    INAV has a setting like "Continuously trim servos", as I know, it helps constantly fly in level

    I think I started with INAV 1.6 with an Omnibus F3 on a Bonsi wing Then a Carbonbird Paris Sirus FC on a Bixler. I also converted a a HobbyKing SX-20, a Phantom 2 clone to INAV again with the omnibus f3 with many crashes trying to fly it aggressively. Every, well almost every new version of INAV have increased the fun, performance and safety of our craft. Thank you and all who contributed their time, talent and enthusiasm for our hobby, one of the best hobbies. Dad first saw RC planes in Japan, as a teen when his dad was Stationed there in 1952..I think.,and was hooked. He had me flying pulse rudder and a cox .02 at about age 7 but I was never comfortable enough to become proficient . After Apollo I was intrigued with remote control and especially telemetry on motor gliders with the early FrSky voltage and Baro modules. Then an article in QST, a Ham radio magazine had an article of a fellow using an ATV transmitter on a large nitro plane. I just couldn't stop thinking about one of those. But Dad’s best friend at our AMA RC club flew FPV and he provided me with the original Skyzone goggles when he upgraded to FatShark. Dad is still my spotter when there and enjoys “Taking a ride” in whatever I am FPVing, as long as he is sitting. Even the kind of traditional AMA club members are surprised with how FPV has been developed. In the last month I have been taking members for rides in my new 85mm Whoop, F405 FC with Baro, and the Whooplite by HDZero. They were amazed as I am.

    I am a 72 retired captain and R/C modeler since the age of 10, I have been flying FPV for 15 years, but now, as it is a good challenge to train my old brain, I switch to INAV autopilot, digital video and open source R/C, not easy... hopefully, they are your videos showing how to sort it out, and I wouldn't have succeded without you! I don't like continuous servo autotrim. It trims servos as I slow down to land, so my trim is all messed up for the next launch. I use servo auto trim on a switch at a nice fast cruise, and let the I term trim for higher and slower speeds.

    And if you want to be really persnickety, you can mechanically recenter your control surfaces based on the adjusted trims, and then reset the servo center points to 1500, and run another auto trim just to fine-tune. The closer you are to mechanical center on your servos, the better flying results you will have.

    Can't wait to try this. The only complaint I have is probably not on you. There is no wav file for autotrim or servo trim in the edgetx sound packs. That I could find anyway. I ended up making my own with an old copy of OpenTX Speaker. My only suggestion so far is please create an INav specific sound pack. In fact, could you do one in your voice? That would be epic!!

    INAV can display the current mAh/mile rate in the OSD, but I would like to see the overall average mAh/mile since the flight began, instead of having to wait for the stats at the end of a flight to see a value after the fact. Also, I think I heard that v7 will have a value for the total distance travelled (not just distance from home) during a flight, so that's another value I'd like to see.

    Hello, congratulations on the content! I have a small doubt, when I flew without a flight controller, on the first flight of each model I always had to trim the servo manually using the radio trims, but now using an FC and enabling the option "continuously trim servos on Fixed wing" do I still have to do this manual trimming to help the FC or should I fly without any radio trimming and let the FC take care of it? If the work is all done by FC, does it automatically save the parameters for each flight? Thank you very much in advance!

      It will always adjust the trims and save when you land. This is how I prefer to fly. Not sure if there’s an advantage to having it on a switch other than you have explicit control of when it’s active.

  • @rodeopilot7495
    @rodeopilot7495 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I'm little confused . so on this video you suggest to have the servo auto trim as a mode, but there's an option on the configurator to have the servos auto trim continuously . what's the difference? and what are the advantages and disadvantages of both ?

    • @jotham123
      @jotham123 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      on arduplane I leave it on all the time as it's just an option that you turn on. I find after lots of hard maneuvering the trims can be out a little but they readjust themselves within seconds. Leaving it on really helps on a plank in which I have several sizes of battery pack or if I slightly misplace it. Saving the trim and putting a marker in the fuse for perfect battery placement each time is probably a much better idea.

    HI! What you think about dedicating one channel for all switches? All radios today is sending digital signal over the air, and it's resource vasting to use values from 0 to 1000 to encode single bit (if there is 2-position switch). At now i combinig 2 switches to single channel by selecting distinct ranges for modes (for example: for couple of 2-position switches it can be first half of range for switch1 "on", and second for swith1 "off". For switch2 there 2 ranges for "on" - first half of "halves", and two ranges for "off" - second halves). So it works flawlessly, but takes a lot of effort to tune
