Welcome to the 3d Printing club! What printer did you end up with? Right now, I'm rocking 5 printers; my Ender 3 is my workhorse, Ender 5, Sunlu S8, Sunlu S9, and an Elegoo Mars coupled with the Anycubic Wash and Cure 3.
I have a Saturn 3 ultra with the same mars package you have. But I have to admit I prefer hand washing parts in a bucket of iso, we only use the cleaner for my sons minis. Resin printing is messy, but I just act loke I’m cooking meth and it puts it in perspective. Worth it!
@@MantisNineNines You're right! =) Man, i'm not sure how you left my algorithms, but I thought this was the first video you uploaded in years! lol Apologies. Great to know. Thanks!
Holy crap! You weren't kidding, it's going to be a big boy. I hope your Legioss's construction will be lightweight, or it's going to hurt to transform.
It’s definitely not light… At best this will be able to be delicately transformed and hopefully stand without destroying itself! But I figure worst case scenario I will glue it as a kick ass statue.
I would be anxious to see this assembled. Those pin joints are either going to be loose, or you are likely to wind up cracking them. You will probably have to use some floor polish on them. Ball joints will be particularly troublesome.
The pins are definitely the biggest engineering issue. Current plan is to use electrical wire I have in my shop, the rubber coating sanded down gives a decent grip. The ball joints are abs-like resin, floor polish/super glue wears off but this won’t be handled often so fingers crossed….
@@MantisNineNines abs-like resin really isn’t anything like abs plastic in my experience. It has, maybe, the feel of abs. But it doesn’t have the strength, flexibility, or durability of it. There are some special flex resins you can mix in. But I think they tend to lower the dimensional stability while you are printing just because they make the resin more “rubbery”. I wish you luck though.
@@JimmyHauser you’re right about the abs-like, but it does improve the surface-to-surface interaction compared to standard. My expectation is to end up with a transforming statue, I knew action figure was impossible from the beginning. But we’ll see! Could be a disaster for sure.
Ok, that looks gigantic! I wish you well in the painting department. I ended up buying a few different filaments and of course on was glow in the dark. Once I found out it was the same price as the others I just had to get some and play with it. It makes my whole desk look insane, but I love it.
I intend to paint the whole thing, leaving only the joint planes bare. But no matter what its going to be a chore!! I’m sure I’ll break down and get a filament printer too some day….
@@MantisNineNines The good thing is you seem to have a plan and taking it a little at a time. My 3D printer is technically my son's, so I just learned what he got while I was recovering from a heart attack.
@@JakalairVG I share with my boy too. It tests my patience haha but its good for me. Glad you recovered from your heart issue. No doubt I’ll have one someday, it scares the shit out of me.
Definitely looking forward to the build...I would love to get into 3d printing but I dont have the space and Im not sure if its healthy to have a 3d printer printing in the same small room I sleep in. That said, I've missed ya here. Wishing you good fortune in the build and in life
Thanks man, I appreciate the kind words! 3D printing is DEFINITELY not for a single room situation. That shit is a cloud of cancer! I print in my garage with fans going like a crazy person. My neighbors think I cook meth!
@@MantisNineNines Lol, you are making your own plastic crack so I guess the analogy is on point lol. I cant wait to have a place where I can have a 3d printer, first thing Im gonna do is figure out how to make replacement joints for the figs I own with GPS ( My armada Prime's arm just broke the other day)
YES! I've been looking at this model for a while. Can't wait to see the finished product. I believe the website has a Valkyrie model as well by the same artist?
@@MantisNineNines That makes sense. The Alpha/Legioss is a great design that I wish got more figures of in general. I hope your finished print is sturdy enough because some resins are kind of brittle from what I've heard.
welcome to the world of 3d printing :D

Awesome. And welcome back. Great video. Looking forward to the progress. And i miss your Convertors videos as well!
Thanks! I have 2 convertor videos posted in the last 6 months, check them out if you havent already! I appreciate the kind comments 😃

Yup, a VF-1. I want to build that also, but the alpha is sturdier in general so I figured I would have better luck as a first timer.

What resin are you using?
The white parts are elegoo 2.0 and the grey are siraya tech ABS like.
