This is such a good movie. If you are thinking about watching it-just do it. I’m an adult who watched it with my 60 year old mother and we were both sleeping with our lights on after this. It starts as really subtle horror that builds and builds to the point that your heart is pounding uncontrollably. The eerie atmosphere and constant anxiety it creates is insane. I wish I could forget this just to watch it again. This movie deserves a lot more recognition. Edit: I’m glad to see a lot of people liked the film. HOWEVER, I am a Christian and I feel compelled to warn other Christians that I was very unsettled for weeks after watching. I can’t even explain it.
@@papiiwudafonz3696 Well I am not sure I know of a movie just like The Autopsy of Jane Doe, but I can give you recs in some of my favorite categories: Demonic themes (truthfully these are the only ones that scare me): 1&2. Some of my all time favorites are The Conjuring I and II. I actually think the second is better. Not as scary as The Autopsy of Jane Doe but not for the faint of heart either. I promise you’ll jump at a lot of parts. As far as plot and character development goes, these are some of the best out there. Too often plots and believable characters are lost in the horror genre. 3. The Popes Exorcist. If you’re familiar with the Catholic Church at all I think this is a great suggestion. It’s hard to find well done exorcism movies but I promise some of the scenes in there will make you squirm. Had to sleep with my light on. (If you like the above suggestion, consider The Rite. They are so so similar but IMO The Pope’s Exorcist is a little better overall). 4. The Exorcism of Emily Rose (especially freaky if you know the true story behind it). I don’t know if I got so freaked out because I know the true story but this really messed with me. Horror/thrillers (I wouldn’t classify these as scary but I absolutely loved): 1. The Orphan (LOVE LOVE LOVE. This is an amazing horror thriller that will keep your heart pounding). Second one wasn’t bad either. 2&3. A Quiet Place I and II (not terrifying but definitely will stop your heart a few times). 3. Escape room (this was surprisingly so so good. Triggered my anxiety haha). 4. Split (I found this movie so entertaining and some parts did freak me out. Such an incredible concept) 5. Don’t Breathe (I don’t even have to say anything about this, just top tier all around). Non-religious horror that’s scary (sorry for limited selection): 1. The Haunting of Hill House series (can’t say enough good things). This series may not seem scary at first but it just progresses further and further. By the last episode, I couldn’t watch it at night. Recommend Bly Manor if you like this!! 2. The Babadook. Creepy and brilliantly executed. 3. The Visit (I’ll admit this is an unpopular opinion. I think you either love or hate this and I just found it so entertaining and unsettling). Classic horror series (these are just movies I think every horror fan should watch but know the first movie is always going to be the best): 1. Scream movies 2. IT 3. Sinister 4. Insidious
