    Every dang time I watch one of your videos my brain says the same thing, we gotta build that lol. Thanks for sharing Mitchell, cant wait to get this one knocked up, its just in time. I had to break down my indoor grow room because of aphids, was gonna set up NFT for lettuce, this will be perfect!

    Great idea Hoochoo.
    The 50 x25 electrical duct is available at all electricians suppliers if not at Bunnings. Adjustable 4mm sprinkler heads are very cheap and can easily be adjusted to manage flow.

    Great idea! I'll look for those pvc electrical conduits. If not found, then the gutter downpipes should be a rough equivalent.

    Wonder if empty tea bags could be used for holding the seed - as you only need media to keep the seed in place and potentially for support. Was thinking about your gelatin base but think a used cleaned tea bag could do the job....

    Is it possible to make a passive one? Instead of a pump, run a couple strips of wicking cord down the conduit and place seedlings over the top of it?

    We enjoyed your video and would like to try to build it. The problem we are having is that we live in the United States (Maine) and can't seem to find the PVC Electrical conduit that will ship to the US. Any suggestions on where we can order the materials? Thank you for your videos.

      Look up “ Panduit raceway “, it’s used for dressing up fiber, power cables on racks. Maybe your local electrical warehouse might carry it.

  • @andyhawkins6097

    The PVC electrical “conduit” is actually called electrical trunking. The brand he is using is DETA in the video my guess for the dimensions are 25mm x 50mm. Anyways the brand won’t ship to the US and there isn’t really a viable substitute that I have found. I see people suggesting gutters but they don’t have top to stop algae growth and I have also seen people suggest electric raceways but they are generally way to small to fit a plant inside of. I was really disappointed after doing about an hour of research and finding out that I won’t be able to build this. Hopefully he will link the materials he uses in future videos to save us the time and anticipation just to be let down but I think the is a great idea and I love the channel. Cheers!😂

    Hey idk if you answer questions, but what would be the best, preferably low cost setup for growing lettuce? I'd like to be a little more self-sustaining and grow some veggies starting with lettuce and there are so many options, nft, dwc, kratky.
    I'm leaning towards dwc but I appreciate nft as well I just don't know if it's too costly to setup. I'd hate to get something that ends up failing on me and have to spend money to replace too.

    • @Mrboxo
      @Mrboxo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Start with kratky, it's easy and very effective for lettuce. 2" net cups and 36mm peet pellets placed in the lid of a storage container of 35 litres or so will work well for the whole grow, from sprouting to harvesting. You could also get a clear one of suitable size to use as a greenhouse cover.

    • @TheDLCIncluded
      @TheDLCIncluded 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As long as the media they are in stays moist it should be fine. I grow mine directly in the system from the start. But I'll note I don't have a normal NFT system. I have a custom built system that doesn't fall neatly in any one category. But as long as the media stays moist you should be alright. Try one plant, see how it goes. The beauty of hydroponics is the fun of experimenting

      @@lukecarneal3227 I used 4inx4in square vinyl posts for my system, and they stay full of water with roughly 2-3 inches of flowing water. It's based off of Simple Green Hydroponics TH-cam channels system. I think it's more closely to a reciprocating deep water system? I guess that would be the best classification lol

    interesting idea. way too dense. half as many holes at least. roots need room. also bottom leaves will yellow and die as we can see in your video. would like to see mark 2. NB I also found that nft does not really need a slope. it is a myth. reduce the density and you should get better results. Cheers
