(речь не о вокале и выбранном стиле - обе девочки, бесспорно, талантливы). А вот, в плане воплощенной на сцене эмоции/мысли они совершенно разные: на исполнение Диана напрашивается, чуть перефразированная, латинская поговорка ("Veni, vidi, vici"/Пришел, увидел, победил) - Пришел, увидел, УБЕдил! Она спела, как говорится, наотмашь, не оставив ни тени сомнения, ни вариантов для возражения и т.п.
Well, if the aim is to compare the two I think (having listened a lot to both) there is no better song to choose. The fact is, it illustrates very well just how different they are in the style of their performance. Diana is very expressive in her face and body. Angelina is so, so relaxed. Diana's interpretation is wild, Angelina's is more traditional. Both performances show off their exceptional vocals and arrangements. Both find it easy to make the song their own. Having said all that, they have moved on (as you would expect during the early teen years) and I think they are not quite so different nowadays. It is fair to compare the styles, but like you Danny I feel no need to rate them one against the other: they are simply two of the worlds best singers.
Angelina has resumed publishing originals and they are all very much Jazz. Has Diana switched to Jazz lately or why would you say "they are not quite so different nowadays? They are both technically advanced singers with a wide range, but their style and sound is very different. Since Diana is singing a lot of her songs in russian I think they are also targeting very different markets.

Thank you for posting this reaction to both girls ! Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and I respect that ! These are two of my favourite young singers in the world ! They both have very different and unique styles that's compliment their backgrounds and upbringing ! Diana is so accomplished with her marvellous stage presence and delivery ! She has such soul and depth in her voice that is captivating and powerful ! Angelina's voice having her strong jazz background takes us on another journey ! She gives each song her unique stamp of originality through her voice and composition ! She grabs your attention from start to finish as does Diana ! But in honesty they are truly blessed with a desire to sing and perform ! These girls are not the Pop tarts that are being produced for the commercial market but are true artists that I hope the while world gets to really enjoy in the coming years ! The most important thing they both have is they are compassionate , wonderful , down to earth, loving people who have captured our hearts and will continue to do so ! Sorry, I don't want to hear Diana's voice alone, nor do I want to hear a duet. I know Diana has a lot of fans, especially in the Russian room, but I just don't like this one. And I don't mean that disrespectful, that's just my opinion.
Love them both, but that duet would be the weirdest in history. Their performance styles are direct opposites. AJ is subtle and controlled; DA is in your face histrionics. Good histrionics, like Dimash -- don't get me wrong -- but it's hard to think about DA at this point without strobe lights. Comparing AJ to her is like comparing South Pacific to Phantom of the Opera.

I think for the competition, Diana, this was her breakout song. Away from her dark folk mystical songs and style. Which is amazing and truly captivating. Angelina can sing what she wants and I’ll listen. There’s something inescapable about her voice. Someone posted a remix of a couple lines of Angelina over and over for ten minutes and it coulda been twenty easily.

А у Дианы сейчас проблема что нет педагога по вокалу , такого же профессионального и искренно влюблённого в талант ученика как была Донская. Ужасная потеря конечно. А заниматься с педагогом надо, это делают даже очень взрослые и опытные вокалисты а уж растущему артисту тем более необходимо. Слышали " Счастье" ? my heart will always go for AJ because she is emotionnal (she don't try to be emotionnal she is) and she makes me cry with so much covers (like more than 100) and original songs (4) and i'am never get bored with hers soothing voice but Diana is very good we can't deny this, i like what she is doing with hers unique voice ! AJ is like sweet ice cream with subtle scents that makes you feel mentally better, emotionally speaking. Diana is like an ice cream with strong and pronounced flavors of a rainbow that makes you travel! Listening to one or the other all depends on what you need!

Music is a art form and all art is a matter of personal preference. Listen to the artists who you enjoy and be respectful to the artists others prefer. That said, when it comes to natural talent displayed at an early age, Angelina is in a league of her own. There is no one to compare her to.

Я бы изменил порядок просмотра. Для меня Анжелина спела не плохо, но как бы это сказать, это был обычный певец, да профи, но не более. Скажем штатный певец в каком нибудь дорогом, может быть даже фешенебельном ресторане. И если потом поставить Диану. Нуууууу, ребата, на сцену просто вышла мега звезда, мирового уровня, у которой может быть (как и есть у многих таких звезд) не идеальный голос или еще чего то там. Но это с лихвой компенсируется той ошеломляющей харизмой, умением увлечь, передать эмоции, с таким напором, что зритель не в силах остаться безучастным или отвлечься от сего действа. Знаете, есть такая шутка, что сексом следует заниматься так, что бы потом соседи то же после этого выходили с тобой на балкон покурить и освежиться. Так вот Диана ТАК ПОЕТ.

First time hearing Diana singing this song and was quite amazing. I've listened to both artists who are both extraordinary incredible and adorable . IMHO AJ has huge versatalities and the way she has covered all these legends in music is really mind blowing, I cannot figure it out. We all know that they don't have the popularity of Taylor Swift who is not my cup of tea but hope when both get to the very top stay pure & healthy keeping their authenticity and let people enjoy their talents. We rarely gets global artists and talents like these two. Comparison is not an issue for me when listening to these artists. Thank you for putting both in the display.
The way I view these performances - Diana comes across as "let me show you how good I am with a flashy performance" and Angelina comes across as "this is how I sing, I hope you enjoy it and it touches you".

It is interesting to see these two performances side by side. Their personalities are so very different but both are incredibly talented. I see Diana has a more developed and stronger personality, at least partially due being older. She seems focused on performance and entertaining - very willing to radically change source material to meet these goals. She has participated in many competitions. You have to be impressed with her passion and eye contact. Angelina is more nuanced and while she is very creative, she always pays homage to the source material and her musical roots (eg. jazz). Her ability is more innate and seems to emerge from her perhaps somewhat unconsciously (many recordings coming from a single take). This performance was a rare example (at the time) where she felt belting out the song was the right way to go. The contexts here are also very different - one driven by a controlled and deeply prepared competition format with a full production crew, the other an open air concert which I believe was attended by the prime minister of Norway but filmed with a hand held camera.
I like Diana and Angelina, they are my go to for listening to music. Diana is firework on stage - dramatic, where Angelina is subtle. Both sneak their way into my core and make me feel the emotions of the lyrics. Peace out from Norway
Wow. Interesting. I loved most of Diana's version. I did not care for her runs. But everything else i enjoyed. Never heard her before, so i'll be checking her out more. I wish Angelina's performance were under the same circumstances, as i think her version would have been different. But, she slayed the song. I didn't enjoy her orchestra. It was too blaring. Angelina is a natural jazz singer. She is very harmonious in this. This is her element. Diana is a born actress with a unique universal voice. Everyone chooses according to their taste. And someone likes both singers. :)

U can always make out her voice from any other female singers. I can't say the same about Angelina. And yes, Angelina is amaizing singer too and she has a such beatiful voice, but she is using just high register and Diana goes high and low and she changing it very fast, using different vocal mechanisms like air flow. Diana has very powerful and deep voice and she is Master of yodeling.

Utterly pointless to compare an outstanding jazz singer and a mystical folk singer. If they were performing on the same night however, I would buy tickets for Miss Ankudinova.
Diana doesn't get the styles of some of the songs. Like this song for instance. Angelina knows how to use real jazz and doesn't make something that is jazzy into theatrical which is what I have seen Diana do. I just love that Angelina respects the original inception of the song and pretty much keeps it there in the same genre which is respectful but can still make it her own. It is a talent to the details in the genres and how to change things but still respect the original and not reinvent it.
👉Angelina's voice is very interesting and extraordinary, but especially in her older recordings it only creates astonishment, not emotions. That is only slowly changing now that she is older. Diana is my favorite. It is always pure emotion and that from the first song on the song list. I also think the arranger of this song did a good job of tailoring the song to suit Diana's age.🌼🇩🇪
One thing I think is lost here........it is that had Angelina not taken the TH-cam by storm, singing this song and others like it, Diane probably would have never considered singing this. I have noticed, even on ads on TV, these songs being reborn. To me, nobody does them justice like Angelina. If for no other reason, she should get credit for that. But, in my opinion, she does it cleanly and perfectly.
For me, this demonstrates one of the things I like best about Angelina. She is there to sing for us. No drama, no exaggerated moves or vocals, no additions that distract from delivering the message of the lyrics. She sings rather than performs. I like Diana-how could you not? But Angelina fits my idea of a singer. I’m here for the voice and the interpretation of the lyrics, which Angelina does better than anyone I’ve ever listened to. She really does justice to the lyrics here and gives us soul in her own way-and it’s authentic and moving.
@@Zionsol777 I assume you don't like Dimash for the same reasons? If so, we are in agreement. But there are performances where no competition is involved where Diana just sings. Her renditions of Feeling Good and Deniere Danse (not the abbreviated version she sang on the You Are Super show) come to mind.
I've always loved this song and for me it's AJ's version without contest. Now I'm not saying that Diana didn't sing well, it's just that the style she chose doesn't suit Jazz in my opinion and it doesn't feel as "soulful" to me. There are some songs covered by Diana that I don't think that AJ would suit as much, she would do an excellent job of course because she's great but it wouldn't feel as good as Diana singing them.
The woman watching Diana is her adoptive mother. Her early years are a tragic story. Diana and Angelina are each so promising in their own genres. Diana is very expressive and Angelina is cool as a cucumber jazz.
I'm a fan of both Diana and Angeina, both are amazing, and still... Despite Angelina's beautiful, and sometimes endless, melismas, Diana's got more of the passion and energy required by this particular song. I really love Angelina's singing, but I can't listen to her for a long time, while listening to Diana is never too much.
For me the voice and presentation of Diana is spectacular and absolutely unique. But it is not a voice that can go with every song, for me. I like the songs where there are Balkan or oriental influences. And furthermore: she and the team around her want her to shine in a big showy way! Outgoing. Circus. This is in huge contrast with Angelina, who is much more introvert. She is best with melancholy and subtleness. I do like the song very much. I grew up with it and danced on it at school parties. I prefer Angelina, because in a way it's a tribute to James Brown, she makes it even more jazzy and she is still able to give her own emotional spin to it. Without any form of show! Just the voice "speaks"! I admire Diana, but Angelina moves me much more. I can listen to her over and over again! Matter of taste maybe!

Stor skillnad. Båda har fantastisk alt röst, fantastisk musikalitet......men .....Diana bara sjunger och gör bra skådespeleriet, för henne är det bara show ( som hon gjorde bra). För skillnad, Angelina har förmågan att leva låten och ge en djup mening till den som hon sjunger. Hennes låtvalet vissar det. Hon är jazz själen. Jag har aldrig sett att Angelina gör nånting annat på scenen än att sjunga.....från hjärta.

Hello, thanks for the reaction. As I have been a musician of all life, I would like to make a small contribution to the community regarding this video. Singers and instrumentalist musicians are simply a complement to the song: without a song the best singer in the world is nobody. The biggest songs the singer has, the better chance of success is going to have, it is easy the equation. Having base this reasoning we can compare artists, in this case Angelina and Diana. Diana is excellent in this type of dark songs, Diana is ideal for gray, melanchological, sad, painful songs, with dim light. In a day, it seems ideal to listen to a target song, but life needs lights and colors. Angelina In addition to being a musical composer, instrumentalist and musical arranger has the ability to cover all kinds of musical colors and textures from dark and clear textures. It seems strange to me that many reactors do not realize that Angelina is not a simple singer, she is a musical genius with the ability to understand any musical color that a composer could imagine at a song. Diana is fabulous in some songs until better than Angelina, for example in the Soccer, Ronaldo Nazario (the best 9 in the world) as 9 was the best but that does not make the biggest of all time Because Messi is considered the best Player of all time? And by the way. I don't really like jazz either. Just something specific and very selective. I would like to hear Angelina in a more classical singing style. With fewer jazz elements. I think I would have liked it better. These jazz runs make it difficult for me to fully enjoy her voice. There are too many of them. I understand that this is a feature of her singing, but... I find that Diana resonates more deeply, more emotionally with me than Angelina but that is a purely personal preference. Both of them are amazing singers and deserve all the praise they get.

I think that Diana and Angelina are global apex female vocalists. The main reason I prefer Diana is that her tone quality gives me goosebumps. I think Diana tends toward the operatic and Angelina tends towards jazz/r&b. Both of these girls are still developing their voices, and both are still improving and getting stronger. The main thing I take away from these two performances is that you better have a lot of confidence if you're gonna cover Etta James/James Brown. And both of these young superstars have a LOT of confidence. I think that the world will be a better place if both of these girls live long and prosper.

I noticed you punted on the comparison, which is probably smart if you don’t want to alienate either fan base, but there is a definite difference, and it is in artistry and listenability, and I could see by the bobbing of your head that you were able to connect more with Angelina’s performance over Diana’s, which is the difference between vocal gymnastics and using runs to string the song into a cohesive delivery. I will be honest, this is the first Diana performance I almost listed to the whole thing, she needs to work on her delivery, just like Dimash who I also cannot listen to, on the other hand Angelina has been able to deliver a song and make a connection with her musicians and the audience from the very beginning, that’s why when she obviously still had a child’s voice, we didn’t even care, and we still followed her through her development of her artistry. But that is the nature of art, two artist can sit on the bank of a river and paint the same landscape, both paintings will be totally different! And if they are good at their artistry, then it will affect people differently, but all who see them will be affected, or it isn’t art. I can listen to Angelina and appreciate her artistry, I cannot listen to Diana and Dimash, they may have great tools, but they fail to use them to create a masterpiece!

Not sure I can be completely fair here. Both are unbelievable singers with accomplishments that belie their ages. Still, in terms of vocal quality, I prefer AJ's quality in general; I find AJ more believable and less "put on" than Diana. In terms of performance, it seems to me that Diana is far more commercial in her production whereas AJ is just more personal. So, again, I find AJ's performances more to my (personal) liking. I am not looking forward to the day AJ becomes more commercial. This is just my personal preference and not a condemnation of Diana. In fairness, it may be that my background in performance colors my preferences. As a quick tattle on myself: when I was auditioning to be accepted into the classical guitar program at Loyola, I played the Bach Bourree from BWV 996 - everyone knows it - heck, even Jethro Tull played it (well, sort of LOL) ... and I'm here to tell ya - I played the livin' HELL out of that piece - I was on FIRE!! - I mean, I was all but dancing on the stool and was VERY expressive - and, yes, even with my facial expressions. ... When I finished playing, the head of the program offered his critique: "Well, as far as I can tell, the only thing you know about playing the guitar is that your thumb goes behind the neck." ... 8-| ... so, yeah, I was accepted into the program (somewhat unexpectedly btw heh heh) - but, admittedly, that critique permanently altered my perception and understanding of "performance." ... ... ... WOW, THIS was a lot longer response than I intended LOL

Ангелина талантливая девушка, но мне нравится ГОЛОС, ТЕМБР ГОЛОСА ДИАНЫ,который просто завораживает ЗРИТЕЛЕЙ. У ДИАНЫ бесподобный уникальный ВОКАЛ и ВЕЛИКОЛЕПНЫЙ АРТИСТИЗМ, чего у Ангелины нет.
Все-таки Анжелина много завывает. Это не песня, нет у нее мелодии в голосе, а жаль. Иногда слышно, что голос есть и приятный, но постоянная вибрация просто раздражает. Но все западники, которые сравнивают этих двух девочек, отдают предпочтение Джордан, и.к.они их певица. Но поет она бездушно. А Диана разрывает не только свою душу, но и наши. А голос какой. Такого второго нет.

It's hard to compare. 2 totally different styles. Also, one is high production value with light and firework and all that special effects, one is just outdoor concert. One is professionally video taped and awesome sound control. The other one is just recording by a fan's iPhone? But true, Diane has powerful voice, has great stage presence, is a great stage performer, very charismatic. absolutely true. Honestly though, her "manly" voice is a bit distracting for me. especially, at the very beginning. Something to get used to. Angelina's voice, on the hand, has more characters and sweetness to it. The natural rasp in her voice is quite pleasant to my ears. Anyway, I did enjoy Diana's performance. but if it were just sound only, and no visuals, I would enjoy Angelina's version more.
I would say, they are both young, developing, and already beyond amazing. Who one prefer is just a matter of taste. BTW, was in a sad mood when watching this. Just minutes before I received an email from Kongsberg Jazzfestival that AJs concert July 8 is moved to next year (6th to 9th July 2022), and my tickets will be transfered. I listen a lot to her concert at the festival in 2018, and hoped she would sing a.o It's a Mans World again this summer. Well, next year then..

I do think that they both have great voice but I don't think that this is the right song for Diana. The spirit of this is nearer to jazz and soul. Angelina is more in this genre and her version is more in the spirit of James Brown. Something like Only Human or Wicked Games is more in line with what fits Diana style. This is obviously my taste. They both have amazing voices but there forte are very different. They just don't have the same roots and influences.

I don't think that Diana really is tapped into Jazz .. Angelina totally understands the song and knows what jazz and rock really are. Diana reverts to theatrical performance which totally changes the dynamic of the song. When someone is doing a cover a jazz song should stay a jazz song. If somebody wants to make such big changes that it is no longer a jazz song, it is like taking something from someone and using it while just plain "messing around" with it to suit your convenience. It just doesn't seem right. If you have to change up a song that much....write your own.

Diana has no producer, no sponsor. All that she received from participating in the competition "you are super" is a video from the performances that made her famous but are the property of the NTV channel. I like AJ version a lot more. AJ lets her voice shine. Diana does all that body shaking that does nothing for the song itself. Diana has a powerful voice but I wouldn't listen to her version multiple times. I have already listen to AJ version many times.
AJ's style is more jazzy which is what I prefer. Diana is more theatrical which is the way that she has approached other songs that he has done that AJ has also done. AJ is more like a "torch singer" (torch singer to carry a torch for someone", or to keep aflame the light of an unrequited love "all that she needs is a stage, a light on her, a piano or guitar and maybe a stool and microphone to sing all night. Diana however is all "in" with the lighting, special effects, costuming.....I prefer the sublety of AJ's manor in the way that she approaches her music. She usually touches people emotionally, and not by "over singing." Very nice reaction...You make me laugh when you have a song to listen to and it's a song that you don't like! Especially when you end up listening to it twice. BTW A really great song of AJ's that I don't think that you listened to is "Born to Die". I think that might really like it.
I would love to see Diana Versioning Michael Jackson, Adele, Billy Holiday, Fitzgerald, Jhon Legend, Sam Smith, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Amy Winehouse. Diana in her tone of her voice is wonderful but she is a very small (dark) tone of voice that has very little ability to capture songs and composers of thousands of brightly colored textures. Respect for Diana fans and I admire Diana in her dark texture, Angelina is predestined to be the living legend of universal music in all her colors and possible forms

Thx Danny for your honest reaction again. I'm assuming that since DA gave you chills you liked her version a little bit better than AJ. One was a big production with a 14 almost 15 yo & the other was a 12 yo filmed at a outside concert with the band sound mic to loud & on a little home camera w/mic.(This drama has been going on for a while now & yet both girls respect each other & their craft.) Sometimes this gets as bad as the Hatfield & Mccoy's) When peeps started down playing Angie's abilities than I have to do some educating. (For DA is still awesome & I do like her in her genre) but when people compare Diana A. To Angie & they say that Angie has 1 octave or is to tall or has no talent, I remind them about this prodigy (& there are other prodigies out there too) AJ sings & talks in at least 5 languages & plays 5 instruments, composes, writes music, arranges & rearranges music, makes a lot of her own outfits, has published a book already & is considered a great painter etc etc. Has been acknowledged & is loved by the greats, such as Quincy Jones, David Foster, Mark Ronson etc etc etc. All before she was 12 & still doing that. She gives a lot to needy children & people. Has raised millions for those causes throughout the world. I mean this list can go on & on & on. But it comes down to who does a person like. I like both, but Angie's voice, timbre & emotes, for me (in clear English) I just like little better. I still like Diana, too for I love her tribal, & pop sounds, If I compared Laura Bretan to them both in her genres they both would lose badly, only Dimash can compete with her & she’s still 10 yrs younger than him, so that wouldn’t even be fair etc It's like comparing Whitney Houston to Mariah Carey or to Ella Fitzgerald or even Maria Callas etc.. They were excellent in their prime & genre’s & people liked each one for there own reasons better that the other. (Plus Angie's has a smaller fan base, but is very diverse in age, social economics & countries throughout the world & not just in the little country of Norway, Where DA has the huge country of Russia & Kazakhstan as well as other countries for support) Also they sing in different styles & genres. DA is also 3 yrs older, which some say doesn’t make that big of a difference, it does. Listing to Diana or Angie 3 yrs younger or older & you can hear it. So let see where they both are in 10 yrs if our planet makes that far. Remember Art is subjective, not objective. Some like apples some like oranges, but in the end they're both fruit so enjoyable.
Diana is Miles , heck universes better. There is no comparing a prop plane you have heard 1,000 times before to a subsonic electric powered space ship. You just may prefer a prop plane but in no logical way is it better. Preferences.

Она спела, как говорится, наотмашь, не оставив ни тени сомнения, ни вариантов для возражения и т.п.

Well, if the aim is to compare the two I think (having listened a lot to both) there is no better song to choose. The fact is, it illustrates very well just how different they are in the style of their performance. Diana is very expressive in her face and body. Angelina is so, so relaxed. Diana's interpretation is wild, Angelina's is more traditional. Both performances show off their exceptional vocals and arrangements. Both find it easy to make the song their own. Having said all that, they have moved on (as you would expect during the early teen years) and I think they are not quite so different nowadays. It is fair to compare the styles, but like you Danny I feel no need to rate them one against the other: they are simply two of the worlds best singers.
Angelina has resumed publishing originals and they are all very much Jazz. Has Diana switched to Jazz lately or why would you say "they are not quite so different nowadays? They are both technically advanced singers with a wide range, but their style and sound is very different. Since Diana is singing a lot of her songs in russian I think they are also targeting very different markets.

Thank you for posting this reaction to both girls ! Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and I respect that ! These are two of my favourite young singers in the world ! They both have very different and unique styles that's compliment their backgrounds and upbringing ! Diana is so accomplished with her marvellous stage presence and delivery ! She has such soul and depth in her voice that is captivating and powerful ! Angelina's voice having her strong jazz background takes us on another journey ! She gives each song her unique stamp of originality through her voice and composition ! She grabs your attention from start to finish as does Diana ! But in honesty they are truly blessed with a desire to sing and perform ! These girls are not the Pop tarts that are being produced for the commercial market but are true artists that I hope the while world gets to really enjoy in the coming years ! The most important thing they both have is they are compassionate , wonderful , down to earth, loving people who have captured our hearts and will continue to do so ! Sorry, I don't want to hear Diana's voice alone, nor do I want to hear a duet. I know Diana has a lot of fans, especially in the Russian room, but I just don't like this one. And I don't mean that disrespectful, that's just my opinion.
Love them both, but that duet would be the weirdest in history. Their performance styles are direct opposites. AJ is subtle and controlled; DA is in your face histrionics. Good histrionics, like Dimash -- don't get me wrong -- but it's hard to think about DA at this point without strobe lights. Comparing AJ to her is like comparing South Pacific to Phantom of the Opera.

I think for the competition, Diana, this was her breakout song. Away from her dark folk mystical songs and style. Which is amazing and truly captivating. Angelina can sing what she wants and I’ll listen. There’s something inescapable about her voice. Someone posted a remix of a couple lines of Angelina over and over for ten minutes and it coulda been twenty easily.

Я бы изменил порядок просмотра. Для меня Анжелина спела не плохо, но как бы это сказать, это был обычный певец, да профи, но не более. Скажем штатный певец в каком нибудь дорогом, может быть даже фешенебельном ресторане. И если потом поставить Диану. Нуууууу, ребата, на сцену просто вышла мега звезда, мирового уровня, у которой может быть (как и есть у многих таких звезд) не идеальный голос или еще чего то там. Но это с лихвой компенсируется той ошеломляющей харизмой, умением увлечь, передать эмоции, с таким напором, что зритель не в силах остаться безучастным или отвлечься от сего действа.

First time hearing Diana singing this song and was quite amazing. I've listened to both artists who are both extraordinary incredible and adorable . IMHO AJ has huge versatalities and the way she has covered all these legends in music is really mind blowing, I cannot figure it out. We all know that they don't have the popularity of Taylor Swift who is not my cup of tea but hope when both get to the very top stay pure & healthy keeping their authenticity and let people enjoy their talents. We rarely gets global artists and talents like these two. Comparison is not an issue for me when listening to these artists. Thank you for putting both in the display.

It is interesting to see these two performances side by side. Their personalities are so very different but both are incredibly talented. I see Diana has a more developed and stronger personality, at least partially due being older. She seems focused on performance and entertaining - very willing to radically change source material to meet these goals. She has participated in many competitions. You have to be impressed with her passion and eye contact.
Angelina is more nuanced and while she is very creative, she always pays homage to the source material and her musical roots (eg. jazz). Her ability is more innate and seems to emerge from her perhaps somewhat unconsciously (many recordings coming from a single take). This performance was a rare example (at the time) where she felt belting out the song was the right way to go.
The contexts here are also very different - one driven by a controlled and deeply prepared competition format with a full production crew, the other an open air concert which I believe was attended by the prime minister of Norway but filmed with a hand held camera.

U can always make out her voice from any other female singers. I can't say the same about Angelina. And yes, Angelina is amaizing singer too and she has a such beatiful voice, but she is using just high register and Diana goes high and low and she changing it very fast, using different vocal mechanisms like air flow. Diana has very powerful and deep voice and she is Master of yodeling.

Yes, both great singers with completely different styles, just over 3 years between them in age (which I don't think matters a huge amount) and different vocal abilities and timbres. BOTH are going to be superstars of the future (they already are to their fans!) and I just feel privileged to have been around to hear them both! But Diana is unique and inimitable!
Diana doesn't get the styles of some of the songs. Like this song for instance. Angelina knows how to use real jazz and doesn't make something that is jazzy into theatrical which is what I have seen Diana do. I just love that Angelina respects the original inception of the song and pretty much keeps it there in the same genre which is respectful but can still make it her own. It is a talent to the details in the genres and how to change things but still respect the original and not reinvent it.

One thing I think is lost here........it is that had Angelina not taken the TH-cam by storm, singing this song and others like it, Diane probably would have never considered singing this. I have noticed, even on ads on TV, these songs being reborn. To me, nobody does them justice like Angelina. If for no other reason, she should get credit for that. But, in my opinion, she does it cleanly and perfectly.
You are absolutely right! I think that Diana is following some of Angelina's choices for whatever reason.
For me, this demonstrates one of the things I like best about Angelina. She is there to sing for us. No drama, no exaggerated moves or vocals, no additions that distract from delivering the message of the lyrics. She sings rather than performs. I like Diana-how could you not? But Angelina fits my idea of a singer. I’m here for the voice and the interpretation of the lyrics, which Angelina does better than anyone I’ve ever listened to. She really does justice to the lyrics here and gives us soul in her own way-and it’s authentic and moving.

Her renditions of Feeling Good and Deniere Danse (not the abbreviated version she sang on the You Are Super show) come to mind.
I've always loved this song and for me it's AJ's version without contest.
Now I'm not saying that Diana didn't sing well, it's just that the style she chose doesn't suit Jazz in my opinion and it doesn't feel as "soulful" to me.
There are some songs covered by Diana that I don't think that AJ would suit as much, she would do an excellent job of course because she's great but it wouldn't feel as good as Diana singing them.

I'm a fan of both Diana and Angeina, both are amazing, and still... Despite Angelina's beautiful, and sometimes endless, melismas, Diana's got more of the passion and energy required by this particular song. I really love Angelina's singing, but I can't listen to her for a long time, while listening to Diana is never too much.
For me the voice and presentation of Diana is spectacular and absolutely unique. But it is not a voice that can go with every song, for me. I like the songs where there are Balkan or oriental influences. And furthermore: she and the team around her want her to shine in a big showy way! Outgoing. Circus. This is in huge contrast with Angelina, who is much more introvert. She is best with melancholy and subtleness. I do like the song very much. I grew up with it and danced on it at school parties. I prefer Angelina, because in a way it's a tribute to James Brown, she makes it even more jazzy and she is still able to give her own emotional spin to it. Without any form of show! Singers and instrumentalist musicians are simply a complement to the song: without a song the best singer in the world is nobody. The biggest songs the singer has, the better chance of success is going to have, it is easy the equation. Having base this reasoning we can compare artists, in this case Angelina and Diana. Diana is excellent in this type of dark songs, Diana is ideal for gray, melanchological, sad, painful songs, with dim light. In a day, it seems ideal to listen to a target song, but life needs lights and colors. Angelina In addition to being a musical composer, instrumentalist and musical arranger has the ability to cover all kinds of musical colors and textures from dark and clear textures. It seems strange to me that many reactors do not realize that Angelina is not a simple singer, she is a musical genius with the ability to understand any musical color that a composer could imagine at a song. Diana is fabulous in some songs until better than Angelina, for example in the Soccer, Ronaldo Nazario (the best 9 in the world) as 9 was the best but that does not make the biggest of all time Because Messi is considered the best Player of all time? I find that Diana resonates more deeply, more emotionally with me than Angelina but that is a purely personal preference. Both of them are amazing singers and deserve all the praise they get.

I think that Diana and Angelina are global apex female vocalists. The main reason I prefer Diana is that her tone quality gives me goosebumps. I think Diana tends toward the operatic and Angelina tends towards jazz/r&b. Both of these girls are still developing their voices, and both are still improving and getting stronger. The main thing I take away from these two performances is that you better have a lot of confidence if you're gonna cover Etta James/James Brown. And both of these young superstars have a LOT of confidence. I think that the world will be a better place if both of these girls live long and prosper.

I noticed you punted on the comparison, which is probably smart if you don’t want to alienate either fan base, but there is a definite difference, and it is in artistry and listenability, and I could see by the bobbing of your head that you were able to connect more with Angelina’s performance over Diana’s, which is the difference between vocal gymnastics and using runs to string the song into a cohesive delivery. I will be honest, this is the first Diana performance I almost listed to the whole thing, she needs to work on her delivery, just like Dimash who I also cannot listen to, on the other hand Angelina has been able to deliver a song and make a connection with her musicians and the audience from the very beginning, that’s why when she obviously still had a child’s voice, we didn’t even care, and we still followed her through her development of her artistry. But that is the nature of art, two artist can sit on the bank of a river and paint the same landscape, both paintings will be totally different! And if they are good at their artistry, then it will affect people differently, but all who see them will be affected, or it isn’t art. I can listen to Angelina and appreciate her artistry, I cannot listen to Diana and Dimash, they may have great tools, but they fail to use them to create a masterpiece!

Not sure I can be completely fair here. Both are unbelievable singers with accomplishments that belie their ages. Still, in terms of vocal quality, I prefer AJ's quality in general; I find AJ more believable and less "put on" than Diana. In terms of performance, it seems to me that Diana is far more commercial in her production whereas AJ is just more personal. So, again, I find AJ's performances more to my (personal) liking. I am not looking forward to the day AJ becomes more commercial. This is just my personal preference and not a condemnation of Diana.
In fairness, it may be that my background in performance colors my preferences. As a quick tattle on myself: when I was auditioning to be accepted into the classical guitar program at Loyola, I played the Bach Bourree from BWV 996 - everyone knows it - heck, even Jethro Tull played it (well, sort of LOL) ... and I'm here to tell ya - I played the livin' HELL out of that piece - I was on FIRE!! - I mean, I was all but dancing on the stool and was VERY expressive - and, yes, even with my facial expressions. ... When I finished playing, the head of the program offered his critique: "Well, as far as I can tell, the only thing you know about playing the guitar is that your thumb goes behind the neck." ... 8-| ... so, yeah, I was accepted into the program (somewhat unexpectedly btw heh heh) - but, admittedly, that critique permanently altered my perception and understanding of "performance." ... ... ... WOW, THIS was a lot longer response than I intended LOL

У ДИАНЫ бесподобный уникальный ВОКАЛ и ВЕЛИКОЛЕПНЫЙ АРТИСТИЗМ, чего у Ангелины нет.
Все-таки Анжелина много завывает. Это не песня, нет у нее мелодии в голосе, а жаль. Иногда слышно, что голос есть и приятный, но постоянная вибрация просто раздражает. Но все западники, которые сравнивают этих двух девочек, отдают предпочтение Джордан, и.к.они их певица. Но поет она бездушно. А Диана разрывает не только свою душу, но и наши. А голос какой. Такого второго нет.

It's hard to compare. 2 totally different styles. Also, one is high production value with light and firework and all that special effects, one is just outdoor concert. One is professionally video taped and awesome sound control. The other one is just recording by a fan's iPhone? But true, Diane has powerful voice, has great stage presence, is a great stage performer, very charismatic. absolutely true. Honestly though, her "manly" voice is a bit distracting for me. especially, at the very beginning. Something to get used to. Angelina's voice, on the hand, has more characters and sweetness to it. The natural rasp in her voice is quite pleasant to my ears. Anyway, I did enjoy Diana's performance. but if it were just sound only, and no visuals, I would enjoy Angelina's version more.

I would say, they are both young, developing, and already beyond amazing. Who one prefer is just a matter of taste. BTW, was in a sad mood when watching this. Just minutes before I received an email from Kongsberg Jazzfestival that AJs concert July 8 is moved to next year (6th to 9th July 2022), and my tickets will be transfered. I listen a lot to her concert at the festival in 2018, and hoped she would sing a.o It's a Mans World again this summer. Well, next year then..

I do think that they both have great voice but I don't think that this is the right song for Diana. The spirit of this is nearer to jazz and soul. Angelina is more in this genre and her version is more in the spirit of James Brown. Something like Only Human or Wicked Games is more in line with what fits Diana style. This is obviously my taste. They both have amazing voices but there forte are very different. They just don't have the same roots and influences.

I don't think that Diana really is tapped into Jazz .. Angelina totally understands the song and knows what jazz and rock really are. Diana reverts to theatrical performance which totally changes the dynamic of the song. When someone is doing a cover a jazz song should stay a jazz song. If somebody wants to make such big changes that it is no longer a jazz song, it is like taking something from someone and using it while just plain "messing around" with it to suit your convenience. It just doesn't seem right. If you have to change up a song that much....write your own.

I like AJ version a lot more. AJ lets her voice shine. Diana does all that body shaking that does nothing for the song itself. Diana has a powerful voice but I wouldn't listen to her version multiple times. I have already listen to AJ version many times.

AJ's style is more jazzy which is what I prefer. Diana is more theatrical which is the way that she has approached other songs that he has done that AJ has also done. AJ is more like a "torch singer" (torch singer to carry a torch for someone", or to keep aflame the light of an unrequited love "all that she needs is a stage, a light on her, a piano or guitar and maybe a stool and microphone to sing all night. Diana however is all "in" with the lighting, special effects, costuming.....I prefer the sublety of AJ's manor in the way that she approaches her music. She usually touches people emotionally, and not by "over singing." Very nice reaction...You make me laugh when you have a song to listen to and it's a song that you don't like! Especially when you end up listening to it twice.
BTW A really great song of AJ's that I don't think that you listened to is "Born to Die". I think that might really like it.
For me it's Angelina as I think that Diane is good but Angelina 's sings it with much more emotion.

I would love to see Diana Versioning Michael Jackson, Adele, Billy Holiday, Fitzgerald, Jhon Legend, Sam Smith, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Amy Winehouse. Diana in her tone of her voice is wonderful but she is a very small (dark) tone of voice that has very little ability to capture songs and composers of thousands of brightly colored textures. Respect for Diana fans and I admire Diana in her dark texture, Angelina is predestined to be the living legend of universal music in all her colors and possible forms

Thx Danny for your honest reaction again. I'm assuming that since DA gave you chills you liked her version a little bit better than AJ. One was a big production with a 14 almost 15 yo & the other was a 12 yo filmed at a outside concert with the band sound mic to loud & on a little home camera w/mic.(This drama has been going on for a while now & yet both girls respect each other & their craft.) Sometimes this gets as bad as the Hatfield & Mccoy's) When peeps started down playing Angie's abilities than I have to do some educating. (For DA is still awesome & I do like her in her genre) but when people compare Diana A. To Angie & they say that Angie has 1 octave or is to tall or has no talent, I remind them about this prodigy (& there are other prodigies out there too) AJ sings & talks in at least 5 languages & plays 5 instruments, composes, writes music, arranges & rearranges music, makes a lot of her own outfits, has published a book already & is considered a great painter etc etc. Has been acknowledged & is loved by the greats, such as Quincy Jones, David Foster, Mark Ronson etc etc etc. All before she was 12 & still doing that. She gives a lot to needy children & people. Has raised millions for those causes throughout the world. I mean this list can go on & on & on. But it comes down to who does a person like. I like both, but Angie's voice, timbre & emotes, for me (in clear English) I just like little better. I still like Diana, too for I love her tribal, & pop sounds, If I compared Laura Bretan to them both in her genres they both would lose badly, only Dimash can compete with her & she’s still 10 yrs younger than him, so that wouldn’t even be fair etc
It's like comparing Whitney Houston to Mariah Carey or to Ella Fitzgerald or even Maria Callas etc.. They were excellent in their prime & genre’s & people liked each one for there own reasons better that the other. (Plus Angie's has a smaller fan base, but is very diverse in age, social economics & countries throughout the world & not just in the little country of Norway, Where DA has the huge country of Russia & Kazakhstan as well as other countries for support) Also they sing in different styles & genres. DA is also 3 yrs older, which some say doesn’t make that big of a difference, it does. Listing to Diana or Angie 3 yrs younger or older & you can hear it. So let see where they both are in 10 yrs if our planet makes that far. Remember Art is subjective, not objective. Some like apples some like oranges, but in the end they're both fruit so enjoyable.
Diana is Miles , heck universes better. There is no comparing a prop plane you have heard 1,000 times before to a subsonic electric powered space ship. You just may prefer a prop plane but in no logical way is it better. Preferences.
