Been talking to Duncan MacFarlane about this today. The programme was made in 1977 but he didn't get to see it himself until about 2 years later when Pete Gilder had a video of the whole series of 6. Unfortunately Pete was showing the video at Northern Militaire a few years later and it was stolen so this will be the first time Duncan has seen it in about 25 years. As far as he knows only four of the original six programmes survive so if anyone has the other two it would be great to see them all again.
@@LuckyDrD Duncan founded both Miniature Wargames and later Wargames Illustrated. He made a career out of wargaming and founded the Partizan shows in the mid 80s. Sadly he died in 2021. My friend of 40 years.
This was what I remember watching all those years ago age 10 what a great show started me on the road of wargames still playing to this day thanks for showing a fond memories. Go to see the late but great Edward.
Stephen Smith i lived in the wrong area so i was never lucky enough to see this when it was on TV, but i remember reading about it in Miniature Wargaming.
Oh that was better than Christmas!!! please sir can I have some more...... this has just it the best Christmas ever. Will watch this again and again thankyou Doug
excuse me, Doug, if you're still around here. Please, sir, I am a twenty year old American and I'd like to know more about this program. Thanks in advance, if you ever see this.
Historical wargaming? Yes, I've personal yet to meet a woman who plays historical wargames. Fantasy and sci-fi wargaming does have some female players. Most are board gamers or roleplayers.
@@danmorgan3685 I started with 40K only because there was no historical wargaming to find in the area after I discovered Charge! and Featherstone in the university library. (by then this sort of classic gaming was a generation past.) I play almost exclusively historical games now, though I still find time for fantasy RPGs.
Could watch that all day! Thanks for uploading. :0)
This is incredible! Could literally watch this forever lol

Hello Mr Plague Company......... you'll find a few articles at unfashionablyshiny.blogspot.com/search/label/Battleground
Does anybody know which set of rules were being used in this programme?
George Gush's WRG set - coupled with Gilder's Napoleonic artillery rules for added drama.
Thanks for the information Doug.
Ace!!
This is great! What show was this?
Edward Woodward lived at Edgehill
Sheer Joy.
I imagine this is a pastime totally foreign to females of our species....?
