- Some guy goes over all the super small details he seemingly searched for, for several hours in TF2's latest, greatest and last comic; The Days Have Worn Away.
The fact for for is grammatically correct annoys the hell outta me man.

You know Helen isn't a reliable narrator when her memories are full of STAIRS before Abraham Lincoln invented them
those are ramps for trimping
No, you can only see the banister. It's a surf ramp
NOW I KNOW WHO TO BLAME ON SKYSCRAPERS
I still can't believe it, Spaceguy. The final comic, and it's not a rushed thing to appeal to the fans - it's a well made story that connects all dots and ends the story. I have no idea why they suddenly decided to make it... but here we are.
Yes I'm so happy that they took there time because most of devs just want money and they don't care about quality and stuff
meh, it's not bad but really underwhelming
@@me67galaxylife Why so toxic in the comments? You're that guy who ruins all reply threads.
@@me67galaxylife
Fair enough, but tbh, anything would be underwhelming after 7 years of waiting, no matter what.
@@umrayquazashinyapareceu1672 nah honestly i mean at least for me i didn't stack up expectations, i didn't know what to expect
i think this is not what they had originally planned 7 years ago though, if they had something planned at all, because it doesn't feel like it
I think what the Administrator ment by "she forgot." Is that simply she's been so focused on making Zepheriah's life hell by keeping him alive and torturing him, she just forgot as to why she did it in the first place. We the reader know why, it's because he's responsible for killing her parents thanks to the covers. But for her personally she kept this game going for so many years, that eventually she just couldn't be bothered to remember anymore.
It's worth mentioning that there is more than one cover of her parents being killed three different ways. So not only does she not remember, but how her parents die contradict each other and that the presence of the 3 covers is meant to be up to the reader's interpretation.
Maybe that's also why there are 3 different pictures of her crying over her dead parents in completely different situations. She can't even remember _how_ they died, if she even remembers that they were killed at all.
"if I'm going to have a past, I prefer it to be multiple choice!"

3:10 An even funnier detail: The Trail marks under Soldier's feet tells us that Soldier didn't change his stance when he turned to Zahana... Implying that Soldier had turned around while staying stock still like a statue, much like an SFM or Gmod Skit.
This really feels like a homage to the Fanbase as a result.
The funniest thing, that turning THAT WAY around fitting for character!XD
Dude just t posed, crouched, and span
Even if its not true I will gaslight myself and believe you because that makes this play out so much funnier than it already was.

3:03 It's a racoon zombie, reference to soldier turning Merasmus castle into a racoon sanctuary
Also a refrence to his Halloween racoon cosmetic too
Indeed, something that should be rather blatantly obvious if one has read the comics.

A few extra details:
3:15 The dirt on the ground under Soldier implies he literally rotated in place like in a gmod skit.
3:30 Demo also has no eyepatch.
4:18 Team Ajax used to be called Team Vanguard, but was probably renamed to fit the alphabetical theme
I knew i wasn't going crazy with the Vanguard team.
@@Dafuqinator7 The real issue isn't the lack of an eyepatch (I mean if you fell asleep you'd probably take it off akin) it's the fact he actually has eyelids at all since Monoculus is just his eye straight up
@@SpaceGuyOnline headcanon: Medic helped Demo get the eyelid and JUST eyelid back [getting the whole eye back would upset the curse or whatever]
My favorite scene wasn’t even mentioned here where Engineer in the most honest and natural way he can, suggests to Miss Pauling to dump all her newfound Austrilium into the deepest depths of the ocean, after experiencing all the pain they caused over generations of battles and betrayal, and Pauling after thinking it over agrees, knowing that engie is the best person she can listen to, considering he is the only mercenary to not over do it with his level of war crimes.
I love it because it perfectly portrays Engie’s character in a way that works after giving us one of the most iconic finale sequences with both who caused all this fading away, while Engie tries to end it in a way that still gives Pauling the choice to stop the cycle, in a way that feels more like honest and respectful advice rather than just him telling her what not to do.
He solves practical problems. That's about the most practical problem there is.
An extra detail is the title of the comic itself, "The Days Have Worn Away". This is (from what I've found) a Charles Dickens reference, specifically from Great Epectations. The line is said in the book by the character of Miss Havisham:
> There was not much time to consider the subject, for we were soon in Miss Havisham’s room, where she and everything else were just as I had left them. Estella left me standing near the door, and I stood there until Miss Havisham cast her eyes upon me from the dressing-table.
> “So!” she said, without being startled or surprised; “the days have worn away, have they?”
Doing a bit of digging, I found that Miss Havisham's character actually reflects the Administrator's character in the flashbacks in a number of ways. She's an old spinster woman who was defrauded by a man who pretended to fall in love with her and marry her, only to leave her at the altar and steal her money. After this, she began to live a life of solitude and misery in her manor house, always wearing her wedding gown and having the clocks stopped. The manor house became ruined over time and she became visibly aged and withered due to lack of sunlight. She adopted a daughter called Estella with the intent to keep her safe, but over time became cold-hearted and began to use her as an instrument of revenge, training her to break the hearts of men in order to take vicarious revenge for her own pain. In the novel, she uses her to break the heart of the protagonist, Pip.
Essentially, she's a woman whose whole life became defined by a single man ruining her, resulting in her living alone in an English manor house that became steadily more decrepit and she became steadily more miserable and cruel, seeking to take revenge against that man by causing pain through the manipulation of others, most especially a young woman she controls personally, all around about the middle of the 19th century. Sounds like the Administrator in those flashback panels showing her revenge on Zepheniah, the misery that followed, and her relationship with Miss Pauling, no?
There are a fair few differences in the characters too (Miss Havisham comes to regret her actions) but a good number of similarities. I can't say whether the writers were taking Miss Havisham as inspiration or if they just saw the parallels themselves, but considering that all the titles and covers of the comics are a reference to something (Ring of Fired, Unhappy Returns, A Cold Day In Hell etc. are riffs on common sayings), I don't think it's too much of a stretch to say that they are at least referencing her here. Or I'm wrong and this is more 'what seven years without updates does to a mf' delusion on my part.
Hehe, Dickens
That honestly seems very spot on, what an insightful analysis.
I think you're correct
@@AbiBomb Yeah, I posted this there too.

@@sunshineskystar He does care, as the War would have dragged his sisters into the conflict.
Finding out it was all to fuel a petty woman's ego probably stung even more as he fought his way out of a Gulag to escape such pettiness.
@@Victor-056 Yeah it was definitely just him feeling like the last few years of his life were pointless. Like, don't get me wrong, he valued getting to send the money back to his family, but he was sending it to them as they stayed in the middle of the Siberian wastes.
He could have been happily living with them in America for years, but he kept them there because he thought he was keeping them safe. In reality, this war was over nothing but a petty grudge held for too long.
6:05 the middle book is a joke about how the statue is Bronze and not alabaster like depicted (in most things, really)
Spy unmasked was the best Smissmass present ever.
when i first heard that the 7th comic was actually in the works, i think i like almost everyone was skeptical it would a) come out and b) be good, but i can confidently say that the team knocked it out of the goddamn park. the art is goddamn beautiful, and while i thought it was a bit of an asspull of "oh soldier had australium the whole time!!!!" but i can look past that and appreciate this comic for what it is, a labor of love. thank you so much, comic team!!!!
Honestly i think the detail that the australium soldier had the whole time being pointless to the plot makes it easier to look past
But what was the point of adding
Soldier having Australim? They don't give it to Administrator in the end
So kinda pointless
@@self-proclaimedanimatorIt allows Miss Pauling to let go of the past by choosing not to give it to Administrator and dump it in the trench, ending the cycle. It's moreso thematically than narratively important
@@self-proclaimedanimatorIn addition, if they ever decide to do a tf3 thats what they can use as a plot starter
It’s about as contrived as Medic owning 9 souls and doing a deal with the devil to come back to life, so I can excuse it.
6:50 Silas was only ever referred to as 'the long-lost member of the Mann family'. Not Zephaniah's brother.
3:53 I always assumed Zhanna was just behind everybody else inside the plane.
(HC) She's hanging on outside lol
It makes sense that a mini-series that was supposed to be finished in 2014 would have quite a few writing flubs when there is a 7 year gap between releases
3:30 Demo missing his eye patch is a clear reference to the fact that people using them usually take 'em off before going to sleep.
DEEP LORE!!!!11
7 years of waiting the final comic. It was worth it. Totally worth it.
The guy in the photo is probably Soldier himself. He's never been given any kind of backstory which isn't abnormal, but we also know he's been living in a cave of Australium for who knows how long. That's probably extended his live pretty far. As far as I remember, we never get an explanation as to why he actually has that photo, or what he was going to say when he pulled it out. He was probably some kind of body guard or merc for the Mann family who has just lived so long and gone mad from so much war after all these years.
I like that theory! That's my headcanon now :)
I never thought of that
Fun fact: Before the 7th comic, TFC Heavy calls it Team Vanguard instead of Team Ajax, this is likely to make it tie into the statue
I'm confused. WDYM?
@ When TFC Heavy was listing down the teams they hunted and killed, originally it was Team Vanguard that was mentioned last, but it was likely changed to tie into the statue, meaning we have a team name for the A at the top, the way TFC heavy talks about Vanguaed(now Ajax) makes them seem like they’re tougher, just by the tone though, plus they’re at the top of the statue.
I like to think Vanguard/Ajax was the Administrator’s best team
@@veryangryman4314ok, so may i have a question, where are TFC red team, since they've killed the blu one?
13:47 Soldier never explains why he needs the money nor why it's linked with this photo, absolute cinema. ✋️😐🤚

@@cadsquadeto buy the last Captain Dan's army surplus soup for the dinner of course!!!
15:17 It kinda reminds Administrator's plot. Just like Charles Daling, she wanted to get the australium to look into sad eyes of the Mann, for pure joy and satisfaction
I'm going to headcanon that Tom Jones and Merasmus are doing the Salt and Pepper Diner during the party, 20 What's New Pussy Cats but after the 6th What's New Pussy Cat they will play It's Not Unusual then continue the What's New Pussy Cats
My favorite comedy skit
Guy in the picture was probably meant to hint at Grey before they hashed out his story more
@@RebelTrooperHoth To completely dispell this theory since it's one of the more common answers.
Grey Mann as a character was first created alongside the photo in question, as in Zeph's will and the family photo were created in conjunction with one another.
Meaning it makes very very very little sense why Grey, who was blackmailing Zeph for his australium cache would then be by his father's deathbed... and go completely unnoticed by everyone else present as well
Grey also introduced himself to Redmond and Blutarch moments before he killed them. They didn't recognize him and were surprised by the fact that they even had a third brother. If Grey was on the photo with the other Mann brothers, they would have met him and would have known who he was.
it's possible silas mann was disowned from the mann family at some point, and zepheniah refers to himself as an only child because he doesn't even want to acknowledge his brother's existence. that's my headcanon, anyway
Disowning is technically making himself an only son and I can see Zeph considering that a ‘win’ on a technicality

Luckily it’s not illegal where I’m from!
At 16:11 soldier holds out a brick that Murasmus binds his soul to. That brick is a brick and a brick in the soldier’s hand, therefore it is the brickiest brick.
The joke is that there is a LITERAL brick in the comic with actual story relevance.

7th comic huh? I feel like there's a lot of symbolism with the number 7 with other medias and franchises. But overall, god damn this made me cry... I'm glad that the mercs got their happy and well deserved ending.
I believe the middle person in that photo of “where all this started” would be Greymann, he was always looked down upon mentioned as a useless and incompetent, stories of such where he was taken by an eagle as a child which Grey debunks and also had studied great knowledge of Australium, spent his 30 years to fully comprehend the information and probably used it to regain the lost years, probably the free time he had and no one took attention that he was there, being the neglected one. The only time he was ever given attention was the photo of, Silas, Barnabus, Redmond and Blutarc, whole family photo basically, upon it being made, then a little bit forward a few days, Greymann and Zephaniah had a argument which was deeply heated and probably shook Redmond’s and Blutarc’s boots, in response Zephaniah exiles Grey for a time till Zephaniah dies and when he died, Grey returned to the manor after hearing his father’s death. And we have the moment where Grey revived Administrator.

I still can't believe it ended on Saxton and Mags commiting suicide. That hit hard.
They don’t commit suicide actually, Mags says they could jump and potentially survive, while Saxton says they should die fighting
I mean that page is confirmed to take place in 2024. They will die either way from old age.
They’d mangled a few cheetahs already, who’s to say they couldn’t fight through/scare off the rest?
I don't think they commited suicide, or even necessarily died in that panel. I think Saxton Hale just said that as a way to refute the concept of living forever through Australium, and also refute the concept of giving up. I mean, it doesn't matter whether they live or die trying, they might as well fight.
@@skeptic_lemonthis makes more sense
6:40 Silas Mann could be Zephaniah's second cousin based on other information Zephaniah gives us in the same scene that he says he's an only son. Zephaniah's grandfather Ebenezer had 4 older brothers - so entirely possible that one of them fathered a child before their deaths.
how does zepheniah mann showing up as a ghost in halloween make sense now?
@@T_Jester If you want an explanation from the writers mouth it's "We don't really care, it's funny either way and his ghost is from 2009 when this was planned in like 2018"

scouts kids and mom not being at the dinner will forever haunt me
She was just keeping the kids occupied in the living room for a sec.
I actually asked where Scout's Ma was during the dinner on a Pinterest post, and me and the replies came to the conclusion she is either at one of Scout's brothers' Christmas party or she's passed away(I highly prefer the first option, and it makes a lot of sense considering how big the Willis family is)
I think the mysterious person that Scout shows in at the very end is meant to represent the TF2 community, and when he says “We couldn’t have done any of this without you” is a big thank you from Valve.
Since we’re finally getting some tf2 content after 7 years, could this be a teaser for the Next Update?! Heavy Update?!
3:01 that is a Raccoon. Soldier's cave was full of them.
Maybe the real fortresses were the teams we made along the way

I never thought this day would come but it has after do many years of waiting I lost hope only to have my faith restored. We got the final tf2 comic before GTA 6
Personally The Soldier had X the whole time plot was a good hook to build up the tension and the payout of it being all for nothing was unexpected. Was it good ? No but it work since that's the point of comic 7. Even the Blog for Comic 7 also talk about how The Series atleast got an Ending and how lucky you are to see it happened.
One could said they Cope out but just like TF2 current state, if it is even worth to keep The Game Alive when the whole point of it being lost.
-The Admin lost her mind as She keep Living despite the fact of already Dead seem like a good anology to The Lost of -Art Style as The Game keep going on.
-The Game Economy (Australium = Cosmetic/Items being worthless to Outsiders but to People who want to live forerver from Gray Mann monolouge = TF2 Players) being what keep it alive. Unlike how any Online Game On The Market that should have dead from normal cause of Time and Mistake.
-The Ending being Saxton and Maggie the love of his life vs Cheetah is quite frankly Poetic for not only coming full circle with the whole Theme of end time but also call back to First Saxton debut.
-The Mercs Story have an happy ending with you being part of it.
It’s actually beautiful. Spy taking off his mask, soldier having kids, same for scout, the continuation is amazing.

Man, still surprised we actually got the final issue, and that it's a damn good closure to the story.
Nor did I expect the administrator to easily take "The Biggest Hater" award of the century.
Unless I'm mistaken, Silas was never confirmed to be a brother, only an undefined relative.likely a cousin from one of the "failed' brothers.
@@PotatoPatatoVonSpudsworth Correct although brother is a fairly common assumption and likely what Valve was expecting.
Zeph's father apparently had all his sisters perish in a house fire before the age of 17 and he was a middle child.
I mean theoretically it's possible that one of them married and had a kid before hand but that's an insane amount of thinking and reasoning to place behind a character that's mentioned 3 times in total hence the whole "yup brothers" line of thought.

One thing I like is that Zephaniah's holding chamber seems to be a more "grounded" version of the storage room underneath Harvest Event.
It's got a tv, a place to sit, some documents, only one door in or out, and Zephaniah sitting there, suspended in the middle of the room bathed in an unnatural blue glow
So. Here it is. Closure. Of a kind. The end of an era. The end of TF2. The end of Red and Blu and Grey. The end of the administrator. The end of the Gravel Wars.
And all that will remain is cosmetics and maps.
that last line was a reference?! I thought it was just a really clever line considering the whole point of the tf2 lore.
How you pronounce Silas hurts.
I'm furious on how he pronounces Zhanna, it's not "Zahanna" - [zh] should sound like [dj] in "Jean" without [d]
High key, the final dialogue exchange with the audience and Scout legit made me cry. Its been a helluva journey. I love this game 😭
A detail that I have yet to see anyone talk about is how once the Australium runs out, zethania lays his head eyes on Helen and starts to cry
Were those tears of Great Depression or of fear
Could be that Zephamiah's brother never tried fighting him directly for their inheritance and legacy. Thus, while he does have a brother, Zephamiah considers himself an "Only Brother" because he's the only one that wanted to engage in their family's bloody history.
Cant believe hottest brick dubbed scout
20:06 when it says now does is mean 2024? if so then this scene really hits hard.
Yes
4:30 I actually think that the statue of the teams is there to commemorate the ones who were killed by TFC and they out F up there just believing they’d die but had to hastily remove it once they learned they hadn’t
Also the person in the ripped photo is probably Gray, just as a teaser
3:03 erm actually that's a racoon
I always thought the Pyro was the perspective character on the dinner page, I never even saw them staring at the turkey until now
Although I loved this conclusion, it still left a lot of loose ends like explaining Silas Mann's role in all this and how he became an immortal monster just for starters or what happened to Engineer's father
Engie just suddenly appearing at the end, was absolutely hilarious for some reason 😂
TF2 CMMIC 7 IS REEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAL
I am in disbelief that the 2fort lore from the third issue is real.

I still think the ending to this series is perfect, that final image, man. It’s everything I ever wanted.

And now the next cosmetic case Is gonna be full of hats based on the final merc designs.
Hopefully they add the maskless spy cosmetic

It's finally done...The lore is done.
I think it would be cool if scout had a picture of his team in his house.
But I must say, that comic had me crying
closure at last. tf2 has been around since 2006, and as far as i know, it's effectively the great grandfather of class/hero shooters, kickstarting the genre and setting expectations on what those games need to succeed. tf2 has overcome things that would've killed other games, the brutal murder of the stickybomb launcher (for a week or so), the bot crisis, all those iconic weapons. the Sandman, Axtinguisher, Eyelander, Gunboats, Dead Ringer, Conniver's Kunai, Degreaser, and so many others. upsettingly, i've never had the opportunity to ever play Team Fortress 2 (i have played Typical Colors 2 since 2020), but i've been invested in this community, this one game, since around 2017, (i was born 2010) the mercs have been as big a part of my childhood as Sega and the Harvey Boys. Scout, Soldier, Pyro, Demo, Heavy, Engie, Medic, Sniper and Spy and all their weapons have cemented themselves as icons in gaming, and if i've learned anything from the legacy of Halo 3 and Splatoon, dedicated communities never truly die. i'll be sticking around, and maybe one day, i'll be able to cross the bridge of 2fort instead of watching a video of someone else doing it. for now, have a good day/night, and goodbye.
The admin and mann's dust poofs into a heart! mention it!
3:03 darling that is a raccoon
What!!?!?!? I didn't know they released comic 7, gonna go read it now
I still believe that the figure in the middle of the photo was meant to represnet Gray. Like, I know it doesn't make sense for him to be in the picture, but I think that that's essesntially what Valve was initially going for
thats why they retconned it out
I think it makes sense why the admin forgot why she was even doing that, and why we got multiple different pictures of her parents dying. She legit doesn't remember. Think about it, she has been juicing herself up all this time to live forever to torture a man. All that rage and anger throughout years and years possibly became so blinding that she forgot why she even did it on the first place.
Truly a beauty that we live to see the end of an era.
brings a tear to me eye
I have to do this joke
we have tf2 comic 7 before gta6

I genuinely cried at the Swissmass part
His name is Silas. Why are you pronouncing it like it's "Sialas"?
Zepheniah killed the Administrator's dad because he had more hats than him.
the end of the comic made me tear up
the guy in the middle of the picture is acctually a random homeless man that refused to leave the picture
Peace will be upon you
Regarding Silas as while Zephaniah could of just hated his brother so much as to not think of him as his brother as a sort of competitive thing with him, my theory is that Silas could be that one family member who not only didn't want to be part of this feud to decide who gets to be top of the family, but that he could of left the family business and go off on his own much like Olivia does, as well as being caring enough about his brother to visit him on his death bed. But Zephaniah would of been so mad at this that he personally went out of his way to disconnect Silas from everything from his life until his final days as he was either so out of it that he couldn't remember why he hated Silas in the moment or had some shred of family love to let him in, but probably never refer to him as his brother. That's just my take though.
Lots of people agree it's most likely that the guy in the torn image was a Darling. Could be Blu and Red's uncle or cousin or even their grandpa (somehow). Remember Blu/Gray/Red Mann's mother Bette was a Darling? (I know this was covered by the video but I just wanna repeat it)
No shot we actually got TF2 Comic-7 before GTA-
