What more can i say, this is my game and i very proud of what we've made here, both in terms of the mechanics and how replayable it is, and how novel and interesting it looks. Possibly the thing im most proud of is people don't sit down, play a game and then say "oh, this is heaps like game X". It's a little bit different, it might not be for everyone but i think the groups it works for are gonna really love it. Kickstarter campaign is here and kicks off in a day or so after i post this video. www.kickstarter.com/projects/arkusgames/shadow-moon-syndicates?ref=18kndw
This looks like it will be a lot of fun. I appreciate the overview of the mechanics - the way the top/bottom abilities work and then the backside wilds for syndicates. Man, that sounds like some cool synergies to explore. Best wishes with the kickstarter sir!
Cheers David. One thing im proud of is those interactions, where you look at a card and think "Oh wait, i can grab that card from someone else's discard, then play this and get both abilities!". The operation tokens you pick up add another layer to the synergies as well.
Great to see another NZ-made game! Totally giving me the Cyberpunk vibe there! Great one Jay! Bummer for us to wait for another year to have it in our hands.
I know, such is the way of manufacturing. Still, the game is all done, so we wont be waiting long after the kickstarter closes to get to work with the printing
Followed the Kickstarter when I found out about it in one of your videos but wasn't sure what it was gonna be like, but this sounds fantastic. Look forward to backing this once it's up.
Looks interesting but I wasn't quite how much I'd want to play until you talked about having to be tactical and reactive in the first two rounds before trying to execute a plan in the third. That's the kind of gameplay I enjoy a lot. Really enjoying the look of it too.
Cheers Charlie. I like to think of the final round as something you plan for, and i think its one of the places where the skill level comes through. If you play opportunistic all of rounds 1 and 2, you can be left out of position in the final round.
I keep dreaming up expansion mechanics, all of which are more factions, not more boards or side systems. I have a document full of a good dozen of them
Thank you so much for everything you have done to help new and seasoned gamers alike to discover new games! Because the comments on the AI video were disabled, I wanted to say here that I absolutely respect and appreciate your position and it is a great way to make a stance, and I hope similar channels do the same. I am a huge proponent of AI in so many things, especially medicine, but AI taking jobs from artists is in my opinion the worst aspect of it and it takes the humanity right out of art. Keep up the good work!
Paul, Dane and the guest artists have done a great job. They are all concept artists who have worked with Weta in the past on movies and shows like Dune, District 9 and the expanse.
That’s incredible. Congratulations. The art is stunning. Seems like it’s ripe to be made into an RPG someday. Adapted to a video game. Even could be a movie.
The 2 player mode is quite a different game, as you have a bot player jamming the board, but its a bot that you each have some control over. It becomes more chess like as you really are trying to outmove only one person, using the catspaw bot player as a shield and a sword.
"it has NO solo mode". There goes your chance for a bajillion backers. :) Bad jokes aside, super-hyped for the game. Let me already volunteer as a German-speaking demo person for whenever it might come to SPIEL Essen. Best of luck with getting the gane produced and ... Why can't I buy it right now? 🤔
I love solo gaming, but im also a firm believer that some games just don't fit a solo mode. And this is one of them, its all about interactions and opportunities, and every model i looked at for a bot just didnt make the game feel alive!
On the one hand he says "It's a moderately complex game" On the other hand he has to increase the length of the video by a minute in order to fit in the description on how to play... No shade, just found it amusing, good luck with the game to all players and designers.
Looks so unique! Have you thought about getting it localized, for example by Feuerland in Germany? They might even give feedback on the gameplay. Also I'd really like a German version :D
Hey there👋! We'd love to see the game localized in a wide variety of languages, but at the moment, we are focused on the English edition of the campaign. Our partner, Dara Studios, will be pitching it far and wide to potential partners for localization collaborations once the campaign is complete. We'll be sure to pass on the Feuerland suggestion thanks!
The game looks interesting and I almost backed, but with shipping costing more than 50% of a base pledge to Canada I'm going to have to pass and wait for retail. Good luck with the campaign.

“I have reviewed the art I made and given myself an A+”. Looks good!!
I don't quite have the cheek to give myself the 3MBG gold medal, lol
Interesting theme and love the graphic style of the cards. Gives me a bit of netrunner vibe which is always a plus.
We were looking at 60's heist movie/Tarantino meets cyberpunk/netrunner as a vibe :)
Huge congrats! The game looks great and the mechanics sound really interesting.
Cheers Christian. Hopefully its something a little bit different to anything else out there.
This one sounds like it's straight up my alley. I'm also in love with how elegant and diverse the cards seem to be, so great job all around.

Looks amazing and since I absolutely love your format this was an instant back.
Looks great! The stackable influence tokens remind me of the stacking saucers in some editions of Cosmic Encounter :)
Ha! I literally took my copy of Cosmic to the publisher and said "I want things like this!"
man i cannot wait for this, looks to be alot of fun with some great depth. congrats and well done mate!
Kickstarter is live now, and because the game is done, we should be able to head to the printers pretty quickly after it wraps

Been following this one close. I love everything I've seen so far. Congrats!! Looking forward to the launch!
Cheers, im nervous AF about the kickstarter. Never been on this side of it before.
@3MBG Just wanted to say I backed it - went for the All-In! Best of luck!!
Looks really cool! Congratulations! I saved it to be notified once launched
Awesome
Huge congrats on having your game published by Arkus. Fan of your channel.
Thank you Carlos!
9 I'll😊íq😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊2😂😊😊@@3MBG
Followed the Kickstarter when I found out about it in one of your videos but wasn't sure what it was gonna be like, but this sounds fantastic. Look forward to backing this once it's up.
Less than 24 hours to the KS, which, let me tell you, is terrifying.
@3MBG Haha I am sure the nerves are on edge, but this looks great! You got this for sure.
Woohoo! Great watch! Looking forward to the game. Congratulations on this fantastic design!
I've just backed this on Kickstarter congrats on a successful campaign.
Thank you!
Whoa! This game looks incredible and the artwork is super cool as well! Definitely backing this!
Strong Netrunner vibes!
As mentioned elsewhere, We were looking at 60's heist movie/Tarantino meets cyberpunk/netrunner as a vibe :)
The game looks really interesting, and the artwork is amazing.
Art style totally reminds me of cyberpunk edge runner, love it!
The designer had my attention, but the art, theme and description had my money.
Fantastic to hear
Looks cool J! Definitely sounds neat!
Looks cool!!! Heading to kickstarter to bookmark it 👍

Wow! Really cool theme! I can imagine all kinds of expansions... ;)
I keep dreaming up expansion mechanics, all of which are more factions, not more boards or side systems. I have a document full of a good dozen of them
Good luck with the release!

looks freaking beautiful.

this looks very interesting. i love the art and above all, it is around my weight capacity 😅
Looks cool and super interactive! Also love the art! Do you have any notes on how the 2-player experience is vs the other head counts?
The 2 player mode is quite a different game, as you have a bot player jamming the board, but its a bot that you each have some control over. It becomes more chess like as you really are trying to outmove only one person, using the catspaw bot player as a shield and a sword.
Hello Mr. 4 Minute Board Games 👋
I know right. But hey, its not a 3 minute review becasue its nots a review. It's something else, like me doing an impersonation of myself.
Ah - was really hoping you were gonna give yourself a gold medal :)
I am cheeky, but not quite that cheeky

@@3MBG I understand the need and want for solo modes, but am more than happy if a game doesn't provide one because of exactly those reasons.
On the one hand he says "It's a moderately complex game"

I tried to get everything in this time, rather than leaving some content on the cutting room floor
Looks so unique! Have you thought about getting it localized, for example by Feuerland in Germany? They might even give feedback on the gameplay. Also I'd really like a German version :D
I have no idea about that, ill see what the publisher has to say

@playarkusgames Hi there! Sounds great. I wish you a successful campaign!
The game looks interesting and I almost backed, but with shipping costing more than 50% of a base pledge to Canada I'm going to have to pass and wait for retail.
Good luck with the campaign.
Hopefully we get a retail. But i get it, as someone in New Zealand, shipping is always a killer
