The best part of this is the kids acting like whatever you have is the most delicious thing ever. Lol
Potatoes, rice, oatmeal, veggies, with occasional random fruit. Fast, full, cheap, super health and no counting or figuring. Easy!
🎉excellent. That is where I’m headed. Couple questions…
Do you have any fats like avo or nuts? Beans? Do you sweeten your oatmeal at all?
I have healing digestion issues and don’t do any fats except for what is naturally in oats. I’m concerned I won’t get full.
@@CalmVibesVee Oatmeal sweetened with maple syrup from my own trees or unsweetened apple sauce from my own trees. No fats. Potatoes or rice topped with any veggies and homemade salsa (tomatoes, onions, peppers, cilantro) or a little salt and a squirt of catsup. Sometimes cold with nothing. I drink a lot of water from my well, spiked with unfiltered apple cider vinegar I make and lemon juice with a bit of diatomaceous earth and probiotics.
Fill a pot with water. Dump in rice or potatoes and veggies. Scoop into bowl, dump on salsa. Or pour in oats, scoop into bowl and sweeten. Pour a cup of water. Fast, fast, filling, filling, cheap, cheap and no big plans "What should I make now?" I'm a weight lifter, construction worker and farmer so you know I need a lot of energy. Zero physical issues due to diet. I'm 63 and my annual physicals always gets the comment "You look like a 25 year old physically." Colon examines always come out very pink and clean and flawless. Zero bathroom issues. I have no worries about from time to time hitting a salad bar or eating over friends house. Fast food on VERY rare occasions make me stink when I sweat and gives me gas otherwise I almost never really need deodorant.
Oh, sometimes I make a big kettle of bean soup, eat a few bowls and baggie freeze the rest for when I feel like some. In the winter during big snows I'll have a cup of hot cocoa.
@@CalmVibesVee I "forgot and love" to say I garden and have raspberries, gooseberry and other berry bushes, and plums and pear trees. I frequently graze my yard while relaxing or working.
I must confess, I have never made it past day two on Mary's mini. You have inspired me to try again. At 63, it is nearly impossible to shed a single pound plus, I have a nasty habit of trying every single new vegan fake food product on the market to prove to my meat eating friends how easy it is to go plant-based. Pffffffffffffft duh. Love your channel. Thank you!
I haven’t tried Mary’s mini but I’m doing the 50/50 plate. I stalled out on losing weight so I cut back on fruit to one serving per day which got me back to shedding around two pounds per week (which I’m happy with). I love fruit but it has a lot of calories compared to vegetables and starches.
I love these challenges! 🎉
Mary's mini is the best diet I know. I am 46 years old and spend years trying different diets that I hated.
I'm so glad you found something that worked for you!!
Which Mary mini starch works the best for you?
I’m leaning towards oats.
@@CalmVibesVee The best for me is potatoes.
@@joanavicente5493ok great!!
I figured out I need atleast one pound of broccoli with potatoes to have satiety so I will try another mini practice with that amount.
@@CalmVibesVeeoats is not good. It depletes the body of b vitamins and can cause malnourishment without you realizing it. It is why synthetic b vitamins are added to grains and breads etc.
Great video! Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Hi, I am a Vegan Mamma and I just found your channel. Love your videos. I’m wanting to do a Mary’s mini!! ❤ sending love and good vibes from Seattle!!
I ran into you accidentally and found you to be very refreshing and the video on Mary’s Mini I think that’s exactly what I need to do. I have struggled after I’ve gained weight to get the weight off now so thank you so much.
Thanks for sharing your journey! I’m going to give it a go.
Let me know how it goes!
Funny thing with the Mary’s mini. I feel like I’m over potatoes for a week after then I crave them again. I do need to eat fruit though. I don’t have sweet tooth but salt. I love salt.
Interested to give this a try after a lavish Christmas and overseas travel eating out a lot. Very helpful video :) in terms of not overeating but making sure you're full and satisfied, how many potatoes do you eat per meal?
I feel like the soup would help alot
The meals looked pretty good - ✔️
Thank you! And thanks for watching!
Can you eat your garlic mashed potato recipe on the Mary’s Mini?
I eat a plant based diet and I eat a lot! Probably too much but thankfully I don’t gain weight easily. I’m not sure I could do this challenge😂 Good for you and thanks for the tips!
It’s was eye opening for me, especially to see where I usually emotionally eat.
I love all types of potatoes! 😋
Can we mix potatoes? Sweet vs white vs gold vs russet potatoes?
Me too!! The goal is to stick with the same starch so it becomes monotonous, from having the same things over and over again. The reason the McDougalls say that is because we tend to over eat when there is a variety. Having said all that though! I do know people who will eat different kinds of potatoes to keep things interesting and have some variety! So really, it's up to you!
@@plantwhys - thank you!! Well good thing, cause I’m all stocked up on potatoes and veggies 😂
@@KrystalC05 let me know how it goes!!!
I can imagine doing the diet part, but no coffee?
Try dandilion root and chicory root. For a hot beverage. It tastes similar and has excellent gut Health benefits
I watched your video on the word of wisdom and enjoyed it, and just stumbled across your second channel. I don’t plan on being vegan ever but to eat vegan a few days of the week with eggs and fish most other days and meat sparingly.
A question, how does the Mcdougal diet compare to the daily dozen from Dr Greger? Greger says to eat legumes 3 times a day (protein), mcdougal doesn’t seem to be big on legumes, he says no more than a cup. Would the Mcdougal diet be too low on protein? Especially when restricting calories? People say as long as you eat enough calories, you’ll get enough protein from plants, but what if you’re lowering your calories? Legumes become very important in a diet extremely low in animal foods.
No coffee???? I don't know if I could do it....... Even though I just have one cup in the morning.
Did you use frozen broccoli and cooked it in the microwave?
I don’t know about vegetables in morning. How many meals are recommended? I could eat vegetables if it’s later say 11 like intermittent fasting with 2 meals.
@plantwhys do we have to only eat one type of starch the whole challenge for it to work? Like could we do rice one meal instead of potatoes?
Part of this diet is to be boring. Eating the same over and over is boring so you tend to eat less.
I want to meet the person that doesn’t like potatoes lol
His name is "Wizard" and he lives in Sherman Oaks, California. He is the only one.
How do you do potato chips in the air fryer
I think it's easier in the microwave. I slice them paper thin, put them in a single layer, and watch closely as they cook. When I tried ithem in the air-fryer, they flew around, got stuck in the fan, and burned quickly.
Too much variation (with condiments and green smoothie). Purpose is to not just change taste buds away from concentrated sugar and salt in SAD diet, but to have such an ultra bland diet that you get to the point where you only eat when you are hungry, rather than bored. This is a 10 day challenge. Emphasis on the word challenge.
I’m confused. I just watched a video of Mary talking about her mini. It is much stricter than this and she mentioned that the “updated versions” are not the same, not hers. So who updated the original version? Thanks.
That is interesting. The updated version is on the McDougall Website here: www.drmcdougall.com/education/information/marys-mini-mcdougall-diet/
It’s not the original Mary’s minis diet and yes the original was much stricter with no fruit. But people started complaining about no fruit allowed so they relented and said that fruit could be added to the diet. The carnivore is the best one to do to get rid of so many health conditions.
So….. it s basically the half and half plate. 😮
Yes but only with one type of starch for 10 days straight.
Why do you have to stick to one starch and not mix it up with other starches?
It’s part of the protocol for a Mary’s mini.
No beans or legumes? Oh I see sweet peas and tofu.
You pick ONE starch only to use for 10 days. She chose potatoes, you can choose beans.
The McDougalls say You cannot use beans as your starch because there is too much protein in beans. You can add a small amount of beans to your main starch such as having rice with beans and veggies. You want to keep beans to less than 1 cup per day.
@@karenbailyWhy beans less than one cup? Dr Greger recommends 3 servings a day (1.5 cups). Beans become very important when decreasing the consumption of animal foods.
Mary's Mini is your selected starch ONLY for 10 days, you did it incorrectly. Start over. NO FRUIT!
Check out Dr. McDougall’s updated version on his website.
