No way. Is this the mad lad that partakes in video games in peculiar and unknown ways?
The very same
A lot of WWII flak actually used timed fuzes to explode at a set altitude, the proximity fuse came later in the war.
Btw, the fuzes were top secret at the time and the allies put in quite a bit of effort to keep it that way.
the secret was guarded on a similar level as the atomic bomb, and it could be said that VT fuses were one of the things that won the war.
I was going to write this exact comment. I don't mind watching this channel and others about hoi4. But it amazes me how little they know about history, even the basic stuff.
Yeah the VT fuse was very secret, and only really used by the UK and US. Germans researched them but never entered mass production for use, instead they used radar aimed guns with timed fuses.
production was crazy expensive
They were so secret infact that the US refused to use them in come cases becasue they were afraid that the Axis would get them via capturing artillery and ships
We shall fight them in the skies, we shall fight them in the stratosphere, we shall fight them at the sound barrier and at mach one.
historically the first jet engine was created in 1936 and the first jet plane flew in 1939. there were some mechanical issues with it and hitler wanted jet dive bombers not fighters so the me262 was delayed in development and apparently the only reason it was eventually made was the luftwaffe convinced hitler they could use it as a bomber.
The guy was a nut job
@anton33779 decades of drug abuse will do that to a mf
@@ADobbin1 the 262 dive bomber delay has been debunked multiple times
@anton33779it's a widespread occurrence that after the fall of Germany, all generals and people with power blamed all their shortcomings somehow on Hitler, to appear better.
@@abeeceedee1842 what's that got to do with the guy being a total nut job? You saying he wasn't?
For more aluminium as the UK can always built infrastucture in British Guiana has alot and for rubber Ceylon is a good choice to build infrastucture.
@@stue2298 annexing Malaya is also a great move as they only have a generic focus tree
@@nicolasbroaddus8819 Does take time to do that and alot of PP, hard to do that early game.
@@stue2298 You build towards it with their infrastructure and airbases, which you'll need anyway
Proximity fuses send out radiowaves that when properly reflected will be sensed and pop the fuse, causing it to explode.
However most WW2 "flak" was distance fuse, which exploded after a certain distance.
Nice video though!
Proximity fuses are a naval project because the Royal and US Navies were looking for the biggest bang for their buck in terms of AA power. Most flak you allude to in WWII movies were time fuses, which work ok on land when you can place a bajillion flak guns, but not so much at sea where even batleships and carriers had 20 heavy AA guns max
Which is kinda weird because it was the Battle of Britain which led the UK to examine proximity fuses (They were looking for more than 'okay') and the Tizzard Mission which passed the research (They had managed to get prox fuses to work in rockets but not artillery shells (AA or otherwise)) to the US which managed to figure out putting them in artillery shells (Both AA and ground attack artillery). In the UK it was the TRE (Basically the RAF RADAR research lab) and in the US it was the NDRC which wasn't tried to any single branch of the military though some of the NIST researchers ended up forming the US Army labs.
Basically it doesn't make sense it'd be Navy, this is likely due to the developers hearing about the fuse more in relation to the Pacific theatre specifically regarding stopping Kamikaze attacks which it was quite good at doing.
@@purplefood1 huh, today i learnes
I'm really amused that you made a video with the entire point of getting Jet aircraft and then you just don't record yourself using them.
Genius.
They show up in the air combat screens but no model :(
So the trick to making the early jets work is you want to use the twin engine, not singular. At the cost of range and not quite twice the IC, you get twice the speed, 5% agility, and 38 thrust allowing you to load the plane down with whatever modules you want (usually triple cannons and extra fuel tanks). Speed factors into the damage dealt calculation twice - relative speed AND absolute speed. It's the stat you have the least control over, because adding more engines doesn't add more speed - but it's one of the more important ones.
Basically - get improved air frame, make a few lines of the absolute cheapest planes you can make and then once the jet project is done, have all but one of those lines start converting them to your updated jet fighter. You'll definitely want to research the conversion bonus to drop the cost significantly.
> Embargo
I think the word you're looking for is Blockade. Embargo is just when you're refusing to trade with someone. Blocking their shipping entirely is called a Blockade.
I definitely want to see a video focusing on getting the modern jet. Sounds like a fun one to watch!

Dave , you forgot that mechanise with speed upgrades drives faster then motorised.
Do next time 2 generals with commando, do 1 of them to field marschal and get camo trait for combined 75% cas reduction and air superiority reduction specialist.
Now you can ignore air and can build advanced light tank fast spgs with mot/mechanised.
With 50% hardness you can blitz them and SPGs will clean up the stacks faster then you arrive and can overrun.
Mechs drive 15.5 at the end.
Also horse have a good speed potencial with hungary too, you get to 7.3 with ammo MIO and doctrine.
Dont forget that support like cav recon only reach this speed with mess assault, ranger ride with 6.4 and the mot recon is also fixed at 12 , helicopter on 10.
The only real option is fast light tank or later the armored car but its also not fast enough.
You can put jet engines into tanks, dont forget that.
What you said about FlaK is kinda true, afaik the fuze on the FlaK shells was set manually and shot not at the planes but into an area in the sky where the bombers would be.
Think of it as making a cloud of explosions right on the bombers, lots of calculations and stuff went into that.
FlaK is the german acronym for FliegerAbwehrKanone basically PlaneDefenceCannon.
I wouldn't be surprised if the jet bonus doesn't apply to the modern air frames now if not the focus was just never updated and that bonus is meaningless.
Prior to proxy fuses they were timed fuses the crews of the guns had to use a tool to imput the time into each shell before loading and firing. It was a guessing game. It took allot of shells to down one aircraft. Once they came up with shells that send out a ping in the direction of travel and when it pings off an object like an aircraft it then explodes. The number of shells needed per aircraft was reduced considerably. But the allies were very careful with these shells under the possibility that the enemy may gain some of these and reverse engineer and produce their own. The Germans never developed a proxy fuse for flak shells, but they did develop the world's first Surface to Air Missile. But the testing equipment was destroyed by aircraft before it could be set up and used.
start of video, jets stronk i must research them, middle of video motorized go brrrt, end of video: look how cool the jet stats are, i am not going to use them
feedback, you can actually get jets faster as the us as you get a 100% bonus to the medium airframe in 1937, getting jets in 38 or 39, having a full air wing by 1940/ 41
Cas jets in 40? That sounds hilarious
Calls his video a focus on Jet Planes, ends up running a full Mobile Motorized Britain.

i KNOW that truck infantry are just trucks carry soldiers. but i imagine that truck infantry are trucks with m1-grands welded around them that just drive over and shoot the other troops
This is why I am a speedmaxxer. Also in millenium dawn you can get divisions that go 50kmh+ with helicopters, its very fun.
I was just playing USSR in a long playthrough into the 1950’s, go into a 3rd world war with Allies and I was surprised at how much I decimated the UK and US Navy with naval bomber jets lol, and that was all vanilla with Ironman mode
As a navy lover my brain gets an aneurysm whenever he deletes any ship in production
Hopefully an oversight that helicopters are so slow, that makes no sense they are helicopters
You can use all small airframe MIOs on them if you make them CAS. Just put rocket rails in first slot and gear up rest for fighter. Then you can use all MIOs on them.
Jets are really good when you're on the defensive. As the UK, range matters too much. France can get them super early and don't mind the range debuff. As Soviets, you can use them to prepare a nice warm welcome for Barbarossa
Put on carriers, range doesnt really matters.
What mods do you use to see the penalties that will be when you build civs or mills (u see that -30% for example)
Hey, I'm not FeedBackGaming. And I watch people play games not the way they're meant to be played
32 minute mark, shouldve added mermaid man going "bring it on!"
it's worth noting that the AI most certainly DOES mix subs with their surface fleet, whenever I tag switch over at the end of a game I always see a mix of modern and earlier submarine hulls in their big doomstacked fleets and, now that we've got fleet submarines capable of doing like 25kmh, you can quite feasibly & rather cheaply make a super hard hitting and disgustingly overpowered surface fleet with a some level 1 BB's/BC's and their screens and have a like 15 fleet subs in there with zero speed penalty beyond whatever your armor/gun preferences for capital ships are.
you could say, they are a generational leap ahead
Hi there. What’s that mod that shows the penalties/buffs for construction speed?
Thanks!
@@zico91raul yeah i need that asap aswell
Fun fact since i havent seen it mentioned here yet, using the US you can get supersonic jets before japan attacks the Philippines allowing you do completely obliterate enymy airforces even when severely out numbered.
what mods do you use for the visual construction bonuses? it's really handy
Could you do some more zooms when youre showing stats? Like 36:50
I dont have the DLC with plane design so i have jet techs. There are 6 in total now. 2 fighters, 2 tactical bombers, 1 strategic bomber and 1 jet engine which i assume is for super sonic secret project maybe. Guess paradox haven't changed the tree to work with DLC lmao.
I have not try, yet, but I'm pretty sure you can get jets more early with USA. They have 2 bonus research for small airframes in the tech tree, 3 if the brits send the Tizard Mission and one 300 bonus for medium frame. You can use the 300% for get the early engine but at the cost of make heavy fighters. Or try to use the best you can the 100 bonus for small frames. I say yas for a video getting the supersonic frame as early possible. Is horrible expensive but is sooooo goooood. My record is having that thing at 1945 with usa but being quite passive
You should have done this playthrough with expert ai so that germany made proper planes and we really could see if its worth it
trucks doing naval landing is funny
I recall back in the day there was a Germany meta using light tanks on super speed and you could get them to 18 or 19 km/h. You would basically overrun everyone. They weren’t too powerful though so the challenge was breaking the enemy initially. I think this was nerfed but it was fun while it lasted.
Not realy, i do it with max speed mech III 15.5 kmh + all the modifiers.
10% doctrine division
10% doctrine mot/mech
10% army manouver
10% trickster trait
10% other source like recon company ect. Traits.
Thats more then 23 kmh.
In combat speed is 7,6 kmh
With blitz 11,5 kmh
I come to see jet planes but JET TRUCKS .
STONKS
quick question: how do you get the bonus percentages shown in the construction tab?
How did you get the numbers to show up in the construction tab? That's quite useful :o
which mod shows a bonus to the construction of certain buildings
Most countries don't even have MIOs you can use for the modern jets, so I feel like using the lower-level fighters is better. It's a shame.
Make them CAS. Put rocket rails in first slot and rest for a fighter. Then you can use all small airframe MIOs on them.
@emirpoljarevic7024 Thanks. Although that will make giving them orders a pain.

Jets before the latest DLC:
Meh - their range is garbage, you won't have them until mid 1944 due to technology cost scaling that punishes you heavily for attempting to research ahead of time. Hard locked behind developing rockets first, which itself has a tech penalty for researching before 1942. Which meant by the time you were producing them, you'll only get a dozen or so out before the game ends with allied victory, or if you're playing the Axis, you need to win the war against the allies by 1941, before the Soviets get any funny ideas and before Japan asks to join then promptly decides to declare on the USA, which means you're cooked. So, unless you planned to sit there for 3 years teching up before attacking the US - while it went down it's historic path meaning by the time you do attack they will stomp you anyway, you would instead station your armies in Canada then attack immediately at the end of 1941 then go for the soviets last. Meaning, you've won by 1942, so you beat the game before even researching rockets.
Now with the current DLC, you pretty much play Axis the same as you did before, except now you can get Radar, Mechanised Engineers, Helicopters and Flame Tanks early, which means you can win even faster now.
As the allies, well, you can get Jet Planes early as the UK and meme I guess.
Also, new jets don't suck, they actually have range now.
What about the air Defense though won’t the jets get shot down cause of how low it is?
We got isp theme music in feedbackgaming before gta 6
So you can make supersonic CAS, but they still get shot down by divisional AA which feels... strange. Surely faster CAS would be harder to shoot down?
take a look at germany's f104 training crash rate after they decided to shoehorn a supersonic interceptor into a close air support platform
Speed do not affect losses from ground aa, only air defense. Strat bombing losses is affected by air defense iirc.

I don't even know how to play Britain lol, there's just too much empire to keep track of from the start for me, however after spending my first 400 hours learning the game playing primarily the US and Germany and a smidge of Italian super colonization I do really want to learn the UK and Japan.
edit: this video actually highlights my biggest issue with this DLC, even though you rushed the tech about as fast as possible by the time you could even start producing an airframe that gave you the full benefits of the jet engines, there's really nothing left to use them against lol.
I've unlocked nuclear missiles twice and I've never been able to use them a single time, although I did do the standard US allied thing but on the second attempt I specifically set out to extend WWII and let the AI hurt itself as much as possible which did let me nuke Germany and Japan but, even with that, I still could not get the tech I was most interested in & I have since suspected it's much the same with some of the other fancy special projects. I wonder if how paradox will end up tweaking a lot of the research boosts from focuses 'cause I think that would help a lot with making a lot of this stuff actually feasible to attain late game.
