It absolutely is! My kids always laugh when I say "I grew that!" at the dinner table. But it never gets old for me. I remember the first food I ever grew. It was green beans in a pot on my apartment patio 25 years ago! I ha⁴⁴d no idea when to harvest the green beans or anything. I could have asked one of my grandparents for advice, but I was afraid they would laugh because I was gardening in a pot. So instead, I just kept watching these beans get bigger and bigger and bigger, lol!! They were so stringy and awful by the time I decided to harvest them. But I was still so excited and proud of myself, and because "I grew that!"
I can't even tell you how excited I was to get a good harvest. It's my first time growing them and I will definitely be growing them in the future! Thanks for coming over from UGG! Kee Kee is such an awesome person. Her support of others is amazing!

This is gonna be me this coming weekend, so exciting but seriously, try Covington sweet potato instead, I never could grow sweet potatoes until I tried Covingtons, your yields will be even better! And keep the little tiny ones, just keep them with all the others, cover them over with dirt when it comes time to start new slips with them :)
You start your slips in the ground? I've heard a lot of gardeners in the deep south do that. I probably could too. I did enjoy growing the slips inside in the winter though. You know, I don't think I do. I think I've felt like a sweet potato novice, that I've been reluctant to share my tips. Unlike other crops that I've grown for years and years, I've only been growing sweet potatoes for 3 years. Perhaps, I am trying a new fertilizer in 2 of my sweet potato bags this year. So if I like it, I'll share my findings.
I bet you're going to do great! When do you plan on harvesting? I wonder if I should have waited on my second grow bag to get a bit bigger? I'm definitely going to wait as long as possible for that last bag.
That's an excellent question. Some that I really enjoy are from Homestead Heart, Lead Farmer, Lady Lead, Nancy and Hollis, and Gary at the Rusted Gardener. I hope these help.

Here is a great idea !!! Instead of chewing and spitting tobacco .Chew raw sweet potato .swallow the juice , spit the pulp There is actually a divise called a " jawzrcise jaw exerciser" you chew it and it makes your face very handsome liek a movie star. Chewing sweet potato would do the same One (low priority ) breeding trait would be to breed for the juiciest sweet potatoe becasue that is actually what I am doing (swallowing the juice and spitting out the puip) Try It when you have a long drive or are going on a long walk or hike Its not only another marketing angle it makes for a heathier USA

4. This year I planted 2-3 per bag to see if I could get bigger potatoes. We'll find out in about a month or so, if it made a difference.
How many potatoes per slip do you get on average?
It was sort of hard to tell because we were pulling them up so willy-nilly in all of our excitement, lol! I'll have to pay more attention this year.
