Omg i would be having a meltdown on that train with all those loud drunk people. That hotel is just awful, you need functioning doors and to feel safe. I hope you get your money back. 😣
You absolutely did the right thing! You took action to take care of your well-being and safety. I am so proud of you for getting out of there and making it home safe even in the state of disregulation you were in. And side note I hope you are able to get a full refund from that pathetic excuse for a hotel room. Holy shit.
Glad you're safe! ♡
💯
Surely they should be required to have an emergency exit for safety reasons?? That's quite strange, I think you should always leave a place if you feel unsafe, it's not silly. I'm glad you enjoyed the actual event though.
that train ride home didn't seem great either
in panic and dangers, it's emergency plan home !
Faaack no. You made the right choice. You're not safe without a locked door. It's a roast that your plans got ruined but that's not your fault. That's the accoms fault. They should have found you alternate accoms when they couldn't provide your safety. Safety is a real thing. Maybe that's my autism talking but I would have felt and done exactly the same thing. You're a champion for taking care of yourself. (And the train ride afterward would have freaked me out. I hate drunken louts.)
I don't think you're being dramatic. I think you did the right thing to leave and ensure your safety, and you should definitely demand a refund. I hope you feel better soon, lovely
5:18 - Okay what's with the Crocodile Dundee knife?!
Dana, im so proud of you for going on this adventure! the way you guided yourself through the pre travel anxiety and made plans to accommodate to your needs is so fascinating and incredible!! You did the right thing. Thank you for sharing with us!! ❤
You did the right thing and your cat was pleased to see you. And the event seemed fun. That's all good in my book. When things like that happen to me, I just tell myself tomorrow is another day until I feel better. Usually several times.
wow you did so well in such a stressful situation!
Effing door! That was not cool. Glad you got home safe and sound and I appreciated your reflection on your experience. You took care of yourself and did what you needed to do. And the event sounds lovely. ❤🐈⬛!
Absolutely not overreacting, that """hotel""" shit was ridiculous. Glad the event itself was great at least :)
I think it's awesome despite being anxious you had the courage to go, and I feel like you are totally valid in not feeling safe when the main door isn't working for many reasons, and you're justified in asking for a refund, it wasn't fit for purpose at all. I hope you are proud of yourself for going and getting to enjoy the day despite all the stressors.
You did the right thing and left when you felt unsafe. Half of these clips are giving me a fight or flight response just watching😂 the world is strange and it can feel like your reactions are strange as a result, but your reactions were perfectly reasonable!
Same as others have said, you were not being 'dramatic' at all, that was reasonable and valid thing to leave the hotel and ask for a refund! How many safety codes would that door violate?! I think other people would feel the same distress in that situation and I'm sorry that you went through it. I'm glad you enjoyed a little of it in meeting Dean at least but yeah, that whole hotel situation was cr*p.
I almost panicked seeing what happend with you´re door. So I can only imagine how hard is was for you to go trough that.
Them being so like yea when the locksmith is there... omg what if there was a fire. When 3 people cant kick it in... how would a firefighter get trough?
I am so proud you went even though you were very anxious.
I can 100% see the logic in having to go home. You made the absolute best of it. I would be recovering for 3-5 business days now. Hope you have some grace with yourself. It may be both your disability and the world, and that sucks and it all shouldn't have happened to you, but you are on the other side of it and you know you can get on the train and come home if you need to and that is worth being so proud of yourself for
Writing this around the 12:16 mark--Dana I am so sorry, you are amazing and resilient and good on you for knowing you needed to go home and somehow managing to do it. Seriously very good self care instincts for figuring out what you could handle in the situation.
Pretty much any plans that I make make me feel like how you felt at the start of this vid.. especially if they involve trains 🤢 you're not alone!
They 💚 were unsafe overnight in that hotel, door jammed locked or broken open as well as walking night streets with their backpack hoping for another room !
The emergency plan was best.
Yes, radishraven9, they'd better have the money back.
So sad the trip had to crash.
So valid that you left!
Eeeep! That’s so cool you included part of the interview with him, he’s hilarious! That was so fun to watch.
God I'm so glad you went home that was so scary!! I'm so glad you had a good time at the event though, it seemed great!
Good gravy, that looked like an awful situation to be in! Glad you're safe and that Dean Andrews was lovely ❤
I'm sorry the hotel was so terrible and your feelings about it were completely valid for the reasons people mention here. Your feelings matter and are valid anyway. You need to be able to exit in an emergency. It wouldn't feel safe. I'm glad you enjoyed the parts you could though. As you say here, it was an experience. I bet that Otis was glad to see you home safely. You got through the bad bits and nobody can take the good bits away.
I am visually impaired. If that happened to me, I would have left. Unlocked exterior door, no way. And the hotel's incompetence in handling the problem as well. You didn't overreact.
Yes, you have every right to ask for your money back! If it’s drama that you don’t need right now then just know we would all have done the same or suffered a hellish night of sleeplessness and fear because we didn’t want to ‘cause a fuss’. Even if I’d been there with my partner, we would have left. Stranger with a massive kitchen knife? Nope. Hopefully he wanted your room number to support you in a money back dispute? Who knows? He didn’t say that.
I think you did amazingly well to get to the event at all, given how you felt initially. I hope you’re feeling better now Chick!
I’m sure Otis was happy to have you back early🥰
Yeah Birmingham is pretty rough to be honest glad you're safe and yeah... That knife would have scared me abit and I'd be panicking glad you decided to go home
Yes, that's a fair reason for asking for your money back. I'm sorry it went so badly. The odds were against you getting hurt, but it still pays to be careful. Did you avoid the meltdown?
You weren't being rediculess, if there was a fire and you couldn't get out....is totally unfit. And the lock is damaged now so also not safe for people entering( if it was safe why did it need a lock afterall ). On the plus side, dean did seam nice from the video ^^, glad you got something positive from the event 😊
I'm sorry that your trip turned out that way and I'm sorry for the lost money. But you made the right decision. 😢
I call my ADHD tangents/distractions "side quests" and I love to see someone else use this term, in neurodivergence. I'm sorry your side quest was was a little unpleasant.
