NachoBoy18 -agreed. It is only showing at 2 theaters opening week here in Salt Lake City and one of them is a smaller art association theater in downtown. The other is a megaplex. There are so many other theaters in the valley- mostly mega Plex. Must be a reason behind it. I'm curious to know if anyone has insight...?
Mass distribution is super expensive so unless this thing has a ton of money behind it (which it doesn’t) or it’s a high profile film that crowds are absolutely going to eat up (which it isn’t), the film would likely lose a bunch of money trying to get it into theaters where people aren’t buying tickets. Limited theatrical releases are the safest way for movies like this to play it close to the chest. The people who actually want to see it will make the pilgrimage to the art theater and it will sell enough tickets in those few theaters to turn a profit.
it made me crack up just cause they stayed on the dog for a solid 9 seconds while it just looks around all awkward like. I should probably just watch the movie at this point
You know, one detail I have to love with this: a number of times when the dogs are moving, you can hear the tags on their collars clinking. Not to mention the detail in having individual furs on their body move, either through the breeze of the wind or just as they move from one place to another. That really shows an insane amount of attention to detail put into this movie, if just these quirky little interviews are anything to go by.
In the eyes of a filmmaker this film looks outstanding. The stop-motion is awesome, there's all these subtle parts that make it really stand out. How they're never quite always dead still, there's some fur moving or heads bobbing.
Most of the time they're not intending to move each individual hair. It's typically where the animator grabbed the puppet and that constraint movement of fur or hair is called boiling. King Kong was one of the first stop motion movies and his character had a lot of this.
Man, Tilda Swinton’s voice coming out of that little pug has to be the cutest god dang thing I have ever seen in any movie! I mean seriously! It’s even cuter than Scarlett Johansson’s voice in the body of Nutmeg!
I freaking love this. The amount of effort put into this is astounding. Wes Anderson just knows how to work with stop-motion, it's like it was made for him. I hope he continues to make more!
3:05 is by far my favourite part. chief just sitting in the back and the way she keeps talking as she looks back is just hilarious haha !!. By far the greatest animation... you see very human details in this and thats why its just so bloody good !
This clip only shows the amount of devotion and passion put into this film. That's what I completely admire about this director, he clearly is able to demonstrate a humorous film while also finding the perfect ways to add depth to the characters and overall essence of his works. All the little details added makes the film feel even more real.
The amount of effort that's been put into this promo alone is astounding to say the least, my mind can't even comprehend the time, skill and passion put into making an ENTIRE feature length movie with (I hope is) a complex narrative
Palindrome- agreed! with all the work and development put into all the dolls/puppets I can see why they were like," hmm, what else can we use all this hard work for...?"
Fun fact: Bill Murray was in a car during his interview, so they went the extra mile and animated Boss travelling in one of those cable cars to explain the motor and wind sounds.
Ahh... Actually, out of context these lines doesn't mean anything particular (like "知るも知らぬも" is sort of "Knowledge and Ignorance" or "To know or not to know". Check the numbers i mentioned on a wiki link for full verses (Bilingual). They might put them there just for an atmosphere, well see in a full movie later I suppose.
I think more animated films need to have things like this. this just feels so genuine and tangible (probably because these are the real actors interviewed and animated over) like a real dog is talking about past influences that helped them shape who they want or had to be in life, while also talking about how they approached these characters in the process of making a film like this.
I LOVE THIS SO MUCH. I love when non-human characters (animals, animated characters) are presented as actors in general... like, these dogs *are* actors, but this is my favorite thing of all time. The fact that they devoted extra time to make this, not just showing the cast sitting in a chair with a large image set behind them. So much appreciation to the animators and Wes Anderson for this. I want to get to know more of his other works, but I think this will be my new favorite film.
I just got home from seeing this, and honestly It was one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. The humour, art style, composition of shots, soundtrack; it honestly felt like such a passionate piece of work. 9/10.
I literally just watched Isle Of Dogs, so here is a review of it; Isle of Dogs is one of the best (and I mean the *BEST* ) films I've ever seen- The animation was beautiful, the humor was hilarious, the plot was interesting, and the ending was brilliant- as well as emotional. This movie had a very deep meaning, too. Everything about this movie is astonishing. I absolutely adore how Wes Anderson makes his movies so _complex_ .Overall, the movie was a very heartwarming film, and the meaning behind the movie is truly beautiful. *_I assure you that you will love and enjoy Isle Of Dogs~_*
Think, they went through all the effort to fully animate interviews, add in background movement, and fully sound design each clip JUST FOR THE INTERVIEWS. Think how great the film is gonna be
I love the fact that they animated all the dogs to be in character to how they are in the movie, like if you look closely you realize that Oracle is looking down and reading the fancy Latin definition off of the cue card on the bamboo log in front of her.
This whole thing is amazing, but I noticed two very special things: 1) Murray Abraham's Jupiter has one eye clouded over. If you've ever had an elderly dog, you know this happens, and 2) Tilda Swinton's Oracle actually had me tearing up.
You know a movie is good when the damn cast interviews for the movie are intresting and captivating. Its even more good when you know its an S tier movie in its genre/category before even watching it.
Maybe the only negative criticism I could find about this movie is the fact that Nutmeg's role is only to be Chief's love interest. I kind of wish at least one member of the "party" was female. Other than that, this movie's aesthetic is flawless, the animation is creative, dialogues are funny, and it features dogs; what more could you ask for?
So excited to see this amazing piece of art in motion, stop motion that is. Jeff goldblum cracked me up. Someone said to me they weren't excited for this new Wes Anderson film because Wes Anderson characters are all monotone and have no depth/or excitement to them. A fair perception, I suppose. I rebuttaled with,"well, he brings all the emotion through his curating of the musical scoring and the visual expression of the extensive set development etc" I'm curious to know what your rebbutal would have been to that statement??????????
You can really see how smooth and more...movement (If that makes any sense) the movie is compared to Fantastic Mr. Fox! Looks wonderful, looking forward to seeing it!!
Jeff Goldblum describing Duke's character in song is the best thing I've experienced this year
I wish he asked if we heard the rumor though...
I do not understand why this movie isn’t promoted as much as other movies. Seriously. Promote this masterpiece.

Because it’s a Wes Anderson’s movie
There was a lot of negative press when this film came out because it was a stop-motion animated film that wasn't intended for children.
"The heart of a dog is a bottomless thing..." and then Tilda goes quiet. I got choked up at that. I think she might have been as well?
Travis Draper That actually made me choke up, and I haven't even gotten to that part in the video yet.
it made me crack up just cause they stayed on the dog for a solid 9 seconds while it just looks around all awkward like. I should probably just watch the movie at this point
Jesus they even animated the interviews. That’s extreme.
Gleppy Gloop
extremely amazing
They also kinda did that with the Lego Movies (sans The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part).
"The heart of a dog is a bottomless thing."
Beautiful.
I love how they animated the interviews. You can already tell how passionate they are about this movie ^_^
1:13 They even tried to catch the background noise with the animation. I especially like the interview of Rex for this reason.
No one who makes a stop motion anything can be said to lack passion lol, shits SO tedious

Edward Norton's bit killed me. I absolutely love seeing the animators' sense of humor with things like that 😂
The heart of a dog...is a bottomless thing.

Find a friend or someone that has a VR headset, and watch this video again on TH-cam VR. Thank me later.

"The heart of a dog is a bottomless thing" ❤️ Can't wait to see this.
and the bottom of a dog is a heartless thing
I watched ISLE OF DOGS a few days ago and the movie is the most Wes Anderson that Wes Anderson has ever Wes Anderson-ed. Also, Oracle is the BEST!!
This clip only shows the amount of devotion and passion put into this film. "Psychologically, Trash Island is difficult for him. (silence)"
Sorry, I got something in my eye.
Jeff Goldblum as a dog?! YES PLEASE! :D
Equus21 Writing & Films
Is Duke an Akita or a husky?
Victor Hernandez husky

1:15 whoever decided this was fucking brilliant. It's charming and adorable >.
Poor Liev Schreiber, sounds like he just wants to play more loving characters
Unfortunately he can’t due to how big and threatening he is
Mr Critical He can if he puts his mind to it.
Very hard to come by when you look like wolverines brother
Spots >>>>> Kingpin
Fun fact: Bill Murray was in a car during his interview, so they went the extra mile and animated Boss travelling in one of those cable cars to explain the motor and wind sounds.
Beautiful
During Tilda Swinton's part there are random verses from Hyakunin Isshu are inscribed on a bamboo... Just in case somebody care
sorry, don't get you. There are for example lines from 6th and 18th. en.wikisource.org/wiki/Hyakunin_Issh%C5%AB
Ahh... Actually, out of context these lines doesn't mean anything particular (like "知るも知らぬも" is sort of "Knowledge and Ignorance" or "To know or not to know". Tilda swinton is amazingly cast as a pug. Brilliant.
I think more animated films need to have things like this. this just feels so genuine and tangible (probably because these are the real actors interviewed and animated over) like a real dog is talking about past influences that helped them shape who they want or had to be in life, while also talking about how they approached these characters in the process of making a film like this.
Bill Murray’s dog is so freaking adorable wtf
Did anyone get the vibes of "Creature Comforts" when watching this?
Yes, exactly!
TheOwlPrince exaaaaaaaactly what I was gonna comment ont
Exactly what I was thinking!
yes
Feeling those vibes.
Thank God for Wes Anderson
Updiwasa god has nothing to do with it, thank his amazing crew.
Liev Schreiber as a protagonist, and is aware of the fact that he is almost always casted as an antagonist.
An automatic Best Animated Picture nominee!
Victor Hernandez yeah, unfortunately I don't think it'll win against Incredibles 2, but we'll see
Victor Hernandez plus is not 60 fps western animation. Which most awards are biased against differently cultured animation
.....that will lose to Disney :/

Why is this movie already the best movie of all the movies!!?!!
Because Bill Murray
RiotOfVio and Jeff Goldblum :)
Yeah the whole cast is lit can't freaking wait!
Because we had a lot of shit movies coming up like the ttg movie.
Ogi the sergal Yeah, Isle of Dogs is way fucking better than the shitty TTG movie.
rex is messing with the mic. turning this way and that...
Seb Sandford -i loved how they made that noise work visually
I love each and everyone of these dogs.
This movie is going to be a blessing
Kushimaru Kuriarare As a matter of fact, the movie is a blessing, because it's the only good animated film of 2018.
I just got home from seeing this, and honestly It was one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. The humour, art style, composition of shots, soundtrack; it honestly felt like such a passionate piece of work. 9/10.
This was amazing, taking the time to produce this and introducing the actors in their character forms is great. Love this.
I love how the environment for some interviews have movement in them or something going on to make it more alive!
I really, really love the animation. It looks better than Fantastic Mr. Fox. The voice cast is also great. Can't wait for this film.
woodstar me too
Enjoy it, everyone. In Sweden we have to wait until MAY for this movie to be released.
How come you guys gotta wait till may 😕?
I guess the Swedish distributor doesn't realize that we want to see it, even in Sweden. It's really sad!
I can fell your pain. Same thing for Italy. Sadly.
Same for the Netherlands 😔
Least you guys can watch it. Philippines doesn’t have the movie coming here sadly
The overly-close mic to go with the mic noise in Edward Norton's segment is a brilliant touch!
Im in love with the subtle expression duke makes when he says "duke"
My classmates were talking about this movie, and one said that the animation horrified them but i wanna watch this movie
A. Sanchez yeah i guess, but good thing my boyfriend is their for me in needs
Your classmates need to be taught more about stop motion animation
I love this movie. One of my top 10s
I ALREADY KNOW IM GONNA FALL IN LOVE WITH THIS FILM.
They're so cute 😭
Wish we got to see more of them together
All of these dogs have a certain quiet charm. I love them. Can't wait to see it!
What an amazing way to show the cast interviews. I loved this. I'm a Wes Anderson fan. Can't wait to see this movie.
I literally just watched Isle Of Dogs, so here is a review of it;

*_I assure you that you will love and enjoy Isle Of Dogs~_*
Oh god, Jeff Goldblum is in it too? This is going to be interesting
I *love* how chill and candid these are.
Came here for Tilda Swinton's voice and was not dissapointed
Think, they went through all the effort to fully animate interviews, add in background movement, and fully sound design each clip JUST FOR THE INTERVIEWS. Think how great the film is gonna be
Lmao I love how they animated rex eating the mic in response to the audio quality 😂
I love the fact that they animated all the dogs to be in character to how they are in the movie, like if you look closely you realize that Oracle is looking down and reading the fancy Latin definition off of the cue card on the bamboo log in front of her.
It doesn’t get much more Wes Anderson than that.
I CAN TELL IM GOING TO ADORE EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER AND THIS FUCKING MOVIE IS PROBABLY GONNA BREAK MY HEART BECAUSE OF IT
The audio in this segments is so very good. The rex interview alone made me smile. Well done indeed.
Wes Anderson: I’m making a a stop motion movie I was wondering if yo........
Me: yes yes yes and YES!!!!
im SO excited for this movie
I can't wait to watch this!!
BRILLIANT way to introduce the film's characters! Very impressive....AND informative!
This whole thing is amazing, but I noticed two very special things: 1) Murray Abraham's Jupiter has one eye clouded over. If you've ever had an elderly dog, you know this happens, and 2) Tilda Swinton's Oracle actually had me tearing up.
I want to see this in the theater so bad
this movie needs more attention!!!!
You know a movie is good when the damn cast interviews for the movie are intresting and captivating. Its even more good when you know its an S tier movie in its genre/category before even watching it.
The editing at 3:15 was such a great detail!
Fantastic Mr. Fox was such a well made film, the way they executed the stop motion and the plot was amazing. Cant wait for this film
I didn't know scarlett johanson and Jeff goldblum voice acted in this movie :)
i love how these scenes are created around the quality of the voice actors audio, did a terrific job with ed norton
Wes Anderson, you sir are a gift.
This made me cry
i love how this is a nod to creature comforts animations
I Love When Duke Singing In This Video
Maybe the only negative criticism I could find about this movie is the fact that Nutmeg's role is only to be Chief's love interest. I kind of wish at least one member of the "party" was female. Other than that, this movie's aesthetic is flawless, the animation is creative, dialogues are funny, and it features dogs; what more could you ask for?
OMG how the way they sneezes!!!
This movie is going to be AWESOME!!!
I severely regret not going to see this in theaters. AMAZING movie.
Rex es el mejor...las expresiones mientras le habla al micrófono son geniales.
I rebuttaled with,"well, he brings all the emotion through his curating of the musical scoring and the visual expression of the extensive set development etc"
I'm curious to know what your rebbutal would have been to that statement??????????
This was so well thought of. It really gives personality to all of the characters
The animations are so subtle, aagh I love it!
After watching the movie, these interviews are just brilliant
It's Wes Anderson so hell yeah. Also it reminds me of older animatuons
Tomato TCG it's *hell. No freaking apostrophe. Yeah.
Duke always a my favourite character cause he looks cool
Cussing awesome!
irkenus I see what you did there.
King's mustache is glorious and should be RESPECTED
Somehow Bill Murray is always either in a car or a phone-box when i think of him. It's the strangest way to remember a celebrity.
rex speaking super close to the mic 😂 i love edward, he's so adorable
Hell yeah I'm going to see this movie. Wes Anderson!!
This is amazing. I love this so much.
I was always so happy when Rex talked, I love Edward Norton's voice.
2:31 Just Jeff being Jeff.
Hearing Tilda Swinton's voice come out of a pug is pure gold.
I just saw this movie today (in mexico it just premiered) and IT WAS SO AMAZING ❤️ I cant wait to see it again!
This movie was amazing!! I just wish Duke and Boss had bigger rolls, so I could hear Jeff Goldblum and Bill Murray's voices more
Man those are really good actors for the dogs. So articulate too!
This looks like such an amazing, imaginative movie. Looking forward to seeing this.
This movie is a goddamn beautiful masterpiece. I also love the awkward silence at the end 😂
You can really see how smooth and more...movement (If that makes any sense) the movie is compared to Fantastic Mr. Fox! Looks wonderful, looking forward to seeing it!!
This movie is what we need
