  • Follow along as we try to make our charter boat more liveaboard friendly for our family of 6. We switch out our propane appliances for electric, install a washing machine, water maker, full size refrigerator, build a solar arch, install 4 solar panels, changed out AGM to LiFePO4 batteries, and installed a 5kw inverter.

    Beautiful family. This has instantly become our favorite channel because it’s real and not some YT fantasy sailing channel.

    I have probably at least 4 years to go before I can say "last day of work" but hearing it on the video just cheers me up. Congrats on the dream/boat - I'll be following along.

    Nice to see you finishing items of the To Do list. Here are a few things.
    You have a lot of heat generating items in that electric cabinet/box- you may find that you need air inlet and outlet grates plus a small 12v box fan with thermo switch to keep things cool.
    Given your family size and electrical demands (like full size refrig and AC- my understanding is that refrigs with inverter compressors use much less power- but that would probably be a refit for a pro ) I would have gone with bifacial PV panels in the 450w range, but they do cost $$s and weigh more. Reflected light on bottom of panel is significant for your set up.
    At some point, consider getting a $70 12v HF ATV hitch motor for raising and lowering the dinghy using cables, as manual effort gets old quickly.
    The Bahamas Guide you have is very good. Food, especially US brands) will be expensive in Bahamas- ValueMax? in Nassau are reasonable as well as Maxwell's in Marsh Harbor in Abaco's. Best to really stock up in US.
    Look forward to future sailing videos and great to hear you are all set with bulkheads.

    Great job Daniel!! We may have missed it from the beginning, but two questions. Did you guys have sailing experience already and how did you know how to do all of the installations and wiring? Keep up the great work!!

    Did y’all inspect the bulkheads prior to all the upgrades??

    • @sailingmachete
      @sailingmachete  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, we did! There was some moisture but did not affect the structural integrity of the bulkhead. We drilled the holes from Lagoon’s ‘service bulletin’.

    Do you have video and plan to share details of the electric and solar work, plus how you framed the solar arch? ... I'd find that most interesting, and I'm sure the same goes for many others. FYI, there's lots of "lifestyle" sailing channels .. they're kinda a dime a dozen!!!!! .. and fewer showing HOW-TO by a guy who obviously knows how to get sh#t done! Thanks!

      Will try to give more details on future videos! Daniel didn’t really film himself working or narrate much when he did film. We may do some videos on more of all the work he did and does. Thank you for watching!
