I'm with you, I've been listening for years and I don't get tired. Personally, I think that this should have been the style that this genre should follow. What's happening now, apart from the occasional band and of course the great power metal, I don't like the rest...
This album is perfect for me. Has all i love in metal music. Beautiful melodies, gutural voices, sweet clean vocals, acoustic guitars, powerful drums, killer guitar tones, blast beats, amazing backing vocals, the bass tone is a punch in the face. It has melancholy moments. The lyrcs makes me want to live with strenght and determination. It has it all!! I'm 40 years old right now, and still listen this when i need reload my energies to make a better day. Just like when i was 20. Thank you so much KE for you music.
I remember hearing this album for the first time at a friend's bedroom, in 2003. It was new, fresh, young, powerful, beautiful, angry. All at once. I had a few moments like that with music and it still amazes me every time, specially with "Fixation on the Darkness" intro. OMFG.
Crazy how old this is now. I remember being on MySpace trying to talk to some girl I liked from school, listening to this album every single day. Aside from that memory this album definitely changed my life for the better. Ended up playing in bands and meeting a lot of lovely people.

I remember buying this when i was on the uss george Washington when it came out and listening it on repeat when we were on deployment in the persian gulf. They set the template for modern metalcore and the lyrics are so heartfelt and mean so much over 20 years later. Front to back a banger. Respect. Positivity and heaviness perfected. This album will always be in my heart
Can someone explain why Jesses vocals sound so god damn good on this record specifically?(almost 80s metal vibe with the reverb?) Also why does the snare sound so good. The production and mix on this album is top notch, maybe best across the genre.

Adam Dutkiewicz played lead guitar and drums circa 1997-2000 with Aftershock, but then he attended Berklee college of music in Boston and leveled up fucking MASSIVELY. He studied production, audio engineering and bass guitar (notice how he only studied things he didn't know to evolve). So when they started recording stuff for KsE around the year 2000 he began polishing things up massively, and never stopped leveling up. The guy went on an absolute TEAR when it comes to production between 2000 and 2006. As for Jesse's vocals, this is unfortunately a sound we will never get again. Back in the 2000s Jesse used to spit blood after practices and gigs. Obviously this was not a good thing, but the positive part is the SCREAMS he laid out for KsE and "the empire shall fall". They were absolutely ungodly. During these years he put blood sweat and tears and practically destroyed himself to produce something, but that something was timeless. Listen to "Irreversal" by KsE to check excatly how fucking hard Jesse used to go at it
Yup. I was so excited to know of Melissa Cross because I thought many vocalists were going to be able to perform well into their 40s and maybe even 50s h with her help. I'm very happy Jesse and many more linked up with her but I think he's just a different man now. He's not in that dark place anymore. His screams sound very good but his songwriting is a lot more tame these days@jasonsudeikis26
Funnily enough the vocals were recorded in Jesse's bedroom so no hi-tech studios involved there. The snare was triggered by an Alesis sample and does sound incredible indeed. Without a doubt one of the most perfect and genre-defining albums ever to have been created.
@@TheRise08 I didn't know Jesse laid down the vocals in his own bedroom, that's crazy. Alive or just breathing and the first Times of grace record are really something else. I don't think anyone will be able to top those records

Disarm the Descent (the first KSE album after Howard left and Jesse returned to the band) is even better than daylight dies, and I'd say is as good as Heartache, if not maybe a little better than that. So many bangers. The hell in me, beyond the flames, time will not remain, in due time, the new awakening, no end in sight. So good.
@@thedeathofreason I have the same opinion. After this album, the one I like the most is Disarm the Decent and I remember that people threw hate at it at that time...
Ain't nothing like jamming this top level in my 2005 Thunderbird every morning on the way to work screaming every lyric right along with Jesse. Good times were had.
It’s beyond me this only has a few likes! To all of you who knew KSE before “Howard,” you are the real worthy fans… lol. Love you all! Adam, you’re a rock God
Why do you care about likes? They are meaningless numbers designed by corporations to provoke exactly the kind of tribal response you just gave. Though, your gatekeepy comment about "real" fans and the dig at Howard just shows you are exactly that kind of person.
Here's how I see it. AOJB is undoubtedly the best Jesse album in his category. As for Howard, TEOH and ADD are always a tossup for me and many others it seems. Now sure, ADD is the most popular, but man TEOH has a lot of success, too. From the opening ballad, to the ‘(Set This)’ World Ablaze performance that shed more light on the album's awesomeness and the fresh debut of Howard's first album with the band.
