka Sub City, Defence Colony and Panchsheel Park. There are plenty of Wonderful Places to explore around Delhi and NCR Region-Gurugram, Aero City, Faridabad, Noida, Sanjay Van, Hauz Khas, Agrasen Ki Baoli, Bhardwaj Lake, Tughlakabad Fort, Bhuli Bhatiyari Ka Mahal, Bijay Mandal Fort, Buddha Park, Mehrauli Archaeological Park, Sunder Nursery, Majnu ka Tila Tibetan Colony, Satpula Bridge, Jahaz Mahal, Pusa Hill Forest, Jahan Panah Forest, South Central Ridge Forest, Millenium Park, Asola Wildlife Sanctury, Jamali Kamali Tomb, Roshan Ara Heritage Garden, Talkatora Fort Garden, Deer Lake Park, Qila Rai Pithora, Aksardham Temple, Lotus Temple, Red Fort, National Gallery of Modern Art, National Rail Museum, National Science Center, Crafts Museum and Jantar Mantar.
Thank you 🥰🥰 honestly I was really nervous to visit Delhi just from things I had heard before.. so I think I was expecting total chaos which probably made me appreciate it even more as it wasn’t what I expected! ❤️
I am happy that you showed the other parts of delhi as well some people just come to old delhi and think its like that only.
Also in delhi there are some amazing temples like Akshardham temple, iskcon temple, jhandewali maa temple, hanuman temple (Cannaught place), sheetla mata temple (delhi ncr), katyayni maa temple (chattarpur), etc.
Other tourist destinations include qutub minar, chidiya ghar (zoo), ugrasen ki bowli, some national museums like craft, science ,rail, modern art etc.
Also the Rashtrapati bhawan area is sooo beautiful ❤️ you would love it❤ and in February you can visit the mughal garden its filled with so many types of roses❤ (and on 7 feb people do celebrate rose day don't know if you met that boy on 7th feb though 😂)
There really is a lot to do in Delhi besides just Old Delhi! And honestly I think this might have been filmed around the beginning of February 🙈😅🤣
I was in Dehli once about five years back - it is full of mysteries and tons of beautiful and history packed surprises...a great city to visit and enjoy...
It really does have a lot to offer outside of Old Delhi! 😍
you are really a true gem when it comes to travel vlogger, you always show the best things about every place, love you contents 😘😘❤❤
Aww thank you 🥰🥰 I like making videos of places I like! If I don’t like a place at all I usually won’t make a video 😅 (although I did go to quite a few places in India that I didn’t vlog just because I was tired and needed a break so it doesn’t mean I didn’t like places like Mumbai and Goa where I didn’t film 😅)
@@NataliesPassport you are the best ❤️
I recently discovered your channel! Loved the videos, just a suggestion upload faster i have watched the entire india series in like 2 Days. 🙏🙏
🥰😭🥰😭 aww thank you! And sorryyyy - I’m back teaching full time in Bangkok. So between work and the gym I’m busy everyday from 7am-7pm. I still have a lot of India videos to edit! So I’ll try to work harder 😅❤️
I like how you are smiling all the time 😂😂
Please stay like that❤❤
🥰🥰🥰
I really liked your positive energy!
Thank you 🥰🥰
I live in delhi and never seen that grafitti area 😅 but its cool to see it through your videos too ❤
😱 oh wow! It was a cool area! And soo close to lodhi gardens 😍
Wow!!! Super interesting tour. So much to see in Delhi…..the spice market and tiny narrow streets were very interesting, but with so many people there, I’m not sure I would have liked it. I really liked the historic tombs and the beautifully laid out gardens and parks. I bet they are a ton of vibrant color in the summer. Great vlog!!❤️❤️
Yessss - the parks and tombs were so cool!! I didn’t spend a lot of time in Old Delhi at all. But it’s a huge city so there are a lot of nice places if you look for them! When are you gonna go with me?? 😅😅😅🤗
Old Delhi is not Capital of India
New Delhi is a Different City which is capital of India & Don't go Old Delhi as it is mostly dominated by Peaceful community and it's Filthy.
By the way who inspires you to go there .
New Delhi is capital of India
BUT Old Delhi is not it's part .
❤
Thank you for showing the beauty of Delhi, rather than the claustrophobic lanes of Chandni Chowkk etc, that other vlogs love to show !
99% of my videos are places I like and want to show people, instead of focusing on bad things for views ❤️
Come to northeast India u'll find many indigenous peoples living simple lifestyle n treat the outsider very well indigenous food in the market is very chief n tasty n pure organic. If u come to northeast first u come to Tripura state where u'll find beautiful indigenous culture n tradition.People are so humble n polite that u wound find any difficulties here..plz do visit once
Ohh I haven’t heard of Tripura yet! I’ll have to add it to my list for when I make it to the north east 😍
looks awesome pretty stunning queen
Thank you 🥰
After a long time, I enjoyed a Delhi vlog. The tour guy you got in the end was fun too..I hope u could visit Akshardham Temple. It's such a nice place, and better than so many tombs.
Aww thank you 🥰 actually I didn’t cross the river, but that looks gorgeous! 😍
Just avoid Crowded Places in Delhi State like-Old Delhi, Chandni Chowk, Pahargunj area in Delhi City. Otherwise there are plenty of Wonderful Places to explore around Delhi and NCR Region-Gurugram, Aero city, Faridabad, Noida, Sanjay Van, Hauz Khas, Agrasen Ki Baoli, Bhardwaj Lake, Tughlakabad Fort, Bhuli Bhatiyari Ka Mahal, Bijay Mandal Fort, Buddha Park, Mehrauli Archaeological Park, Sunder Nursery, Majnu ka Tila Tibetan Colony, Satpula Bridge, Jahaz Mahal, Pusa Hill Forest, Jahan Panah Forest, South Central Ridge Forest, Millenium Park, Asola Wildlife Sanctury, Jamali Kamali Tomb, Roshan Ara Heritage Garden, Talkatora Fort Garden, Deer Lake Park, Qila Rai Pithora. I completely agree 😍
Nice vlog, very interesting journey to Dehli, looks a fascinating place indeed. 👍🥰👍
It really is! A few hours in old Delhi was enough to see it and then I stayed away 😅 there are so many old cool tombs and parks to see around the city!
Delhi is one of the trash place in India 😂
Thats so beautiful
Glad that you finally are here .
One more place that you should visit is Kashmir , you will absolutely love it
I hope I can get there one day! 😍
@@NataliesPassport Yeah hope that you get a chance to see the beautiful valley and wonderful landscapes , next you come to India , Kashmir should be your bucket list destination . And maybe i get a chance to be your host 😄😍

Thank you 🥰
You must visit some old temple in indian state like in Tamilnadu madurai Meenakshi temple and ranganathswamy temple etc you can google too thanks for visiting bharat love your content ❤️🙏
Thank you 🥰 unfortunately I didn’t have as much time down south as I wanted! I met a friend in Goa so I had to rush before then to make it on time 😬
Okay, I'll be honest Natalie. There's nothing much to see in Delhi except few places like India Gate , Qutub minar n all. Also you will find more dirt, pollution and unhygienic conditions in Delhi. You can consider other places of India like North side includes Leh, Ladakh, Jammu and North-eastern sides like Arunachal Pradesh
Assam
Manipur
Meghalaya
Mizoram
Nagaland
Tripura
Sikkim. The north-east ones are beautiful with scenery and you won't regret going there.
The northeast is the next area of India I really want to visit! 😍 but honestly I did have a good time in Delhi! Although the air quality wasn’t the best 😅
@@NataliesPassport exactly lol 😂, also too many vehicles & everyone honking is so irritating
😂in northeast they eat dog.
@@AbhishekSingh-zv2tn Out of 8 North Eastern States of India, Dog Meat is only consumed in Nagaland State and Naga Community Dominant Hilly Region in Manipur State. In rest of the other North Eastern States of India, dog meat is banned or seldom consumed by any folk. Pork Meat is more popular in our all North Eastern States.

Looking forward to hearing about your experience as solo western female traveller in beach resorts in India.
I did go to both Kerala and Goa 🤗 surprisingly it wasn’t bad - nothing like the crazy TikTok’s you see 🤦♀️ some guys asked for selfies (which usually I’m okay with - but on the beach it was the only place I said no 😅). Hopefully I’ll get the videos up this month or so 🥺🤞

I don't understand why people visit these places after being to Shimla and other beautiful cities. Delhi is one of the worst and unsafe cities for solo travelling imo. You must be so brave lol, I could never
delhi is historic city , theres lots of monuments . spice market and chandni chowk is not tourist place as most tourists go there . i dont know why
Old Delhi is chaotic, New Delhi is best
I was in India for 3 months and actually went to Delhi twice 😅 I agree that Old Delhi is SO chaotic and now that I’ve seen it I don’t have to go back lol. But there are some nice areas too! It was a good place to stay for a few days just to utilize cafes for working and have a really nice gym 😍

Hey, you should really visit Tiger reserves like Jim Corbett or Tadoba andheri tiger reserve(TATR), especially in Nov-Dec as the forest is also very beautiful as well. Just book the tickets in advance as people book it months before
I met a couple travelers at hostels who did that! I didn’t, but hopefully next time 🤞❤️
Unfortunately CHAOS became our usp for tourism 😂😂😂

There were dirty areas, but also some really nice areas!
Madam , Delhi is a Union Territory comprising of 11 Districts . Out of these 11 only 1 District named New Delhi is only India' s Capital.
Delhi and New Delhi are not Same .
Most foreigners even Indians don't know it properly, so We can say that New Delhi is Capital of India and it is Clean .

I'm an Indian in Bangkok. Once you're back in Bangkok, we could plan a meet up.
So cool! I live in Bangkok 🤗
HI, which hostel did you stay in? would you recommend? Thanks :)
I actually stayed in a hostel called Moustache Delhi. I really liked the area as it was away from the chaos of Old Delhi and I could walk to multiple different coffee shops to work. It wasn't the best hostel ever, but it's cheap and has a nice rooftop common area where you can meet other travelers 🥰
Thank you, that's very helpful ☺️
Right now I am present in Delhi NCR
Delhi is full of world heritage sites
There are plenty of tourist places to explore in Delhi and NCR Region, which both our domestic and international travelers are not aware or very rarely visit for their blog/vlog digital contents- Gurugram, Aero city, Faridabad, Noida, Sanjay Van, Hauz Khas, Agrasen Ki Baoli, Bhardwaj Lake, Tughlakabad Fort, Bhuli Bhatiyari Ka Mahal, Bijay Mandal Fort, Buddha Park, Mehrauli Archaeological Park, Sunder Nursery, Majnu ka Tila Tibetan Colony, Satpula Bridge, Jahaz Mahal, Pusa Hill Forest, Jahan Panah Forest, South Central Ridge Forest, Millenium Park, Asola Wildlife Sanctury, Jamali Kamali Tomb, Roshan Ara Heritage Garden, Talkatora Fort Garden, Deer Lake Park, Qila Rai Pithora.
@@gauravsahgal8203 There are 3 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Delhi - Qutab Minar, Red Fort, and Humayun's Tomb. However there are plenty of Historical heritages across Delhi and NCR Region of Delhi State, which many of the tourist around the world aren't aware.
