    If the CEOs and other executives took pay cuts to offset the increase in minimum wage they wouldn’t even notice it. No one needs to make those kind of salaries.

    I was making $8.95 hour in 1988 and the minimum wage was $6.25 an hour. I was single, i br apt., new small car, health insurance and vacation from work and enough for groceries, gas, entertainment prescriptions, etc... in 1988. 35 years later minumum wage is $7.50 hour. It only went up 75cents in 35 years !!!!!!!!!!!

      Your comment implies that the only way for a worker to make more money is to raise the minimum wage... and clearly that is not true. In your own example you were making 43% more than minimum wage at that time... and I'm sure much more than that over time. The problem is clearly an over-supply of workers or wages would be higher naturally / own their own. And the main reason for that is unchecked illegal immigration. Reduce the worker supply and wages have to rise.

    Billionaires- ugh! I was on a road trip across the US and went to 3 airports and watched the lineup of private jets, Jackson Hole, Telluride and Aspen, oh my god, I felt sick. I feel guilty driving a car with climate change and then I see this and feel hopeless. I talked with a lady who grew up in Aspen and she said it has changed, now the wealthy own many homes around the world and jet in for a long weekend to Aspen, bring their private chefs, staff and food and are not connected to the community. She said I don't even know these people, they add nothing to the community and their house sits empty most of the year. They have the money to buy politicians and lobbyists to make sure their is no wealth tax. I have met a few people who know wealthy people and they say they vote republican just for no taxes on them. This would be a good issue for you to walk through all the negatives of having such wealthy people, and how it hurts all of us. I'll start- they have a huge carbon footprint, private jets, multiple houses around the world, consume lots of resources, detached to a normal middle class society and its issues, have money to sway elections and issues, their children don't need to work and be part of society....

    To quote junior, and I never thought I would write that, "This isn’t their Republican Party anymore. This is Donald Trump’s Republican Party.”
    I was a life-long Republican until the party lost its collective mind. That they elected Trump once is revolting after we knew from his own words what he thought of the heroes of war, what he thought about women, A revolting piece of garbage. And, I do apologize to garbage everywhere for the insult. But that they want him again, shows a massive stupidity and lack of moral compass which I was unaware existed to this degree in the U.S.
    As for Kennedy, I would not be surprised if it turns out that he and Trump have made a deal. If Kennedy helps Trump win, he thinks he will get a "seat at the table." He is at least as revolting as Trump. His Uncle Jo, Uncle John, and father, Bobby sr, must be spinning in their graves.

    The typical restaurant's, including fast food restaurants, business models are set up not like a pyramid, but, rather, like an inverted capital-T, with minimally paid employees at the bottom of the T. These employees are paid, in many states, well below minimum wage. They must depend upon the “kindness of strangers” for a great chunk for their wages in the form of tips. The days of tipped individuals being able rely on a single job for their livelihood, to raise a family, buy a home, etc., are gone. Add to this, from a business perspective, that the restaurant business is the one of the most volatile new businesses to start and that more new restaurants fail than the failure rate of almost all other new businesses. This business model must change!

    • @mearl3977
      @mearl3977 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@asdfghyter It would happen if third parties would stop wasting their time with the highest office and start taking lower offices. There are a bunch of local level and state level offices that run unopposed. First a third party has to gain legitimacy in the eyes of the voting public then they can run for higher and higher offices. If a third party too over just a handful of positions in local offices they could start to network more broadly then focus on bigger elections. More over, I don't think the republicans benefit from the current system because they keep trying to change the rules to benefit them. Currently the republicans are in a desperate place where most of what they stand for and what they did with abortion has made it unlikely they will be re-elected or elected in the first place. There are a dems getting elected in Florida and Alabama all because of anti-abortion policies. States that were never blue have become purple in three election cycles (including midterms).
