    1:02 - First, you want to start by making sure that your drumset logo is facing straight up
    2:02 - Next, you'll want to get the lugs in the housing
    2:42 - You can test that so far you're on the right track by making sure that it is finger tight
    4:37 - One tool I use is Tune-bot gig tuner for accurate tuning. Note: you'll want to tighten in order to get close to desired sound
    6:12 - You want to tune as close to the decimal as possible
    7:39 - You also have the option of tuning by ear if you don't have access to a digital tuner. Not having a digital tuner is NOT a deal breaker
    11:14 - Next, we go over how to tune the bottom head so that it's nice and fine tuned
    12:03 - We break down a great tip to avoid a common mistake that a lot of drummers make when they are tuning their drum
    13:45 - Next, we go over how to tune the top of the drum with a tuner
    16:18 - Almost there! Next we go over how to check the tone & done!
    13:02 - We finish by going through a quick beat breakdown for how to listen to your finished work

    I love the tubebot gig. Fyi, you can cut a small piece of moon gel and place it in the center of the drum to kill the overtone. It is more consistent than using a finger, and it frees up your hands.

    Can you maybe give some recommendations on the frequencies of all your toms (for top and bottom heads)? Because I want to readjust my toms and need base values ;-) - Great video

      not a bad idea, although there is a chart with frequencies from gig-bot, its very helpful also

    The loosening and then slightly tightening the tension rod might explain why I have to constantly retune one rod multiple times during jams. Thanks for that. Would still like more tips of doing it old school style. I’ve tried a bunch of gimmicks but none of the seemed to work. Granted my heyday of drumming was about the early 2000s, I still never felt like I’ve gotten my drums in perfect tune using the ear method. It’s a lost art.

      A lot of times I will tune by ear still, but if I'm not in a hurry and have the time to do a full tune up I prefer using this device. and yes most drummers don't know that if the last motion you use is LOOSENING that it has a tendency of going out of tune faster. Tuning drums truly is an art!!

    I do a turn down and turn up a little to lock it. Like tuning a guitar. Ok right now, you just said the same thing I wrote.

    This was super helpful! My toms were sounding super “boingy” even with the moon gel on it. My snare sounded fantastic while my toms sounded like complete garbage. Now they sound awesome! I’ll be uploading a video soon which is going to be a shoutout to you! :)

    Is that range you chose for turning a stead-fast rule or dependent on particular drum? I always tuned to where I could get the drum to “sing.” Thank you!

      for the most part, different tunings are going to have similar frequency. Tightening and loosening the bottom head changes the resonation on the drum,

    How did you decide to tune to 73 and 136??

    • @E7MusicSchool
      @E7MusicSchool  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      tune Bot has a sheet of what decimals to tune to based on drum size, and desired resonance.

  • @BadRonald1
    @BadRonald1 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Shouldn't you muffle the bottom while tuning the top ? That's what I do.
