    Hi, I came accross your channel when I was searching voice changer tutorials for my Alastor (from Hazbin Hotel) cosplay, and it's very helpful. Question, may I know which soundcard/voice changer do you suggest for this type of cosplay? was eyeing to get i9, but not sure if it's the best option.
    Thanks,

    • @creative-stuff
      @creative-stuff  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I’m glad it’s been helpful!
      You’ll see I’ve reviewed many voice changers (playlist th-cam.com/play/PLfxTIYzMCdBB5398aZzzp7EOPFwHWun8S.html&si=eeqr5egopVTQRKBe). Some other voice changers are stronger in some areas, in general i9 is a good catch but it’s worth taking a look at other options.
      For Alastor, to me it seems it’s more about his speaking style although it does seem like he’s got an old timey radio sound too.
      Depending on your voice perhaps can use pitch alterations for your voice which i9 can do via the female/male options.
      If your pitch is okay and you just wanted to sound a little old-timey like a radio you could use “DJ” setting on the i9 (with reverb at lowest setting) it sort of does that - BUT even better than the i9, for old timey, is the “Phonograph” setting on the K9 Voice changer - my review of K9 - th-cam.com/video/fq0E49NYM2s/w-d-xo.htmlsi=IF8Y0uHfY0NdsCH9 (buy it here: amzn.to/47WcyP9).
      If it were me - I’d opt for the K9 and use “Phonograph”, as his voice does seem like it’s coming over an old radio. (K9 is not as flexible on some other features but is excellent at old-timey!)
      It’s also the only one out there I’ve found that will allow a mix of pitch change and add reverb - good for other characters like Darth Vader, etc.
      Hope that helps.

    I want to buy a voice changer like this for my Boba Fett helmet. Question:
    -Does this have a inbuilt speaker? Or do I have to buy a speaker separately, connect it to the voice changer, and somehow stick the speaker on the inside of my helmet or on my clothing outside?
    -Do I have to buy a separate microphone to connect it to the voice changer and then place a microphone in the inside of the helmet?
    Thanks!

    • @creative-stuff
      @creative-stuff  3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      No speaker or mic included. Most folks buy a personal voice amp which is an amplified speaker with a mic input and microphone. Then use them both with the i9. Mic into the mic port. Then connect from i9 Headset port to mic port on the voice amp/speaker.
      Here’s a good personal amp that is small and if you want to do a helmet install of the amp its circuit board is perfect size for that. amzn.to/3AgvWvd

    Just got it in the mail today, exactly what I've been looking for to complete my voice amp for my suit. One question, which of the modes do you think gives the most accurate Mandalorian voice effect? I'm using DJ for now

    • @creative-stuff
      @creative-stuff  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I actually just messed with it recently and I think it was DJ that I heard and thought it sounded a lot like a trooper or mandalorian. It scales back some of the lower frequencies and added a pinch of reverb which sounds pretty close. I’d stay with the top section options. One or 2 of the others might work too if you turn the reverb down from their default settings.
      I don’t see any reason for the male/female section to be in the running for this.
      I’d experiment with tweaking the top options. DJ is a top contender for sure. The only way to get any better assessment is to verify side by side with some Mando audio files.
      Rock on.
      Btw the board in this thing is super thin if you are wanting to embed in your helmet. I’ll soon be dropping a short video on how to open it without breaking it.

    What do you suggest for the sound output? If we're tucking the microphone inside a mask, what do you think is a viable way of projecting as opposed to a big speaker? And can others hear it?

    • @creative-stuff
      @creative-stuff  20 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I use portable amplifiers. They can hang on your belt, hide under your gear or if you opt for realism you may well opt to find one with a small circuitboard, battery and speaker to mount inside your mask. Moukey VA-1s have been my go to but I’m the only reseller left of these and I’ve only one left in stock so my next best recommendation is the Norwii Mini amzn.to/3YpnIud For many applications it may well be superior to the Moukey, as it has a low profile battery. The speaker may or may not fit in your mask, if not I’d go for the largest Dayton Audio exciter you can fit - ideally “vented”.

    What do you consider to be the best option to change or modify the voice to male? (I am a man). I am looking for a tool to avoid telephone fraud, even if I have to change my voice to a female voice I would not hesitate to use it, but my first alternative is to only modify the male voice without noticing the artificial voice, strange echoes or robotics.

    • @creative-stuff
      @creative-stuff  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hmm, I reviewed quite a few voice changers, however looking for just a slightly different version of my own voice was not on my radar, so I don’t particularly remember, which might’ve been the best option for modifying a male voice to sound like a different male voice. My focus was, mostly the sound deeper like Darth Vader, Kylo Ren or Batman or something like that, or on the flip side which made a realistic transition to a female voice- so I just am not positive what would be the optimal solution. Off the cuff I think this one should be good but it’s subjective I suppose. If you check out my Voice Changer playlist, you can see which you think sounds best.
      There are some that I’ve tried out that had an electronic twang to them which, of course would disqualify them for use case but I note that to state all options are certainly not equal. the best I can recommend is listening to each of those reviews and deciding what works best for you. • @creative-stuff
      @creative-stuff  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I talk in my normal voice and sound like Mando, although I have a deeper voice, so it depends on your voice. With this thing if you want the Mando sound - use "DJ" with no echo, but it won't let you alter pitch on DJ. Although I think as long as you have something amplifying your voice you can pull off Mando, so if you need a pitch alteration you could just do that instead as an alternative.

      @creative-stuff  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Any personal voice amp should work. The exact one I used is no longer sold. what I normally build my masks with is a Moukey Va-1 because it’s board is crazy small - perfect for gutting & embedding in masks but it’s likely sold out on Walmart or Amazon. While I just bought a bunch in bulk - I’ may well be selling soon - but either way if you want something now - you can get something like a winbridge - amzn.to/3skaFgh its board is not the smallest but it’s the smallest board I’ve found since Moukey sold out from retailers. If you’re not looking to embed in a mask then any personal amp is fine.
      If you just want to talk from a mic to a speaker - I use the personal amps mic and plug into the MIC port on top & plug the i9’s TRRS 3.5mm cable into the headset port (out) and plug it into the personal amp’s mic in port (you can use its aux port but I like the extra boost from the mic ports preamp.)

      It’s possible you got a bum one, not sure. If you’ve run your mic into the MIC port and run the i9’s TRRS 3.5mm cable out to your personal voice amp - you should be golden . (You must use a trrs cable or you will hear nothing!). It should work on both an AUX or MIC input on your Voice amp but be a bit louder by running it through the MIC port as it’ll get a Pich more amplitude.
      If you’re connected they way mention and using one of the i9’s cables to connect to your personal amp & getting nothing - I would then try to swap out that i9.
      Most folks with issues connect to wrong ports or use a different cable.

      +@irenegomez3285 I put mic into MIC on the top and for the audio-out I use the HEADSET to send audio to my amp using the TRRS 3.5mm cable that came with i9.
      If using a phone -plug TRRS cable from phone to LIVE1 and put your Headset (combo mic/headphones into HEADSET.
      I don’t think it will work with AirPods given the input voice needs to go into the i9 which outputs through your phone.
      Only voices that input through the Mic or Headset jacks will have the voice changing performed.

      So below, I have the directions written. But essentially I connect a portable amplifier or an amplified speaker to the headset Jack on the bottom of the I-9. And I put my mic into the top “mic”port on the I-9. That will do exactly what you need For what you wanna do.
      I generally just use a personal amplifier, one, because I already have it, and two because it comes with a mic. And a mic does not typically come with the I-9.

      +luckyreplica sorry for the delay - i overlooked the question about the speaker…
      YES, you can use almost any speaker you like. They’ll work best when you align the ohms and watts to your amplifier’s. If you don’t know what that means don’t stress it, just use the speaker you want ( on these smaller amps it’s less of a concern).
      On the note of different speakers - I actually prefer to use an exciter instead of the full speaker that comes with the voice amps, given the exciter is lower profile, and gives better sound since it turns the whole helmet into a speaker.

      There is a 3.5mm audio out that can go to another device - I sent mine out to a personal amplifier. I believe the signal worked either on the aux input or the mic input, but was even louder on the mic input due to the additional preamp.
      If you send it to a portable speaker with its own built in amp it should be good. I don’t recall if I tried sending to out to just a plain speaker with no amp. It would probably work but not have much volume- I think it’s inherent amplification is likely only viable for headphones.

    it would be placed inside the costume and wouldn't be easy to access once the whole outfit was put on. i was planning to set a voice, and then just leave it on so i could walk around talking with that voice for a couple hours.

    • @creative-stuff

      The upside is that it picks back up on the last setting you used when you turn it back on, so that’s great.
      I don’t recall it ever turning off by itself. But then again, I didn’t leave it sit there knowingly, while it was still on; so I can’t say for sure.
      For the price it’s worth it. I’ve yet to find a better deal than this model for the price range. Most of those simple Halloween Voice Changer’s out there are about the same price and they’re garbage. The price you found is really good.
      What I have not done is taking this thing apart to see the innards - I imagine it has a Lipo battery, which if is the case, would then easily changed to a larger model, and even be swappable if it fails earlier than expected.

      [ edit a day after posting the second question: i took it to an electronics place, and they figured out that the cable that it came with was either non-functional, or wasn't compatible with the amp itself. either way, they tried a different cable with a different number of rings on the jack, and everything works now. i learned from them that the rings on those jack insert plug things actually have a meaning... like the number of rings on the jack itself actually mean something. i had no idea and never even noticed that they had different numbers of rings. ]
      [you can disregard the question since it was solved, but i'll leave it in case other people have this problem. i wanna say the voice changer and amp both came with a jack that had 3 rings, and the one they tried that ended up working had 2 rings on the jack. i'll have to double check later]
      so i just got it in the mail today, along with a portable amp speaker that i had hoped to plug it into.
      so both the voice changer and the speaker work on their own (i plugged some headphones into the voice changer and heard it working, same as the one in your video. then i unplugged the headset and used it to speak into the amplifier to see how loud it would be, and that worked), but when i use the included cable to try and have the changed voice coming through the amplifier so it's loud, it doesn't work. i'm not sure why the sound would come through on headphones, but not the amp... i'm gonna go by some local electronics stores tomorrow to see if any of them know why it's not working when i try to use them together. not sure if it's the cable, or the portable speaker not being compatible for some reason? if it works on headphones, i don't see why they wouldn't work with the amp. very confused and frustrated. i'm not great with electronics in general, but this seems like it ought to be working. i plugged the amp into the same slot where the headphones had been. the voice changer itself is pretty great. it's unsettling hearing a chick voice when i use that setting though. the DJ voice on mine doesn't sound like a Stormtrooper like the one in your video did, but i'm hoping that's because i was hearing it through headphones instead of a speaker.

      If you’re looking to use it in live mode, you can input to the headset jack with a splitter and have your mic go into the mic side and then have your headphones portion actually go out to an amplified speaker. If you choose that - it might result feedback depending on the speaker volume. But it’s possible.

    • @creative-stuff

      No can do. Bluetooth connections require at least one device to have an interface to setup the connection. Since there is not one on the i9 or likely on your speakers - it won’t work. The i9 can connect to phones, tablets, computers, etc. But can only connect directly to speakers via a wired method (thru a powered amplifier)

      +@starchild5184 it will if you have a 3.5mm Wireless receiver connected to the 3.5mm mic input, however I’m unsure it could connect directly to a wireless mic that doesn’t have a user interface. That said - since it will process music from a phone over BT it may also work if you use your phone as a mic when connected by BT.

    Could I do Ghostface?

    • @creative-stuff
      @creative-stuff  28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Ghostface-ish. What it can give you is a pitch change to a deeper voice, or a pinch of reverb. Mostly with Ghostface strikes me as doing a gravely voice, which you could theoretically do on your own. And it seems to cut off the higher and lower frequencies. The ideal voice changer would have resonance and distortion that are customizable, to give you a slightly tin/robotic hint and add imperfections to the quality. While the movie version does not actually seem to have reverb on the voice audio reverb does offer a synthetic feel which Is an alternative to consider if you don’t have the ability to cut off the highs and lows resonance & distortion.
      Alternatively, you could consider software based voice changers that go through your phone. However, I have looked at quite a few of those, and I am not impressed with the options. I found had one it called Ghostface, however it did not sound right and it slowed down the voice too much and sounded way too robotic.
      IDEAL: I’m sure a zoom multistomp would work great, but those are bulky and you’re looking at 100+ bucks for those.
      Not that it helps you right now but in the coming months, I’m looking into, using microcomputers like a ESP32 or Arduino as a customizable voice changer.

      The voice changer Bluetooth is always on, so on the source you want to connect to it- it will need to be something with an interface so you can ‘discover’ it via Bluetooth (e.g. phone, tablet, pc, etc.) - then select “I9” to connect.

      You need an Amplified Speaker. Portable Voice Amps are what most people use but you can use a portable Bluetooth speaker if it has a 3.5mm input. Then you’d need to also have a mic to input to the i9 unless you buy one that includes a mic.
