all due respect to P. mccoy BUT have u ever owned a dog? most dogs roll in excrement, eat rotten stuff in trash can with glee, drink from toilets, lick other dogs butts, etc. and you ask if lake water is ok to drink ?!
some lakes contain runoff from pesticides which are essentially poison, while the rest of that stuff isn't poisonous. Most lakes are fine, but it's not an unreasonable question.
