As long as everyone accepts that this is just fiction and not an authentic depiction of the real P.T. Barnum, it's an entertaining watch. The musical moments are truly spectacular.
I don’t think they really gained anything by adding P.T. Barnum’s name to it, or by saying that it’s ‘based on a true story’ personally I would’ve enjoyed it more if Hugh’s character was entirely original.
@@chucknorris8704 Some people can and do read. A very close friend of our family served with Mr. Barnum in the Connecticut state legislature where he served 2 terms. Others knew him from his time as the Mayor of Bridgeport Connecticut. It is also well know that Barnum was in his 60s before getting into the circus business. Anyone that appreciates opera knows Jenny Lind.
The only character who did not do their own singing was Rebecca Ferguson (Jenny Lynn) although she can sing she didn't feel comfortable so this other singer, Loren Allred) sings the song (Loren doesn't like the spotlight, she'd rather be behind the scenes) So Loren shows up on Britain's Got Talent and tells the story and the judges were in awe. Also the songs were all written by two college friends, who were like 22 at the time. 🎉
Philip Carlisle is based on bailey, the studio couldn't get the use of bailey's name so they just renamed him in the movie, o and the bartender in the scene with barnum and Carlisle choreographed that scene, that's y it was so smooth

Just so you guys know, P.T. Barnum in real life was nothing like this! He treated his circus performers terribly! Great movie tho, the music is amazing!

@@StormAkima0 hi I think it was just because the audio was treaked because of copyrights. Have you all seen The Proteje (2021) its a action movie I think you all, would like it. Samuel L Jackson, Maggie Q, Michael Keaton. The movie is better then the trailer. Its by the same director or producer of the Casino Royal movie with Daniel Craig in it. I saw this movie twice in the cinemas. It's so good!! You just have to take it as purely fiction and not compare it to the story it's based on.
i wish i had, for some reason i thought it was a horror movie, because i heard Hugh Jackman was a magician in a horror movie lol. worst mixup ever.

Think of it not as an accurate biopic about PT Barnum, but more like the biopic Barnum WOULD make about himself.
