    Great video. Those are some great finds you got at the antique shop. I've got 2 of those slim super speeds and I get incredibly smooth shaves with them. They are very mild razors, but great shavers. If you get a chance try some Personna blades. The platinum, and personna reds are my go-to blades along with Feathers. But everyones face and skin is different. You'll know when you find the perfect match of razor, blade, soap and technique for a BBS shave. I hit the jackpot yesterday when I got a Fatboy, slim super speed, and silver flair tip off a bid site for $7.99. Already have multiples of each, but for that price I couldn't pass them up. Look forward to you next video.

      Wow, that is a great deal. I have a sample pack of blades that I will slowly work through. I will put the personna on my list. Thanks for your comment.

    Fantastic vintage finds! I am expecting my first Gillette in the next day or so, very excited. Great word of the day, but I am definitely going to fail the test later. Cheers

    Hello Heiko, very nice new finds. The "unknown" Gillette is a 40s style Super Speed. As for cleaning I prefer quite mild using hot water with dish soap and a tooth brush after soaking in soap water, Nevr-Dull wadding polish and lastly the rubberized side of a nail polishing file. For the Gillette Adjustables to get between the base plate and the blade tray pipe cleaners (Pfeifenreiniger) are very helpful. Also simple tooth picks are great to clean the knurling and to remove lime deposits. After taking care of dozens of vintage Gillettes and trying diffent methods its what works the best in my opinion.

    I'm the same way with face lathering. Especially if I push down with boar brush poking my skin. I will feel it later and my skin will be all red. I basiacly paint my face trying never to rub anything in.

      Thanks for your comment. Everyone is different. I found a bowl that works well and doesn't cost much. With that bowl lathering is much easier.

      @Heiko shaves lol, overly. But I LOVE my 1960s all metal black beauty, my 1950s Fab 4 and a couple that I haven't tried out yet - I don't change razors until it is time for a blade change - but 2 Gillettes that my mom sent over. I haven't had time to clean and date them yet. But hopefully soon.

    I definitely have vintage razor envy. My only vintage razor is an almost unused G-4 Aristocrat Slim Adjustable. I'm always struck by the thought that the Slim is old enough that either my Father or Grandfather could have used it. And, one day I'd love to get a refurbished Fatboy, but they are very pricey. So, in the mean time perhaps a red tip. I do prefer aggressive razors, I find they give me far less irritation.

    • @Heiko-shaves
      @Heiko-shaves  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would just check out your local antique store. Maybe you come across a Fatboy that is in mint conditions for not much money.
      The slim adjustable I have is pretty mint.
      Razor emporium has a pretty good video on how to clean sanitize and gently restore one of those vintage razors.
      It is crazy how long those razor last and how well they work after decades of neglect and abuse. Thanks for your comment.

      @@Heiko-shaves Funnily enough I'm looking to bid on a Fatboy today. they're not as cheap over here in the UK. P.S. I saw in one of your videos that you prefer TTO you should have a look at the Single Edge Leaf twig (mild) and Leaf Thorn (aggressive)

    • @Heiko-shaves
      @Heiko-shaves  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kevindean9503 Interesting, Let me know if I can help you get your hands on a cheaper FatBoy. The Leaf razors are already on my radar. Thanks for your comment.

      @@Heiko-shaves Thanks, Heiko. I missed out on the auction FatBoy. However, I have my eye on some restored ones too. One of them a Executive which I think I'm going to go for. Now I just need to convince myself to spend the money. Ouch. Start wet shaving they said, you'll save money they said. Hahaha. :-)
