    I see this being useful even if you don’t own a Bambu Labs! Stick a good filament welder in between and make spools of your own multi-color filament!

    i realy like this idea, would help solve alot of issues with tangled spools... but if i may, as noted by others the spool holder possibly have some sort of tapered cone (or stepped) for self centering. a belted stepper motor for the drive to be able to set and forget. (perhaps a filament runout at the head of the feed to signal the reeling completion) and lastly some sort of drag-brake on the feeding spool to allow for tensioning of the filament as it is transferred. i see you using your hand for this, but the finished spooling does show a good bit of slack in the finished spool, sort of defeats the point. i love your feed-pathing mechanism!

    This was very satisfying to watch, and how long it took your to rewind that entire spool going at the speed and thinking aboout how long it takes a printer to use the whole spool at its speed haha
    so my understanding is your are taking the taller, Slimmer spool and respooling it onto a shorter, wider spool so that it fits in a material selector box?

  • @InTheDogHouse3DPrinting

    Why use the cardboard on the center of the empty spool? Is that a spool from Bambu Labs? Mine are all plastic, and I had to rewind them by hand and it's a pain. I will be downloading and printing this for future work.

    • @fokkre
      @fokkre  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it is one of the kickstarter rolls that came with the unit. The plastic spool portion doesn't have a hole for the end of the filament so i had to reuse it.

    • @InTheDogHouse3DPrinting
      @InTheDogHouse3DPrinting ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@fokkre I would drill a small hole for the filament in the spool if it didn't have a hole in it. If you don't have a drill, use a solder iron with a pointed tip to melt a small hole in it.

    Hmm, I can't really see doing this between 2 1kg rolls. I can see doing this between one of the larger rolls and a 1kg or smaller rolls. It is very interesting though. I think it could probably use a DC motor and controller just because I am naturally lazy and don't want to spend a lot of time cranking that respooler like that. Great project though.

      Just grab the simple spool clamp design off the bambu discord, chuck it in a drill, and clamp a spool holder in a vice for the roll you're despooling. I can rewrap a kg in like 2 minutes from opening the vacuum packaging.

  • @StabbyMcStabwood

    This is overly complicated and way too slow. I just use a spool holder that I clamp in a vice for my roll to be despooled and the simple roll clamp that threads onto a piece of all thread, chuck it up in a drill and let it rip at full speed. You just have to angle the drill a little back and fourth to get the spool to wrap clean. Also, if you put a little bend on the end of the filament it's enough to hold it to the spool while you get the first couple wraps on. You were struggling pretty hard to get it into that hole in the cardboard, but the plastic spool doesn't have a corresponding hole to go through.
