  • The chief prosecutor at the International Criminal Court (ICC) announced plans for a formal investigation into alleged war crimes by Israel in the Palestinian territories, prompting an angry response from Israeli leaders. Alleged war crimes by Palestinian militant groups like Hamas will also be investigated. The investigation will look at events in the territories from June 13, 2014 onwards.

    He says that the ICC is anti-semitic but the definition of anti-semitism is predjudice on the basis of religion. The ICC is not criticising the Jewish religion or the Jewish people but the actions of the Israeli State and its forces which is a different matter

      The definition of anti-semitism of hatred of people from the Middle East which includes Arabs, Kurds etc, not necessarily religion. But you are correct that criticizing the actions of the Israeli state is valid and has nothing to do with the Jewish religioon .

The Palestinians have been wrong for the treatment of the Israelis and Israelis have been wrong by their treatment of the Palestinians. " All you are doing is tying the knot of War Tighter and Tighter. And then it will become necessary to cut that knot" You know what war looks like when it's rolling into a village killing civilians and innocent people. At some point the Israelis and Palestinians both have to admit that their treatment of each other is wrong. Misunderstandings that lead to murder is ungodly. And you live in the holiest place on Earth. All couches all over the world should be able to visit Jerusalem and walk in the steps of the great Jewish and Christian leaders of the past. War is the enemy of humanity and the opposite of God. And just so we're clear no one in this country when a minority breaks the law blames it on the system. We blame it on the system when minorities unarmed are shot in the back. We blame the system when the police go to a house and shoot 32 rounds into a private citizens home killing her. We blame the system when a police officer kneels on the neck of an African American until he dies. I understand why you feel strongly. And to a point I agree with you the Jewish people have been persecuted throughout history but that doesn't make two wrongs right and that they should do it to the Palestinians. The UN is guilty of war crimes in Israel. They admitted that they allowed Hamas to store weapons and missiles in their schools, and even allowed these locations to be used for attacks on innocent Israeli citizens. Thus resulting in the IDF targetting schools with children, this use of civilians as human shields by Hamas and the UN should be addressed first. It also helps explain why the UN has admitted a self professed "state-less" people as a state, they are attempting to hide their own role in their terrorist atrocities.

      Been warning Israelis and their supporters of that for decades, but they never listen. It's like the little boy who cried wolf once too often; it's destructive and it leads to no good end. For many of us who care about both Israeli's and Palestinians who are wrongly and unjustly accused of anti-Semitism, it becomes something of an unwanted badge of honor. Long before there was the Republican cult, there was the hasbara and their helpers, placing the Israeli government before truth, reason, decency, justice, and the long-term interests of both Jews and Palestinians. Ironically, there is much more truthfulness to be found on the Palestinian side than the Israeli. Most of the world knows this, but Americans have been brainwashed on this conflict, unfortunately, with many taking a distorted view through a Christian religious prism--even though Christians in Israel and Palestine have suffered greatly under Israeli rule.

    Have studied this conflict for decades, care about both sides, and it is extremely disturbing and distressing to see how those so systemically persecuted for so long (Jews) have become those systemically persecuting another group of people (Palestinians) for so long. Suggest taking the time to take an objective look at the situation there; there are many books offering views from both sides of the competing narratives, some that offer a stark, unvarnished view of the racism against Palestinians at work from the Israeli government and Israeli Jews, and others from non-partisan sources that offer astute insight and analysis, as well as an accurate history of this century-old conflict. If reading is not your thing, there are numerous objctive TH-cam videos where one can gain good perspective, as well.

      Would you give any suggestions to the books or what kind of videos I should look up to that aren't biased and are equally fair(although, I shouldn't take sides, but I'm inclining more and more towards Palestine just by assessing and you know a super power like the U.S backing Israel is going to always seem disproportionate towards anyone else), nonetheless, I'm very interested on the matter and would be open-minded to whatever you recommended (I've seen your other comments and they are quite informative and funny “doc", lol).

    • @wilywascal2024
      @wilywascal2024 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@davidy498 ~ You are fortunate, in that over the past several decades more and more objective voices are speaking out, as the continuing history of this conflict plays out before us, reinforcing the central theme, and more and more objective historical studies and works have been written outlining it, increasing knowledge and availability of access to that knowledge.
      As your average American of neither Arab or Jewish descent, of neither Jewish or Islamic religion, held the same ingrained bias of most Americans growing up 50-60 years ago--the same ingrained bias still held by most Americans today. Which is for Israel. Didn't think much about the Palestinians, or know much about their struggle, and that didn't change until began learning more about the conflict as a teenager. By the time I turned 20, my understanding of the conflict was substantially greater, and the sympathies once held toward Israel began to change towards the plight of Palestinians. Way back then, it was much harder to educate oneself on the intricacies and complexities of this conflict, there were far few resources available, and the thinking at the time in those resources not as advanced or insightful as that of today. But the larger picture has always been clear, despite that, and despite what even then had been decades of one of the most successful propaganda efforts in history by the Israeli government--an effort which has continued to present times, and still is largely successful in America.
      It isn't about choosing a side between Jewish people or Palestinian people, though. In that respect, consider myself to be non-partisan. It's about choosing to be on the side of truth, reason, justice and human rights. In that regard, we should all be partisan. Be forewarned, however, that most objective sources speaking truthfully are often unjustly automatically labeled biased and anti-Semitic by Israel and its supporters. Be also warned that there are anti-Semitic voices against Israel, which should be spurned and avoided, for they won't teach one anything about this conflict that can't be learned from objective sources, anyway. It is usually very easy to distinguish those genuinely anti-Semitic. If unsure or in doubt, a bit of research on sources will typically reveal the truth one way or the other.
      Personally, prefer using a wide variety of sources, both those biased towards each respective side and those more non-partisan and objective, then drawing my own independent, unbiased conclusions. Such an approach is highly recommended. For instance, the Jerusalem Post is an Israeli newspaper that is right-wing, mostly pro-Israel. Ynet news online media is further right-wing, heavily pro-Israel. Then there is Haaretz, the oldest newspaper in Israel, also available in English online, which is pro-Israel and pro-Jewish, but progressive and much more critical of the Israel government and far more objective vis-à-vis the Palestinians. There are also Jewish organization in the U.S. dedicated to social justice and peace in Israel. Some, like JVP (Jewish Voice for Peace), are more heavily biased towards Israel, while others are more balanced and critical of the Israeli government. 972mag.com and mondoweiss.net are two excellent Jewish sources for news about Israel, Palestine, and the U.S. Israeli human-rights organizations are another excellent resource. Professor Noam Chomsky here in the U.S., who is Jewish, offers very astute insights and perspective on this conflict. Bennie Morris and Ilan Pappe are two Jewish-Israeli historians who agree on much of the history, but disagree on the morality involved and some of the details. Miko Peled is the son of a famous Israeli general, hero of the 1967 war. This is a moving story of a man who has taken the baton from his father in confronting the cost to both Israelis and the Palestinians of the brutal occupation of Palestinian lands. Miko served in the IDF himself so he is no naïve peacenik. His sister, an educator in Israel, also speaks out against Israeli government policies, particularly in regards to Israeli education. One can read his book coauthored with Alice Walker, or view one his many superb lectures on the subject through TH-cam:
      th-cam.com/video/pOTLf1AiCvg/w-d-xo.html
      The following from VOX may be rather superficial and simplistic, but provides a good, fairly objective overview of the conflict. It breaks down the various aspects, explaining each in fairly brief articles, which can be accessed step-by-step or from the initial page in whichever order one wishes. It's a good starting point and primer for those wishing to learn more:

    to be a democracy.. there should be an unequivocal separation between religion and state. If the nation is participating in activities that are war crimes they cannot hide behind their religious identity to avoid prosecution.

    No, it's not anti - semitism, having a particular identity does not entitle you to do whatever you want.
    Any time Israel gets criticised the people in charge scream "racism" and play the victim card.
    It's quite simple; if terrorists exist fine but don't slaughter people just living their lives. It's not about sides, it's about lives, whoever you are.
