      Thanks buddy, it was the toughest Mental grind I've ever experienced in my hunting career. I wanted to quit every day. I didn't know who I was fighting against anymore... the deer, or proving to myself that I could commit to it. Let's just say that I'm glad he's dead, because a 3rd season of chasing him might have been too much for me.

    Congratulations!!! What a stud of a buck. You definitely earned that one. Great video, I really enjoyed it. The more you have to work for success the sweeter it is. Public land,big woods bush buck, it don’t get any more fair chase than that. To me that beats a 250” buck on a bean field all day long. As a hunter mature’s, he realizes it’s not all about inches, the weight, or how many you have got. It’s about the experience, it’s about tradition, it’s about getting out in the woods becoming one with nature. Living it, breathing it, soaking it all in, until that magical moment when it all comes together. I LIVE FOR THE HUNT. The buck is just the icing on the cake.

    • @FatalImpactOutdoors
      @FatalImpactOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! I couldn't agree more. There's nothing more fair chase than a public land bush buck. Untouched by human influence, doing exactly what they've been doing for hundreds of years. Fuelled by instinct, not learned behaviours of how to avoid humans and hunters. It's pretty special being able to chase them.

    That's a great buck congrats. Are you seriously in snow right now? I'm in BC. A week ago it just dropped from 20c to 10c for a high. Got a chubby young 3x4 whitetail yesterday. High mountain wild buck, liked my doe calls. Put one thru the heart like yours.
    Whitetail hard to hunt in my area, this is the second buck I have seen in the last 3 seasons. mostly have mule deer here, they're even in town. But I'm happy, deer hangin.
    Now to go for a mulie buck

    @ericsumner7733 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice way to grind it out...I never give up even when i used to hunt in a stand...I prefer to be on the ground on the move like the Benoit's. But not everyone has the same hunting opportunities like deer hunting in Canada which in my opinion is the best for hunting Big Massive Whitetails. Canada has the best genetics in the whole world and anyone who is born and raised there is definitely blessed. Canada is the last great frontier for Big Game Hunting next to Alaska especially for Big Whitetails which Canada is #1. 😊

    • @FatalImpactOutdoors
      @FatalImpactOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      According to the record books, Canada isn’t that high on the list. However, there’s nowhere I’d rather chase a big buck than in Canada. We have so many factors working against our deer that it’s amazing we have as big of deer as we do. If you transplanted our deer with their genetics to the south and removed the harsh winters and shitty food sources from the equation, and gave them nutritious crops and relative protection from wolves and predators, they would be absolutely massive.

      Thanks Jerry. As far as I'm concerned, there isn't a more fair way to hunt a deer in the world. Truly wild, unobstructed by human presence, on public land. No bait, no food sources, nothing but you and a deer that is surviving based strictly on their natural instincts from the past couple hundred years.

    • @FatalImpactOutdoors
      @FatalImpactOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was either patience or dumb luck... I'm not sure. I feel like you can sit on a 5 gallon pail in the worst part of the bush, and if you sit there long enough eventually something big will accidentally walk past you. I'm not sure if that's just what happened here, or if I was actually in the right spot haha!

    • @FatalImpactOutdoors
      @FatalImpactOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks David! It's incredibly challenging to bow hunt these deer in the bush. There's really no way to funnel deer except for the simple fact that they live there. We have had success bow hunting during the first week of November when they're actively hitting scrape lines, but it's still a low percentage game. I suppose that's what makes it so fun hunting in the bush

      Just a basic winter mitten for the most part. The key to staying warm is the clothing layers, and then absolutely the Heater Body Suit. • @FatalImpactOutdoors
      @FatalImpactOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's a different game for sure. As an Alberta resident, I've chased whitetail here my whole life. But I've also been fortunate to hunt Saskatchewan several times. They're both completely different hunts. In Saskatchewan over bait, you remove the "Am I in the right spot" element from the game. It becomes a game of patience. In Alberta, it requires patience, but also requires intense mental strength because you never really know if you're in the right place or not. I love both hunts, but killing a big deer in Alberta is a bit more of an accomplishment in my personal eyes. But highly recommend both hunts for sure.

      Just sitting. Would be very difficult to follow one particular set of tracks in the forest. Some people might have that skill, but I don't. Especially when it comes to targeting one specific deer.
      During November, these bucks never really stop moving. And you'll never outrun them. So you would have to track them at a very fast pace and hope that you're only starting a few hundred yards behind him. I don't believe it would be a practical or efficient way to hunt target bucks

      They definitely offer a different challenge for sure. They live in the deep, dark, nasty parts of the forest for a reason. They know they're safe there. But during November, they have to come out eventually. You just gotta be there when he makes his mistake!

      @@FatalImpactOutdoors The biggest issue is when they go nocturnal!
      Smart enough to stay hidden till well after dark, & return to the hideout, before shooting light. My Uncle saw one once.
      It was just starting to break daylight, & one must have been running late.
      That uncle said it was over 100 yards away, & in the dark silhouette, he said the rack looked like a brush pile on top his head.
      He couldn't count points, due to it going through so fast, & the poor lighting, but he excitedly said, it was huge!
      Kind of it shock at what he was seeing, he didn't even get a chance to reach for his rifle, & it was gone. 😲

      Yep, it definitely makes it tougher once they’re nocturnal. BUT, during the middle of the rut, they will move in daylight. They will make a few mistakes. And that’s when you need to capitalize on him. That’s why we wait 11 months of the year to hunt these bucks during November. Season opens in September, but we don’t even think about hunting them until November. Because that’s when they’ll make a mistake

      For years, we always ran Raven Wear. It's no longer available, and truthfully, I never thought I would find something that would replace it. But these past 2 seasons, we've switched to wearing the SKRE Guardian Winter gear. And honestly, it's really good. A ton of Down Filled layers, really thick, warm base layers, and then the Guardian Outter layers have kept us surprisingly warm over these past two seasons.

    What stand are you using? I keep seeing this rotating one on a tripod?

      @FatalImpactOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, that's correct. It's called the Apex by Big Game Treestands. It's a tripod stand.

      There's a reason killing a big whitetail is often the most coveted trophy for many hunters. They're so freakin smart, and you never know when they're going to slip up. I guess that's what makes me love it so much

    Not sure of laws up there but I gotta respect you aren't baiting in that bush country.

    • @FatalImpactOutdoors
      @FatalImpactOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      In Alberta, it's unlawful to use any bait of any kind. No mineral attractants, no food baits... nothing. We're required to do our homework, run a ton of trail cameras, figure out where a big deer lives, and then spend enough time in his home until he walks by. It's a mentally challenging game, but a rewarding one when it comes together!

    How much does it cost to hunt in Alberta?

    • @FatalImpactOutdoors
      @FatalImpactOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most outfitted hunts in Alberta will run you around 6K USD on average. The outfitter that hunts the same area of the bush as us kills some incredible deer each year, and I believe his hunts are 6K or 6,500.

    What is a bush hunter?

    • @FatalImpactOutdoors
      @FatalImpactOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We hunt deer on massive expanses of Public Land. The northern region of Alberta is covered in thousands of square miles of bush. No farmland. No fields. Nothing but bush. Most deer we hunt aren't within 30 Miles of the nearest field or farmland. So we call them bush deer. They were born in the deep forest, and have never seen a field in their life. 100% public land bush deer
