Mid-September, about four months after the post-flower pruning. The overgrown buds were growing, so I did some fall pruning.
The tree had not yet formed a branch shelf, so I set the branch center and made the first branches.
Now that we have the foundation for the shelf, we will gradually build up the volume of the shelf over the years.

I worked on one more tree.
This is a tree that I replanted in the spring to exhibit in the December exhibition.
The base of the branch was already made when we pruned in spring.
I used a wire to make a shelf for the branches while keeping the volume.
The replanting process is described in the June issue of "Satsuki Kenkyu 2021".

Is the method the same for evergreen varieties??
Thanks for the comment. It depends on the tree species, but evergreen varieties such as black pine and five-leaf pine do not budge well, so it is best not to cut too many branches. Satsuki trees produce a lot of buds, so you can prune them boldly.

今年の 異常な 暑さで さつき盆栽が 弱ってしまって花芽は 付いていますけど 植え替えも3月に行い 来年花休みたいのですが 秋の剪定して 大丈夫でしょうか? 良いアドバイス宜しくお願いします🙇⤵️
こんにちは。どんな風に弱ってしまったのか、現物を見ないと分かりませんが、芽が伸びていないのであれば、秋の手入れはしなくても良いと思います。来年花を休むのであれば、花芽だけ指でつまんで取り除いておくと良いでしょう。
展示会は誰でも出せるんですか？
