  • How to install a tire tank for livestock. Earth moving tires make great water tanks for livestock. No rust or rot ever. Cattle cannot tear them up when they are installed correctly.

    I wonder are there any good economical substitutes for those gigantic tires. I enjoy these teaching moments with you and your student. I woke up this morning thinking about you and a story about how my Grandfather.became an Earl I could be Frank about how it happened.🙄🤔frankly I come from a long line of Franks but no one in my grandfathers direct line has used the male or feminine version of the name for generations as far as I know . Grampie used the initials F.E.D. But not his first name as his Uncle Frank cashed a cheque that the post office had misdirected and he would not give Grampies money back. So that he would never lose another check he dropped Frank. I suppose fed up with the possibility of his uncle getting another one. I wonder how long it took to get used to using his second name, for the family to switch and for him to automatically respond to Earl. It’s fifty two years too late to ask him. Also hard to believe that I am older by almost nine months now . when I was 19I thought he was older than the hills I was wrong! Seventy isn’t older than the hills now that I am heading for seventy one. Mum told me that dad had a hard time turning seventy. He survived it. Have a great day🍀🌟🍀😘💞💕💞🍀🌟🍀🖖🖖🖖🖖🖖🍀🌟🍀👍👍👍👍👍🍀🌟🍀🙋🏼‍♀️

    Nice set up. And you can always spur off another tank away from that one if one is not enough or becomes too trafficked

    Greg, why is the gravel Pad soo High above the ground.
    Seems cattle may get pushed off or possibly injure themselves ??

      The pad is 16” thick. The rock settles over time. This particular pad was on the side of a hill, that is why it is so high on the back side

    Nice, but here in NM our elk would bust all that plumbing up laying and stepping in it.

    the water in the tire tank is not fully transparent as the water we drink which confirms that it has solutes ( soil & other solutes ) # the more the water is transparent & clean the more it is healthy for cattle & their rumen #

      It’s pond rain water not public drinking water. It has no chlorine in it, cows perform 100% on it !!!!

    Any injuries cattle pushing each other off of that retaining wall??

    • @gregjudyregenerativerancher
      @gregjudyregenerativerancher  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope, they are very athletic animals. I’ve seen them jump the retaining wall and land on the drinking pad!

    What is the brand of valve?

    • @gregjudyregenerativerancher
      @gregjudyregenerativerancher  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jobe Megaflow float, but the valve is a 2" brass valve that I found on the internet. $75 dollars a year ago, probably $150 now with our current inflation curve.

      @@gregjudyregenerativerancher Wow 2 inch valve seems pretty overkill, how many cows, use this tank?

    Is it freezing on winter?

    • @gregjudyregenerativerancher
      @gregjudyregenerativerancher  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Only on the surface, chop off the top ice layer and it stays clean all day with livestock drinking from it. Never drain them in the winter when you're not using them.

    Good thing sunlight isn’t going up and grass isn’t going up. Soon an electric ATV will be a better deal with cattle with a windmill or solar panel to power it.

    • @tireddad6541
      @tireddad6541 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kind of doubt it.
      One of the channels has a guy who uses tractors, lot more than that Greg uses. He has solar panels, for electric.
      On his operation he uses 150 gallons a year.
      Greg is several times bigger, but less tractor and more the economic al vehicles.
      So maybe Greg spends 600 gallons a year?
      Totally guessing.
      They better be able to afford that.

    Tires contain benzene this is not a good idea

      Water samples have been tested multiple times, zero trace of chemicals. The plastic bottles that we drink water out of, same thing.

      Don't know about test. But they use to put it down in school yards and government made them stop and take up what they had put down.
