You picked an awesome 1st show, and hope you can see them again. Haven’t even looked at the setlist, but this encore will be on the list of great guest sit-ins. The Carini is wild! Edited to add, I think the band was loving it as much as the fans were. Big smiles on all of their faces at the end.
Shit, I knew a guy back in the early 2000's that had seen them 220+ times and traveled to Europe 2x and Japan following them. 180 of these shows from the latest iteration must be like pulling teeth. They used to sound like you were at the dentist now it just feels like it.
@@ztcr6why the fuck are you here 😂 I just saw them 3 times at deer creek and they were incredible. Are they as good as they were in 1996? Not quite, but they’re still better than just about anyone live. They aren’t even my favorite band but respect where respect is due. No one can make you feel like phish at a concert, even if they mess up more than they used to.
Trey is truly at his best when playing with another highly talented musician whom he enjoys & respects, especially if they play guitar, too. He has this uncanny ability to absorb someone's creativity into his own, flawlessly merging the two as he simultaneously expresses them both in one singular & unique idea. It's like he wants to show out & junk, but always in the most non-ego driven way, of course!
Phishs tightest days were their bluegrass days. Integrated coaching daily by the Jeff mosier. They would practice stepping up to mic and back away like traditional bluegrass.
The show's incredible end definitely atoned for its rather meh beginning. It reminded me of that age-old Phish adage that anytime something special like this happens in a 2nd set, in all likelihood, the 1st set was merely "good, but not great." In all honesty, of 140+ openers I've experienced, Strawberry Letter 23 was the most deflating I can remember. It was, actually, almost defeating.
@@jimmbrower6525 Not a fan of that opener but the rest of the show was fire before Billy showed up. That being said, this sit in will go down as one of.the best in Phishtory
If it had more piano that would have been the best Beauty I've ever seen. What a great surprise guest. That's what I love about Phish. Something great happens at every show. Sometimes it's a guest player like Billy. Sometimes it's a song they haven't played in 400 shows. Sometimes they open the set with your favorite song. Sometimes you get stubbed down to the front row. Sometimes it's Abe Fucking Vigoda. You never know.
Ah, the old "let's get out of here so we can beat traffic" move, huh? I guess sometimes works but you have to ask "but at what cost???". That's my favorite time on shakedown: post show... sure gets seedy (and fun) out there!
As a Michigander when we say Pure Michigan, this what we mean! Of course we mean the Great Lakes, the North Woods, the deer, the bear and the wolf. But we also mean a people that just know how to enjoy life.
Man, weird seeing Billy outshine Trey!! Trey was trying to go that bliss garbage and Billy hit the palm muting. Sad to see them get old, but this is how the world works! Was fun while it lasted!
Happy to say this was my first Phish show! Amazing stuff!

Because of climate change it seems bluegrass alley has shifted from Kentucky to Michigan. We’ve never needed electric guitars more
