Konohamru is underrated by all means necessary. He has mastery over 3 types of chakra natures like, Fire, Wind, and Lightning. He can do 3 types of rasangon like Base rasangon, gaint rasangon, and wind style: rasangon. He has other jutsu like shirenken jutsu, burning ash jutsu, and he can even use the chakra blades probably better than asuma. He can fight people like jugo and win quite easily. He can break throw kashin’s barrier able to get praised by him to. He can summon two animals the toads and the next monkey king Enma, and he has mastery over some sealing jutsu and barrier jutsu. So yeah he’s pretty strong.
The problem is none of these abilities or feats are relevant in the current story. The power scaling surpassed all this stuff by a long shot half way through shippuden.
i mean 12 year old naruto thought to teach him rasengan and he learned it(anime made naruto older than he was in the manga). granted it seems to have taken him over 3 years since we don't see it in the manga until the pain arc but he still learned it.

yeah, Naruto taught Konohamaru the Rasengan when they were both young. It took Konohamaru some time to master it, but he eventually learned it. The anime did age Naruto a bit, so the timeline might be a little different from the manga. But hey, Konohamaru's determination paid off.@@NarutoExplained

The time skip could be a great time to buff Konohomaru. By this point he has survived his battles with Kara and learned a lot i could see him easily being Hokage after that if he applies what he learned.
I never hated Konohamaru, making jokes about him is easier than most. 👀 But in all seriousness, I think in my humble opinion the reason why he gets roasted by fans and on a Thursday by Kashin Koji (last time I swear 😂) is because he gets put in situations where he's destined to fail. When you keep fighting dudes stronger than you of course you'll look trash.
My problem with him has always been his style. Man has no edge, in my opinion. He can perform many advanced techniques but approaches every fight the exact same way. He doesn't analyze his opponents' techniques and attempt to find a weakness. Right punch, left kick, and Rasengan. Man has no creativity. He's a "genius" due to his talent at learning ninjutsu. But he is far from being a tactician.

All he really needs to do is master Sage Mode, preferably Monkey Sage since we've never seen it & it'll be unique to him, leave the toads to naruto. Even though we've only seen him summon that little ass monkey it at least shows us that he's in contact with them. If the writers & whatnot want to build where we left off with the legacy of Hiruzen I don't see a better way than to have his grandson learn something no sarutobi has before(as far as we know).
he also summons toads too tho him becoming a toad sage wouldn't be that bad considering the fact I don't think there is a monkey sage mode they said only way you become a sage is by toad slug or snake unless you hashirama and can just make your own sage mode
I put konohamaru in kage-aid tier. Like he can for sure help a kage in battle and he in a strong jonin but he not HNIC yet respectively. Most jonin we see casually through the story aren’t better than him like minato assigned squad. For example chojuro was a aid to mei before he became a kage. He was strong with his sword but he still needed development to get to kage level. Granted we havent seen much in boruto of chojuro but its more than likely he gotten stronger since then. As of now i think he is relative to that. Him being on team 7 was never a real negative thing for me because as you said the team was stacked with prodigies. With boruto being a baby god, sarada being a sasuke version of sakura, and mitsuki being a incomplete sage, i dont see why its expected of a jonin with no special hax to be able to out perform them😂 i never understood that part of the fandom. Konohamaru is a byproduct of hard work and perseverance only to be ridiculed for not being gifted hax abilities 😭 he can only do so much

Konohamaru has just about everything he needs to be a top tier ninja. He doesn’t really need to work on his ninjutsu because his Rasengan was equal to Kashin Koji’s, is durable to survive being burned along time by Kashin Koji and can fight low on chakra and be hit by Jugo, and has two good summoning jutsus. Now Konohamaru just needs to improve his battle iq. One thing that pisses me off is how little he uses his shadow clones, and how useful they would’ve been in many situations in Boruto, like when rescuing those people from Delta’s attacks, why not create shadow clones to carry more people, or he didn’t use shadow clones at all against Victor or Ao, or his toad or monkey summon. With what happened to Naruto, I hope Konohamaru is motivated and feels the need to hone his skills. Also adding also adding on to what you said about Konohamaru adding chakra natures to his attacks, when he attacked Jigen, was his punches and kicks infused with wind, or does Konohamaru just hit like a truck because if that’s not wind chakra, he definitely needs to improve that taijutsu because she could be lethal

They couldve made him tactical fighter training sarada to become more tactical fighter, meanwhile sasuke trains her for jitsu, sharingan genjitsu and sakura with chakra control. If they had done that, that would've made him somewhat relevant even if he isnt a powerhouse.
A redemption for his character would honestly be very easy to write. With Naruto supposedly dead I think the natural progression for him is to cope with it by training and becoming stronger, as he now has to realize his dream of becoming hokage way faster. He at least has potential to be as strong as sakura i think
Remember in the chunin exams he faught naruto and was able to use the multi shadow clone technique to create what looked like over a 1,000 clones the chakra needed to do that is massive

Boruto: Alien vessel Kawaki:Alien vessel Sasori: Human puppet Kisami: Human Shark Jinchuriki: vessels for demonic spirit Kakuzu: is literally walking hair with human skin that steals hearts. Kabuto: fused with snakes and multiple Shinobi Madara: literally has another man's face fused into his chest. Kinkaku & Ginkaku literally lived and ate the inside of a demon to transform. Pain: literally impaled by a contraption to manipulate dead bodies. Black/white zetsu(i still don't know wtf he/they is) Jiraya: fused with multiple toads and beastly transformation. Aside from naruto and Sasuke Konohamaru is the only one that is always willing to throw hands with the enemy. He fought AO, Jugo, Victor, Jigen and Isshiki

konohamaru is actually a really experienced shinobi it’s just his teammates/student’s outshine him, which is to be expected when two of them are otsusukis one has sage mode and other has MS
Everyone trashed Konohamaru for being "weak" when in fact he's younger than Kakashi was when he was assigned Team 7. He's his own person, he's not Hiruzen and it wouldn't be realistic for Konohamaru to be as strong as Hiruzen in just a couple of years.

Konohamaru needs to get a power up to take over as the 8th hokage. Naruto trained and inspired him. Maybe it would be awesome if he learn hiruzen's jutsus as well to power up.
Konohamaru is really a genius he taught himself the rasengan from watching.. naruto is not a good teacher. Only reason he is downplayed is because he doesn't have massive chakra reserves but his book knowledge is the best he's been trained by the top ninjas since he was a little kid. Also i think he knows ash release as well.
Well he does have massive charka reserves just look at his fight with naruto during the chunin exams, he used the same amount of clones as naruto, and that rakes lots of charkra.
They should have made him atleast stronger than the third hokage ... as the new gen is meant to surpass the previous, as stated in the series itself...
While I am not all that passionate about Konohamaru, I would have liked him to be the Kakashi of this generation. But I have realized a few years now, that this is impossible from a writing standpoint. In Naruto you had only one MC, while Sasuke was the main secondary character. In Boruto the way it is written, both Boruto and Kawaki are MCs. The role of Sakura is filled by Sarada, while the role of Kakashi is kinda filled by Mitsuki. There is simply not enough room for Konohamaru in the manga at the very least. But if I were to place Konohamaru anywhere based on what I have seen him do in the Anime up until now, I would say that he is at the very least somewhere right at Kakashi's part 1 level, or slightly above that. He would definitely defeat both Zabuza and Haku by himself. He is stronger than Asuma simply by having both the Rasengan and the summoning jutsu (monkey and toads). I can see him handle someone like Kakuzu mid to high difficulty.
I agree with the not attacking off of emotions part but I just think he needs to continue the route that he’s going , like Yea if this konohamaru was in shippuden then everyone would’ve already be giving him his respect tbh… by time skip he should be reaching or maybe reached kage level of power by then

Konohamaru only took the L's he did because of who he's up against, characters that would beat basically anyone else and faster. If we got some filler of konohamaru fighting some rougue ninja or jonin from any other villages he would have highlights for days.
Naruto just shaped it into a shuriken but that Forbidden tech he created has multiple purposes like : *sawing, exploding and punching!* Konohamaru has a 50 caliber level Rasengan when infused with wood. I reckon each infused Rasengan, utilizing a different chakra affinity, would produce different destructive results. A Rasengan infused with water could produce the force of a cannonball and etc.
I absolutely do think Konohamaru is low Kage level. That Jugo feat should not be downplayed. He still effectively beat Jugo, while having his chakra drained, WHILE having to protect the rest of team 7. Because let's be honest, Team 7 WAS getting in the way. If it was just Konohamaru and Jugo, I strongly believe Konohamaru would have won. That being said, it still only puts Konohamaru in the super low Kage level, and I would like for him to get a buff. Learning Monkey Sage Mode or something would be gas 🔥

I never took him seriously. I still don't know where this big expectation came from. Despite his jutsu arsenal, I still find Asuma to be a more crafty ninja. His wind style Rasengan packs a mean punch, though.
Narratively, you don’t give Naruto a protege who does nothing, and hence the expectations. It’s classic Checkhov’s Gun. He’s Checkhov’s Hokage, they all but said at the beginning that he’s gonna be Hokage someday and so it makes no sense for him to exist in the story unless he does it at some point by the time the story ends. And the hardest part about it as a Konohamaru fan is that he really is strong and has the potential to be the off-brand Naruto that he is, but he never seems to properly live up to it these days. Naruto Explained did a good job in the video of explaining how good he could be, they just don’t toss his name around enough in the writers’ room.
I think that Boruto, Sarada, and Mitsuki seemed stronger than they were in earlier chapters because Kodachi favored having them fight the main antagonists, asides from when Naruto and Sasuke were involved. I believe the logic is that since the targeted audience of a Shonen manga are teenagers, giving the younger characters more spotlight is best because they are the characters the audience connects with the most. This resulted in other characters getting less time to shine and getting written out of fights by getting incapacitated, making them appear to be weaker.
We saw what Konohamaru was able to do against Isshiki. Enemies that are about to come are even stronger. So everyone without super-duper mangekyo or rinnegan, karma, sage mode etc. is basically a civilian at this point and all their shuriken training was in vain and could now use their skills with kunais by opening a sushi/ramen shop etc.
Konohamaru should be a elite jounin. But him defeating Jugo puts him in somewhere near pseudo kage tier from the original. Maybe a weak kage tier after the timeskip. But I don't think he will ever reach his grandfather's level. Let see.
It kind of reminds me off elements that combine ninjustu overpower the ninjustsu. Just like water ninjustu is stronger by water. His rasengan argued to be doing something similar. How its enhands by the speed creating this wind vortex that use the air around the rasengan the wind vortex doing extra damage. It enhances his rasengan. If thats the case Konohamaru having really good chakra control to make it spin just fast enough to great this rasengan is impressive.
I'd say he's pre-Time Skip Kakashi level. Strong, but still immensely outshone by people on the level of say, Itachi or Kisame. I think what he needs is to go learn sage mode from the toads (as other people have suggested and I only just noticed, whoops). Or maybe a version of it specific to the monkey summons he and his grandfather have/had contracts with (also suggested by others). It just doesn't make sense to me that he learned so much from Naruto but didn't get even an inkling of Sage Mode. And god knows he has the motivation to go learn it after everything that happened.
I would say Konohamaru has definately surpassed his uncle and in terms of power, since seems to be equal to Kakashi part1. Of course he does not posses the sharingan and kakashi s intellect, but still he is in that level. Unfortunately he does not seem capable o undergo sage training yet or ever... He is good but he needs more training as you mentioned
After the introduction of otsutsuki clan & the plot around the Karma seals doubling down on otsutsuki clan genetics. Humans are just going to be underwhelming with sprinkle of plot armor to move the narrative.

Everyone trashed Konohamaru for being "weak" when in fact he's younger than Kakashi was when he was assigned Team 7.
He's his own person, he's not Hiruzen and it wouldn't be realistic for Konohamaru to be as strong as Hiruzen in just a couple of years.
Kakashi was 26 at the start of Naruto. Konohamaru was 27 at the start of Boruto.

Konohamaru is really a genius he taught himself the rasengan from watching.. naruto is not a good teacher. Only reason he is downplayed is because he doesn't have massive chakra reserves but his book knowledge is the best he's been trained by the top ninjas since he was a little kid. Also i think he knows ash release as well.
Well he does have massive charka reserves just look at his fight with naruto during the chunin exams, he used the same amount of clones as naruto, and that rakes lots of charkra.

While I am not all that passionate about Konohamaru, I would have liked him to be the Kakashi of this generation. But I have realized a few years now, that this is impossible from a writing standpoint. In Naruto you had only one MC, while Sasuke was the main secondary character. In Boruto the way it is written, both Boruto and Kawaki are MCs. The role of Sakura is filled by Sarada, while the role of Kakashi is kinda filled by Mitsuki. There is simply not enough room for Konohamaru in the manga at the very least. But if I were to place Konohamaru anywhere based on what I have seen him do in the Anime up until now, I would say that he is at the very least somewhere right at Kakashi's part 1 level, or slightly above that. He would definitely defeat both Zabuza and Haku by himself. He is stronger than Asuma simply by having both the Rasengan and the summoning jutsu (monkey and toads). I can see him handle someone like Kakuzu mid to high difficulty.

The damage is beyond repair at this point. There's no way Konohamaru will be stronger than his own team that he was kicked out of (in terms of writing).

i think he’s deff an peak jonin low kage level, i want him to get sage mode in like a way as kakashi training after the 4th war cayse he felt he was weak without the sharingan, i want him to feel like he’s getting to outshined by his students and train in sage mode even an imperfect sage mode should give him a decent enough boost

Konohamaru is objectively strong, it's just people had an unrealistic expectation of what he'd be like. I have no idea why people thought he'd be like a second Naruto or Hiruzen.

Konohamaru has a 50 caliber level Rasengan when infused with wood. I reckon each infused Rasengan, utilizing a different chakra affinity, would produce different destructive results. A Rasengan infused with water could produce the force of a cannonball and etc.

I absolutely do think Konohamaru is low Kage level. That Jugo feat should not be downplayed. He still effectively beat Jugo, while having his chakra drained, WHILE having to protect the rest of team 7. Because let's be honest, Team 7 WAS getting in the way. If it was just Konohamaru and Jugo, I strongly believe Konohamaru would have won.
That being said, it still only puts Konohamaru in the super low Kage level, and I would like for him to get a buff. Learning Monkey Sage Mode or something would be gas 🔥

I never took him seriously. I still don't know where this big expectation came from. Despite his jutsu arsenal, I still find Asuma to be a more crafty ninja. His wind style Rasengan packs a mean punch, though.
Narratively, you don’t give Naruto a protege who does nothing, and hence the expectations. It’s classic Checkhov’s Gun. He’s Checkhov’s Hokage, they all but said at the beginning that he’s gonna be Hokage someday and so it makes no sense for him to exist in the story unless he does it at some point by the time the story ends. And the hardest part about it as a Konohamaru fan is that he really is strong and has the potential to be the off-brand Naruto that he is, but he never seems to properly live up to it these days. Naruto Explained did a good job in the video of explaining how good he could be, they just don’t toss his name around enough in the writers’ room.

I think that Boruto, Sarada, and Mitsuki seemed stronger than they were in earlier chapters because Kodachi favored having them fight the main antagonists, asides from when Naruto and Sasuke were involved. I believe the logic is that since the targeted audience of a Shonen manga are teenagers, giving the younger characters more spotlight is best because they are the characters the audience connects with the most. This resulted in other characters getting less time to shine and getting written out of fights by getting incapacitated, making them appear to be weaker.
We saw what Konohamaru was able to do against Isshiki. Enemies that are about to come are even stronger. So everyone without super-duper mangekyo or rinnegan, karma, sage mode etc. is basically a civilian at this point and all their shuriken training was in vain and could now use their skills with kunais by opening a sushi/ramen shop etc.

It kind of reminds me off elements that combine ninjustu overpower the ninjustsu. Just like water ninjustu is stronger by water. His rasengan argued to be doing something similar. How its enhands by the speed creating this wind vortex that use the air around the rasengan the wind vortex doing extra damage. It enhances his rasengan. If thats the case Konohamaru having really good chakra control to make it spin just fast enough to great this rasengan is impressive.

I'd say he's pre-Time Skip Kakashi level. Strong, but still immensely outshone by people on the level of say, Itachi or Kisame. I think what he needs is to go learn sage mode from the toads (as other people have suggested and I only just noticed, whoops). Or maybe a version of it specific to the monkey summons he and his grandfather have/had contracts with (also suggested by others). It just doesn't make sense to me that he learned so much from Naruto but didn't get even an inkling of Sage Mode. And god knows he has the motivation to go learn it after everything that happened.
