I went up there by the train ride from the town of Williams. Fun ride, we were attacked by desperados, literally racing their horses next to the train and stopping it. They boarded, pulled out instruments and passed the hat around as they sang. The canyon itself it totally jaw dropping.. it’s 21 km of view across the other side
The south rim of the Canyon, where this couple was, is just over four hours from Las Vegas. If you arrive at sunrise or near sunset, the crowds either haven't arrived or have left for the day. Watching the colors change as the sun rises and sets is breath taking. We got incredible photos during both. We visited for three days.
I don't understand why you would go to the crowded South Rim Lodge as a tourist. The North Rim is much nicer and only a little over 2 hours from Vegas.
@@0529mpb Google maps list the north rim as 4.5 hours from Vegas. Also he said he was going to Vegas in April. The North rim doesn't usually open, after the winter months, till the first or second week of May. Sometimes a bit later.

I grew up in the western US and hadn't seen the Grand Canyon until about six years ago (in my 40's now). I always was like, whatever, it is a big hole in the ground, who cares... It is absolutely amazing and an emotional experience like you mentioned. Pictures and Videos cannot do it justice, it is an amazing thing to see and I highly recommend it. This is coming from someone who never cared until I was there.
I've never met any first-time visitor that isn't blown away. For at least 70 years, American school kids grow up with movies and TV shows showing the Grand Canyon. IT IS MORE AWESOME than any TV screen or photo can depict.
It is completely impossible for any 2d medium to convey the reality. I saw photos and videos like everyone else does. When I got there, I fell to my knees.
sunrise and sunset light the striations of the canyon walls differently every few minutes, it's as if it's alive, your mind just can't grasp it, it's so beautiful
Been to the Grand Canyon 3 times. One in winter, once in spring and once in autumn. It looked different each time, but i cried all 3 times. The majesty of that spot is just so awe inspiring.
No, there's not just bedrock at the bottom, plenty of wildlife. There is actually a village called Supai, Arizona at the bottom, you can only get there by foot or helicopter. It's the only place in the US where the mail gets delivered by mule.
Look, some people don't like it because all they see is a big hole in the ground. They don't see any "wild life", it's everywhere. Also, the canyon is like 270 miles long and miles and miles wide in some places.
The Grand Canyon Skywalk is only about 2 hours from Vegas. The North Rim Lodge is about 2 hours and 15 minutes from Vegas. April is tough for the North Rim Lodge because the road is usually snowed in and closed. They plow the roads on the South Rim, so it is open all year long. The Canyon is really long, 400 km. There are viewpoints and trailheads all along the North and South rims.
You should research the size comparison between the UK and the Grand Canyon... Lots of people can't understand how large the USA is.... EVERY type of climate- from Arctic to Desert, rain forest or swamp or mountains or plains- all in one country
@@sjldfilms5126 what a beautiful way to put it. I think diversity and the melting pot that is America brings me pride, knowing out of many we are all one.
You can ride mules to the bottom and spend the night and ride them back up in the morning. The Colorado river runs through the bottom and you can also go rafting
You need to visit the North rim of the Grand Canyon. It is only open from Mid May to Early October due to the fact that snow makes the road impassable. On a side note, my son and I did a 20 mile hike along the South rim trail of the Grand Canyon.
The Grand Canyon is estimated at be the size of the state of Rhode Island and it’s deepest point is 6000ft. I hope they visit Page, Williams, Flagstaff, Sedona, Bisbee, Tuscon and Thombstone all in AZ. There’s so many special places in AZ… all the 4 corner states! If you are ever coming to Georgia let me know! I can tell you some amazing places, especially if you love to hike and see waterfalls… we have around 700 in our state. Don’t come in the summer! I highly recommend the fall/Autumn. @moreadamcouser
We drove my daughter from California to New Jersey, where she is going to college. One of the stops was Grand Canyon, which was on her bucket list. It's beautiful and the colors I kept thinking how is this real. I walked the big tree trail at Sequoia last weekend and saw General Sherman for the first time. We are doing our third cross-country trip using Route 66 from California to Chicago. I'd rather drive because we, or at least I forget, just how beautiful this country is.
I got the opportunity when I was younger to hike down into it. 7 miles down there is a Havasupai (Native American) village, and another 3 miles there is the camp grounds. From there were 4 waterfalls, I only saw two, because I was too scared to go to the other two. It was beautiful and I had so much fun down there.
You need to see it up close!! It’s an experience!! It’s the lighting and the sky working together.. amazing! Colors change constantly and it’s spectacular!
If you’re in Vegas you can easily go to the Grand Canyon. They even have helicopter tours that take off from Vegas. I’ve been as a kid/teen and adult and it never gets old seeing it. You could also check out the Hoover Dam that’s right there and Area 51 😂 if you want. Tons to do in and around Vegas. When your in Vegas go to Bazaar Meat by Jose Andres. Amazing food. I got tons of places in Vegas for food if you want a list.
My grandparents live in Peoria, AZ during the winter, and my dad and I occasionally fly out there for spring break. We drove to a small town (and I mean smaaaallll town) called Williams, where visitors catch the train to the Grand Canyon. We did a bus tour where we only got about 5-10 minutes for each location. Not the most extensive visit, but it is absolutely gorgeous. It is deceivingly freezing since you're at a high elevation; it even snowed for a minute while we were there.
Dude you ended the video before the part where they went to the Horseshoe Bend overlook which shows the Colorado River at the bottom of the canyon, which is around 1 mile (1.6 kilometers) deep. ✌️
The length of a hike to the bottom of the Grand Canyon depends on the trail you take and the rim you start from: South Rim The South Kaibab Trail is 6.8 miles to Bright Angel Campground, and the Bright Angel Trail is 9.3 miles. Most hikers take 4-5 hours to reach the campground on either trail. The hike down to the river from the South Rim can take about 5 hours, and the hike back up can take about 15 hours. Trails from the South Rim are usually shorter, steeper, and more crowded than trails from the North Rim. North Rim The North Kaibab Trail descends 14.3 miles and 6,000 feet to the river. The descent can take closer to 8 hours, and the hike back up can take 20+ hours depending on fitness. Trails from the North Rim are longer, more circuitous, and less maintained than trails from the South Rim.
The Grand Canyon looks amazing in photos and videos but it doesn't even scratch the surface in how overwhelmingly beautiful it is. I took a tour from las vegas and it included taking a 12 seat plane down inside of the canyon. This tour also included the Mohave Dessert and the Hoover Dam. On another trip to Vegas I went to Bryce National Park and into Utah. Even within Las Vegas is another beautiful place called Red Rock Canyon. It is literally very close to The Strip in Vegas. My job was so amazing as I traveled a lot in and out of the US. I always tried to stay in my location to see the place and learn about the local culture. I loved every minute of it.
I live at the Grand Canyon Natl Park. The Walmart they stopped at is in Flagstaff (the corner of the solar panel in the video) is an 1.5 hours to the park. You can drive and park at the Canyon. Only one trailhead doesn't allow for public parking (the trail they went to which offers the best views for the shortest hiking). That trail goes all the way to the river. It is slammed through the spring and summer and still busy through the rest of the year.
For stores, I recommend Bass Pro Shop It's 9 hours to drive from Los Angeles to Grand Canyon. When my mom's pen pal from Accrington, Lancashire visited the US the first time, she was impressed with our straight roads and said, "The Romans must have been here." Hikes from the rim down to the deepest point & back could take about 12 hours down and up when you're taking pictures and resting. You can also do burro rides, guided tours down there. There's an Indian Reservation in one section of the canyon with one hotel....no motor cars or even a place to drive on in and out. Daily mail service from a letter carrier who rides a burro down and back from Monday to Friday.
Several years back, took Mom to Vegas. We took a shuttle bus, then hopped on a 6-seater airplane (which we SWEAR was piloted by "Doogie Houser"). We landed near a plateau and had dinner on the rocks provided by the Hopi Indians right on a rocky outledge. I'll never forget it.
Live a couple hours from the Grand Canyon. I prefer the North rim, to the south rim. The north rim is over 8,000 feet elevation, and has beautiful forests of Aspen, Ponerosa pine, Blue spruce, Englemann Spruce, Douglas fir, etc.. no shuttles at the more sparsely visited North Rim. Parking is easy...no crowds...there is even a bison herd on the north rim.
It's so deep that in the northern end of the Canyon, it snows up due to wind currents. The gusts are so strong in the gorge that the snow can't fall and gets lifted up.
I live about 3.5 hours from the Grand Canyon. When visitors come, they want to see it. There are a number of ways to see it, but tours is a good recommendation because you do not deal with the parking issues, particularly during peak season (summertime). There is even a tour which takes you on a train being pulled by an old fashioned steam locomotive which will "take you back" to the early West days. Once at the Canyon, you will have a bus/coach tour without worrying about parking. You can have lunch included in the same package. Hiking in the desert is diffierent. MAKE SURE YOU TAKE ENOUGH WATER, and stay on the trail!!! Every year we hear of visitors who fall from after crossing the railing on the trail, or they do not take enough water and die of dehydration. It is VERY dry here in Arizona. Here in Phoenix during late Spring and early Summer, we get humdity in the single digits. That is really dry. There are other things to see while in the general vicinity, such as Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon. My sister--in-law thought Oak Creek Canyon was more beautiful than the Grand Canyon.
The Colorado River was once a HUGE raging river to carve the river bed that makes up the Grand Canyon like that. Have been. It's lovely. It's also so big it can be seen from space. Great deal on that National Parks visitor's pass card. I now live near Yosemite in California. It is about a 1.5 hour drive mainly because it gets to those windy Sierra Nevada roadways about halfway there.
The couple in this video only went down 10percent of the way. When i visited in May, the rim had snow, we started at 6am, took us until 3 to dip our feet in the colorado river, and climbed back to the rim by 11pm. We were so entranced with the color changes and the sun light and moon light playing against the canyon walls. So beautiful.
I used to live in Flagstaff and took geology classes where we would go to the Grand Canyon for class, it was awesome but got kinda routine after a while. watching storms as they moved across the Canyon is still one of my favorite things to do. we used to go camping on the North Rim all the time when wev lived in Vegas, went to bed one night and woke up to 7 inches of snow the next morning, crazy. while the Grand Canyon is amazing IMO nothing beats Havasupai Falls
The Colorado River runs through the bottom of the Canyon as is flows through to the Gulf of California off of Baja and was very instrumental is forming the Canyon (along with wind, precipitation, and other natural elements).
Just seeing your reaction and the other couple made me cry lol. This is why it’s called Gods Country!!! I’m surprised when people in Europe put us down because we don’t visit Europe. But why? When we have so much to see and do here.
I went there in 2003, and it was breathtaking. I recomend everyone see it in person at least once. Also havasupai falls looks super cool, its a native american reservation at the bottom of the canyon you can stay at. epic
I could be wrong as I haven't been to Orlando Florida in about 20 years, and things may have changed since then, but I had a blast going to Medieval Times, so I'd recommend checking that out, assuming they're still around. If it's anything like it was back in the day, you go there to eat in a big stadium while watching things like jousting matches and sword fights. Pretty cool, or at least it was when I went. Most of my time was spent at whatever Disney park was there, though, so I don't know of many other places to visit or things to do (especially since, like all things Disney, the parks have really gone down hill over the years).
I went to the Grand Canyon in 1991, while doing an epic road trip from NY to California and back. Nothing can prepare you for it. No photo, no video, they are only in 2d. When you see it in 3d, it's overwhelming.
I grew up in Arizona from 12 years old to 24 , I’ve been to the Grand Canyon several times but my favorite is in the winter because less people visit and it’s beautiful in the snow but even more beautiful is Sedona’s red rock country and of course Antelope canyon.
I have seen it first hand. It looks like a giant painting that fills all you can see from one side of the horizon to the other, but it is real. No art work could recreate this wonder. God is wonderful.
I lived right by the Grand Canyon and went many times growing up. I'd run into tourists up there and many were actually disappointed because they expected the canyon to be larger.
I live in southern Arizona (the Grand Canyon state). I love where I live, it's always amazing. I do "pine" for grass and trees sometimes... but not enough to leave! The Grand Canyon is almost indescribable, videos and photos just don't do it justice. If you'll be in Vegas you'll only be about a 4 hours drive away from the Grand Canyon, just sayin'. At the bottom of the canyon is the Colorado River. When you go to Vegas, keep in mind when your there the need to drink a LOT of water. The dry climate will sneak up on you SO fast, you don't even realize it until it's a problem. Certainly if you do any hiking in the Vegas area or surrounding desert, bring way more water than you think you'll need. It's surprisingly common to have tourists unfamiliar with the arid climate need to be rescued because of dehydration.
I went to the grand canyon back in 2000 and it was one of the most breathtaking things I've ever witnessed. Nothing in a video or picture can prepare you for how utterly big it is. You're going to love it. For the Vegas trip, might I suggest flying into Phoenix and then driving to Vegas? The Grand Canyon is on the way as is Hoover Dam which is also pretty cool. For Orlando, there is a place called Gatorland Zoo that is just as the name suggests a zoo for alligators - over 2000 of them! You might find that interesting since you've been watching some American animal videos and gators are frequently listed. It's pretty incredible to see so many of them in person!
I love having you back Adam as you were one of the original reactors I started following back in the original Dimash days. The Colorado River is at the bottom of the Grand Canyon BTW and it is great for white water rafting. The River is what formed the Grand Canyon after thousands of years of erosion 👍
Me and my husband were tourist from the Northwest, close the New England. We took a helicopter from Vegas to the G.C. ..It landed on a plateau that rimmed the canyon and we brought out the wine and cheese to have lunch w/a British couple right there! It seemed magical to be in comfort in such a beautiful but harsh looking place. The United States is so incredibly geologically diverse We have it all!
I've been to the Grand Canyon a couple of times and it really lives up to the name. There is a river that runs at the bottom, but to hike down that far takes a few hours for most People... I personally would recommend renting a Mule, but that's just me. Not many people know this, but deep down in the Canyon, a tribe of Indians makes it their home. They hunt and gather for most of their food to this day, as it takes so long (even by boat) to get supplies from the outside world. If you ever travel to see it, I would suggest renting a cabin or room at one of the lodges and taking a few days to really soak it all in.
The bottom of the Grand Canyon is full of life. The Colorado River carved this over millions of years. And where there's water there's life. It's an absolute must to take a trip to the river and go rafting. If not rafting then hiking. Looking from the top is amazing but going to the bottom is the experience of a lifetime. I highly recommend it if you have the time. Day tripping is a look from the top and shorter hikes around the rims. It's vast. It's beautiful. And the United States has so much more to see than just the Canyon. You will be awestruck with every National Park you can fit in your trip. Howdy y'all from the Great Lone Star State of Texas 🤠🇺🇸
Had the opportunity to do a rim-to-rim 3 day backpacking trip in 2010. Started in the snow on the north rim in mid-May---the north rim had just opened for the year. At the campground on PHantom Creek at the bottom it was over 80 degrees in the middle of the night. If one goes during the off season (at least 7 years ago) one can actually drive their own car out to the overlooks along the south rim. The hike on South Kaibab has a 3 mile round trip to Cedar Ridge, with a stop along the way at Ooh Ahh Point--name for people’s reaction when they see the view from there
At the bottom of the canyon is the Colorado River, which carved the canyon over millions of years. In some locations there are actually white sand beaches with turquoise water. There are also white water rapids.
I've lived in Arizona for about 7 years and have yet to see the Grand Canyon. I will say, though, my roommate who is born and raised in Arizona took me on a scenic drive once and it was cool watching the land go from desert to plains to mountains/forest. There may be a lot of things I despise about my country, but the land itself is so beautiful and diverse.
Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon is 130 miles. At the bottom is the Colorado River. I’m 76 and first saw the Grand Canyon at sunrise when I was 15 (1963). I now live in beautiful Colorado close to Rocky Mountain National Park.
When you go to Vegas, there is a Native American reservation only a couple hours away where you can visit to see the Grand Canyon. You can rent a car in Vegas to get there. It’s a really nice day trip!
I hope you get to see all of these places someday. If you are going to Vegas you aren't very far away from the Grand Canyon. Also just to get out of the city and into the desert around Vegas is so special. If you have time to travel across the border into California, Kings Canyon is spectacular with Giant Sequoias.
Except for the first week of the month (spring break), April is a pretty good time to visit the Grand Canyon--less crowded. For future trips, I'd also suggest you put Crater Lake, Oregon and a drive to the summit of Mauna Kea on the big island of Hawaii on your bucket list of other-worldly American scenic destinations.
Also, when you go to Daytona, there is a tour that you could take of the entire facility for $35. They put you on a trolley they take you down on the Enfield inside the track where all the shops are and plus you could also take a tour of the museum. That is called the NASCAR Hall of Fame Museum. And it is awesome!!!
Went yesterday for the first time, I now understand truly what the word Majestic means!!! A monsoon rolled through, lightning, it’s crazy, it made me emotional too bud!!! Th view from the Watchtower!!! Walked the south Rim, knees got shakey when the railing went away, I’m terrified of heights, but it’s sooo worth working thru the fear!!!!
For starters, visit places you've always wanted to visit first and then viewers recommendations. Mine would be universal studios, snorkeling, aquariums, get a fat ass steak medium rare🥩, Disney land, and boat tours
The Grand Canyon is 277 miles long; 18 miles at it's widest; and 4,000 feet deep or 1219.2 meters. You should got to Pinball Hall of Fame, Lake Mead, Grand Canyon, Hoover dam, Sky walk over The Grand Canyon, and the Mob museum,
Fun Fact: Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee and North Carolina(it's big) is free by law due to an agreement made when the park was established. A great book is The Man Who Walked Through Time about making the first backpacking trip the length of the canyon INSIDE it. In Vegas I recommend the Penn and Teller show, for sure the Blue Man Group show, and if you like The Beatles even a little bit,Love.
It's crazy to be standing on the edge of the canyon and see tiny microscopic specks in lower parts of the canyon that you can tell are people. The scale is truly hard to comprehend even when you're standing right in front of it. I highly recommend it. From an Arizona native, if you are thinking of hiking down inside the canyon be aware that it gets very hot inside the canyon. People think because it's in northern Arizona it will be cool, but it can get up to 100 degrees down there. People who aren't acclimated to the heat are vulnerable to making silly decisions because they just lack the knowledge that's common to us. Listen to the park rangers, they are trying to avoid having to get your body hoisted out of there later.
Yes! The Grand Canyon is beautiful. Did a helicopter tour through it and then a boat ride on the Colorado river. For me it was a once in a lifetime experience. Just beautiful!!
As someone that recently went to the grand canyon. You don't understand the scale until you are really there. I remember seeing it in the distance and not comprehening what i was looking at because it was so huge. Also its like a 2-3 hour drive from Vegas
Dude, there’s an incredible river (Colorado River) that runs through the bottom of the Grand Canyon. In fact it is water erosion over millennia that has created the Grand Canyon. Hope you get there one day. It’s possible to visit from Las Vegas if you are keen.
I definitely recommend a visit to the Grand Canyon in Arizona and Las Vegas, Nevada. I would highly recommend adding Utah to your itinerary as they are in the same region. If you love nature and unimaginable sights these are states to visit. So much to see and do especially if you enjoy the outdoors. You will go home with a treasure trove of magnificent photos/videos and memories to last a lifetime. There is so much more to see in these three states. Rent a car, the states are right next to each other!!

April is tough for the North Rim Lodge because the road is usually snowed in and closed. They plow the roads on the South Rim, so it is open all year long. The Canyon is really long, 400 km. There are viewpoints and trailheads all along the North and South rims.
The canyon looks even better in snow.
You should research the size comparison between the UK and the Grand Canyon... Lots of people can't understand how large the USA is.... EVERY type of climate- from Arctic to Desert, rain forest or swamp or mountains or plains- all in one country
We truly do live in an incredible place. So diverse in land and people.
@@sjldfilms5126 what a beautiful way to put it. I think diversity and the melting pot that is America brings me pride, knowing out of many we are all one.
@@jj-bv3ui I concur, our diversity is our strength
You have absolutely got to watch videos on the bottom of the Grand Canyon... Amazing waterfalls trails
The Grand Canyon is 250 miles or 4 hours drive from Las Vegas.
You must go!
Grand Canyon is so absolutely gorgeous. It’s real eye candy and pictures and video definitely don’t do it justice.
The length of a hike to the bottom of the Grand Canyon depends on the trail you take and the rim you start from:
South Rim
The South Kaibab Trail is 6.8 miles to Bright Angel Campground, and the Bright Angel Trail is 9.3 miles. Most hikers take 4-5 hours to reach the campground on either trail. The hike down to the river from the South Rim can take about 5 hours, and the hike back up can take about 15 hours. Trails from the South Rim are usually shorter, steeper, and more crowded than trails from the North Rim.
North Rim
The North Kaibab Trail descends 14.3 miles and 6,000 feet to the river.
I live two hours from the Grand Canyon and I visit twice a year. I am impressed every time I go, is absolutely beautiful. You wouldn’t believe it.
Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls (viewed from Canada), and the Vegas Strip (viewed from 50th floor of the Rio) are all breathtaking.
BREATHTAKING!
It really is overwhelming. You have to see it while you're in Vegas
If you come to Arizona and go to the Grand Canyon you should book one of the helicopter rides. It’s amazing!
No video or picture prepares you for the unbelievable scale of the Grand Canyon in person. It's absolutely breathtaking...almost literally.
Grand Canyon when you go to Vegas, and some Utah parks. It's cliché, but Angel's Landing really is just breathtaking. And you earn the view.
And you'll want to see some of New Mexico as well. Maybe not on your trip this year, but it's worth a week to see it.
When I fly over the Grand Canyon often in my travels. It's even more awesome from the air!!
My brother moved to Arizona, so when I went to visit him we went to the Grand Canyon. It is spectacular
Grand canyon was formed in a prior ice age from glaciers moving across the countryside and also rivers and stream erosion from the glaciers melting
The Grand Canyon is very beautiful. I hiked from the south rim all the way down and across to the Colorado River. Great video.
But why? When we have so much to see and do here.
hunny, bajillions of Americans visit Europe every year
@@Marcel_AudubonYeah but that still is only a small portion of America.
"Our roads are literally from the1400s". I literally did lol at that.
I went to the Grand Canyon in 1991, while doing an epic road trip from NY to California and back. Nothing can prepare you for it. No photo, no video, they are only in 2d. When you see it in 3d, it's overwhelming.
I have visited the Grand twice and flown over it a dozen times. It really is spectacular.
Exactly, it looks like a painting as far as your eyes can see. It almost looked fake, that's how good it looked if that makes sense lol.
I lived right by the Grand Canyon and went many times growing up. I'd run into tourists up there and many were actually disappointed because they expected the canyon to be larger.
Pictures and videos don't do it justice. It's spectacular in person.
When you go to Vegas you will only be a couple of hours away from the Grand Canyon. Well worth the visit!
Grand Canyon is awesome ! and cant be captured on a photograph..... just awesome only been there twice.
There are also white water rapids.
backpacked inside the grand canyon to Havasu and camped there for 4 nights. one of the best hikes ever
I’ve been to the Grand Canyon 5-6 times. I was even lucky enough to raft the Colorado River for 6 days back in 1991.
The Grand Canyon is only like 4 hours from Las Vegas. So if you leave early enough in the morning you could make it a day trip 😊
It’s only 2 hours from Vegas. West rim skywalk.
When we walked up to the edge if the canyon I was srunned, people were almost whispering. Its like looking into another world.
Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon is 130 miles. At the bottom is the Colorado River.
I’m 76 and first saw the Grand Canyon at sunrise when I was 15 (1963). I now live in beautiful Colorado close to Rocky Mountain National Park.
I was 8 in '72 when I visited. It's still a vivid memory all these years later.
I live about 100 miles from the Grand Canyon. I’ve been there multiple times to the south rim and twice to the north rim.
While in Orlando you should go to the natural springs ! The water is usually around 72 degrees so a little chilly but so beautiful to see
Yes, that was fun, Adam. I have only been to the Grand Canyon once and it is spectacular. Thanks for your work. Peace
My parents did a white water rafting trip down the Colorado river through the Grand Canyon years ago. They loved it.
I love the grand canyon.
We went in March and at that time of year there aren't too many people. But in the space of an hour we had sun, rain, sleet, hail and snow. Fantastic!
It's only about a 4.5 - 5 hour drive from the Las Vegas strip to the north rim of the Grand canyon.
I can’t wait to visit one day! Just watching these videos makes me cry. I can’t imagine how I will feel when I see it for real!
