    I quit tying the Palomar because it was breaking on Hooksett on flouro. I still use it for mono and a double Palomar on braid. These knot tests are all over the place. Thanks for the content.

    A nice knot machine. Testing different lines and knots is great to use. I have tied the Berkley knot for years and trust it for the majority of my tying knots. The Palomar is always a strong knot, but it has failed on me more often than the Berkley knot. I'm looking forward to seeing some more videos of you doing this.

    I use a palomar on monofilament and double uni on flourocarbon. Just the way I've always done it. If you're in a rush and twist the loop on a palomar with flouro it can cut in to itself when cinching it down. It can still cinch on itself with the double uni, but it's generally further in the knot. That's just been my experience over the past 20 or so years.

    Wow that actually is not how I expected it to go! I still tie the simple “fisherman’s knot” I learned as a kid off of the back if the old Walmart FLW plastic worm packages! I don’t know that I’ve ever had a noticeable issue with that knot versus other knots that I’ve tried. I don’t know how you tie that Palomar knot so fast though because I end up tying my fingers up more often than not when I try it! Now I want to see braid-to-fluoro knot tests!

    The uni-knot is quick and I’ve never had any issues with it as long as you wet it before cinching it down so it doesn’t burn the line. I’ve had my line broken before but it wasn’t at the knot. Except Gar which I did catch one with this knot while bass fishing.

    Fun to see your real world testing! Always great info! Have used the Trilene knot since I was a kid, tried the Palomar and like the knot, but didn't like that in some waters the tag would end even cut flush would pick up scum and algae. I do use a half hitch on top of the knot to redirect the tag when I want the compact size of the Palomar. Both knots have been great for me and easy to tie. You ever notice the Palomar snagging stuff on the knot? How do you remedy it?

    I have tied Palomar knots for most of all my knots because I can tie it fast, but I was never sure if this was ever the best way to go. This video has given me the confidence to stay with the Palomar. Would you consider doing a video similar to this but with different leader knots? I tie an alberto knot, again, for speed, but I know the FG knot is regarded as superior as far as strength and usability goes. What do you think?

    Super cool idea trialing your own knots and competitions between the kids tying the same knots.. seems like the hook set maybe doesn't effect your knot... overall still breaks at same lbs whether fast or slow...
    Also check out Tyler video also, he compares different types of knots. Any chance you are gonna be tying different knots? Trial the connection knots, FG, Alberto, Uni to uni... really worth time and learning g the FG...

    @DanielBoone337 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I tie 3 knots to my hook/bait... a snell with braid and fluorocarbon any time I'm flipping with a staight shank hook, double pitzen knot for fluorocarbon most of the time, and a palomar for braid and occasionally on fluorocarbon when I'm in a hurry and it's not a high impact hook set. The palomar has it's faults mainly with fluorocarbon but as long as it's tied correctly it's a pretty good knot I do think the double pitzen is much better and it's an easy fast knot to tie...
