There was a time not that long ago when no one would put a kiss in a drama until episode 8. When manner of death came out, and Max and Tul kissed in episode 1, people were checking to make sure they were watching the right episode. Seriously.
26:18 Pran doesn't disagree with that 😂😂 Pat also always loves being around Pran but thinks it's just friendship. This is such an essential episode. From the first 2 episodes we didn't figure out who likes who but in this episode we learn that Pran is the one with the long-term crush on Pat. Pat is still not there yet, he sees him as a friend but Pran is the one who is in love. AHH I wished I could erase my memories and could rewatch this for the fist time like you. This is such a good show.

The actor (Jimmy) who plays Wai (Prans friend) is actually a doctor in real life. So lots of people, including the cast members from shows he is in, refer to him doctor Jimmy. The actor (Mark) who plays Pats friend (the one with the curly hair) was actually a badminton player when he was younger, and was so good that he was an internationally ranked Olympic hopeful in mixed doubles. After this show he started getting more and more acting roles, and at one point last year he was playing in three different shows that were all airing at the same time (Moonlight Chicken, My School President, and The Warp Effect)

Haha! According to the people who have worked with him, Jimmy is very nice guy irl. The director (P'Aof) of this show directed another show called Last Twilight, where Jimmy played the main character, and was super proud of himself that he got Jimmy to look like a believable bad boy/thug in that show.

Pran wants to keep Pat away because he remembers all too well what happened when he let him get close (he's the one who got transferred, after all). It's not like he thought it was Pat's fault, but their friend groups being enemies is just one more sign from the universe that they're not supposed to get along with each other and that interacting with each other will only lead to nothing but trouble. He wants to push Pat away so bad, but Pat doesn't make it easy, as he wants nothing more than being friends with him again, happy to have him again in his life even if it means having to put a little extra effort to keep him from leaving again. Being in love with him, Pran can't actually resist Pat too long, but he still tries his worst/best ):) Pat's intention was never to actually sell the guitar or to keep it for himself. There was no way to give it back to Pran and the school would have probably disposed of it at some point, especially after they graduated, or added it to the school instruments. Pat didn't want that to happen and, most likely, he wanted something that could remind him of Pran all to himself. The reason why he hasn't given Pran his guitar yet in the first two episodes is probably because he didn't feel comfortable enough yet, as it actually gives away a pretty vulnerable and corny side of him. He has probably been waiting for a moment where it felt like they were playing on equal ground. Pran almost knocking at his door to say thank you and then trying to have him over for dinner was a big step actually. *^* Also, 40.000 bath is around 1500 dollars. And yes Pat's the greenest green flag to ever greenflag.

Sorry this might be a long comment but this episode is packed full of moments The eating scene at the beginning when Pran was looking around He was most likely checking for anyone who might recognise that he and Pat are sat together having a normal chat (remember we know that they are friends soon to be more but no one else does) The chopsticks being the same length and the 3 wontons thing is actually relevant Pran is neuro divergent (according to the show it's OCD but you could argue that he could easily be portrayed as also being on the autistic spectrum as someone with autism he says and does very relatable things) Fabi: "They act like brothers" The audience: you are fastly approaching the moment you will definitely retract that statement When you got to the jump scare scene you correctly mentioned that Pat hasn't done anything wrong and that is true Unfortunately Pran is getting most of his information from wai who if you haven't guessed yet is a serial liar Think about the opening scene in episode 1 Wai told Pran it wasn't his fault when it actually was ( wai seems to be an antagonist and Pat had clearly had enough, but wai failed to mention that Pat told wai to get his friends so that the fight would be even) Pat believes in the fair fight system The lift scene is even funnier when you know that apparently the bit where Pat backs up into Prans crotch is unscripted Ohm just did it and Nanon found it funny ( the director apparently debated whether to keep it in and decided that it does seem like something Pat would do in a playful way) Get used to Pat sniffing Pran as it's a reoccurring thing Prans smell is pat's kink 😂 The bus stop scene straight after is also really important to pay attention to the language used Pat referring to Pran using female pronouns is a really important thing to point out and most importantly try to get rid of completely Pran is a man, Pat is also a man Let's not set the queer community back with hetero normative words Also in some cases a guy referring to his male partner as wife or girlfriend is demeaning as it could be seen as saying both men aren't equal to each other As well as connotations of man top women bottom in the bedroom department and that's not always the case People have probably already pointed out but Pat didn't steal Prans guitar Prans horrible mother made him leave his guitar behind

Words in one language may have direct analogs in other languages, but the baggage they carry with them can differ. That baggage tends to get lost in translation. For a native English speaker to refer to a gay couple using gendered heteronormative language (husband-wife) would demean a relationship between two men. To ask a lesbian couple which of them "is the man in the bedroom" exhibits the same insulting insensitivity. The subtitles in that scene tap into this sore spot for English-speaking gay folk who have spent decades fighting against the pervasive domestic stereotype that portrays gay men as effeminate and lesbians as butch. But the subtitles here arrived in English via Thai. And my understanding is that in Thai, these equivalent words do not convey the cultural stigma they do in English. "Wifey" in English is a seldom-heard diminutive of wife that in most contexts conveys condescension or highlights a perceived inferiority. In Thai, it is both more common and more playful. Endearing, even. That's before repurposing it for a same-sex couple, where the gendered stigmas operate differently in Thailand than in the West. Even the mincing around Pat performs in that tableau lands differently when filtered for Thai gender values. I certainly get the objection raised. When I first watched this scene in 2021, I found it insulting myself. But kind, thoughtful comments posted in reply to my my objections persuaded me it was less of an issue for Thai speakers. [Pause for hysterical laughter at "kind, thoughtful comments" in an internet discussion board.] But much as I may wish for "wifey" to disappear from dialog in BL series because that appellation is inconvenient in English translation, the objection itself smacks of Western cultural superiority insisting to a non-Western culture they should fix their language to align with current best practices in ours. So, pick your poison: advocate for non-heteronormative terms? Or, opt against cultural imperialism by letting "wifey"slide? In the meantime, Fabi can take all the information into account before deciding how to react to the language in that scene. Neutral example: aunt/uncle. In American English, we tend to reserve those terms for our parents' siblings and their spouses. Narrow application. My Filipino in-laws, however, deploy it much more broadly, including in its ambit adults of no particular blood relation whatsoever. Any family friend can be an auntie or an uncle. Same primary meaning, but subtextual baggage differs. Non-neutral examples: f** and queer. British English sometimes substitutes for "cigarette" a certain three-letter word beginning with f that this American gay boy has been so conditioned to find derogatory (deeply so) that I refuse even to spell it out. (In truth, I have doubts whether the platform's zealous censorship even allows that word. So, skipping it.) I am unsure whether my British gay colleagues would find the same level of insult in that term. In other words, the American slang word for gay men may carry more onerous cultural baggage than the same word in Britain. And we (supposedly) speak the same language. Similarly, when activists began to reclaim the word "queer" in the 1990s, younger cohorts embraced the new connotations more readily. Older queers resented hearing a word that had for their whole lives been a source of insult and pain suddenly emerge as some kind of positive. The baggage words carry change meanings. And that baggage shifts across language, across regions, across generations.
@johnmaster3748 With my ADHD and autism that reply was a lot I didn't read all of it but I tried and yes my dad's side of the family are dead so his childhood friends are the only family he has Friends who have been by my dad's side for over 40 years FAMILY IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT In the UK where I'm from neighbours you've known for most of your life becomes family Before I get on to the next bit as a queer person myself I just think it's unnecessary to hetero normalise couples of the same gender My issue is more to do with the fact that it's always directed at Pran And endearing or not that's irrelevant the point is Pran is the character who is well groomed and clean and takes real good care of himself Pat is rugged and sniffs his trousers before putting them on implying that Pat doesn't care if his trousers do need a wash ( if it smells clean or less gross then to Pat the trousers are clean enough) I was born just before 2000 and even back then the stereotype of the queer man Loves shopping Has girl besties Is always complimented on their hygiene As well as other outdated stereotypes So whether or not it has different meanings doesn't matter (as Pran points out in episode 9 he doesn't like it because even Pran sees it as outdated)
Pat is also the same guy who picked a fight with him over a middle finger and dragged it out for days and made it violent, also the same guy who laughed and did nothing while Wai was being bullied on his workplace. Please, the show does an excellent job of portraying flawed characters who grow and mature, the toxic alpha male persona is part of Pat's character. 'Fair fight system' shouldn't even be a thing as you should know better at 18yo than to raise hands on anyone, let alone for such silly reasons. Pat wasn't in the right either (neither was Wai), let's not try to paint them white and black. (Also, if your friends are any indicators of who you are as a person, Pat's friends aren't only way pettier and aggressive than Pran's, but they also catcalled Pran when they thought he was a girl in episode 2. No ill intentions, sure, but if any girl had actually been there that little shitshow would have scared the hell out of her.)

Product placements are the bane of Thai BL. A necessary evil in the Thai business model, but in most series they bring an episode's flow to a screeching halt. Then, there's Bad Buddy. While these product placements remain unavoidably jarring, the scriptwriter/director** of Bad Buddy excelled at using comedy, dialog, and the episode's internal logic to lessen the intrusiveness of the money-making spots. Inevitably, some of these moments remain clunky and unsubtle. But some rare few fit the characters (or the moment) so well the viewer fails to realize instantly a pitch is in progress. Case in point: the nearly _two_ full minutes from 12:30-14:20 when Pran fiddles with the stick of Black Inhaler. ("So refreshing.") Definitely, a product placement, that scene--but also a continuation of Pat's and Pran's innate competitiveness. In earlier episodes, you called out these spots. Not so, this one. That bit of blatant commercialism was somehow palatable. Speaking of palatable product placement, my personal favorite is the seaweed snack bit taggged to the end of ep 6. If we must endure these advertisements, _that_ is how to drop one in.

Sorry this might be a long comment but this episode is packed full of moments
The eating scene at the beginning when Pran was looking around
He was most likely checking for anyone who might recognise that he and Pat are sat together having a normal chat (remember we know that they are friends soon to be more but no one else does)
The chopsticks being the same length and the 3 wontons thing is actually relevant
Pran is neuro divergent (according to the show it's OCD but you could argue that he could easily be portrayed as also being on the autistic spectrum as someone with autism he says and does very relatable things)
Fabi: "They act like brothers"
The audience: you are fastly approaching the moment you will definitely retract that statement
When you got to the jump scare scene you correctly mentioned that Pat hasn't done anything wrong and that is true
Unfortunately Pran is getting most of his information from wai who if you haven't guessed yet is a serial liar
Think about the opening scene in episode 1
Wai told Pran it wasn't his fault when it actually was ( wai seems to be an antagonist and Pat had clearly had enough, but wai failed to mention that Pat told wai to get his friends so that the fight would be even)
Pat believes in the fair fight system
The lift scene is even funnier when you know that apparently the bit where Pat backs up into Prans crotch is unscripted
Ohm just did it and Nanon found it funny ( the director apparently debated whether to keep it in and decided that it does seem like something Pat would do in a playful way)
Get used to Pat sniffing Pran as it's a reoccurring thing

The bus stop scene straight after is also really important to pay attention to the language used
Pat referring to Pran using female pronouns is a really important thing to point out and most importantly try to get rid of completely
Pran is a man, Pat is also a man
Let's not set the queer community back with hetero normative words
Also in some cases a guy referring to his male partner as wife or girlfriend is demeaning as it could be seen as saying both men aren't equal to each other
As well as connotations of man top women bottom in the bedroom department and that's not always the case
People have probably already pointed out but Pat didn't steal Prans guitar Prans horrible mother made him leave his guitar behind

The language being used is...Thai. Words in one language may have direct analogs in other languages, but the baggage they carry with them can differ. That baggage tends to get lost in translation. For a native English speaker to refer to a gay couple using gendered heteronormative language (husband-wife) would demean a relationship between two men. To ask a lesbian couple which of them "is the man in the bedroom" exhibits the same insulting insensitivity. The subtitles in that scene tap into this sore spot for English-speaking gay folk who have spent decades fighting against the pervasive domestic stereotype that portrays gay men as effeminate and lesbians as butch. But the subtitles here arrived in English via Thai. And my understanding is that in Thai, these equivalent words do not convey the cultural stigma they do in English. "Wifey" in English is a seldom-heard diminutive of wife that in most contexts conveys condescension or highlights a perceived inferiority. In Thai, it is both more common and more playful. Endearing, even. That's before repurposing it for a same-sex couple, where the gendered stigmas operate differently in Thailand than in the West. Even the mincing around Pat performs in that tableau lands differently when filtered for Thai gender values.
I certainly get the objection raised. When I first watched this scene in 2021, I found it insulting myself. But kind, thoughtful comments posted in reply to my my objections persuaded me it was less of an issue for Thai speakers. [Pause for hysterical laughter at "kind, thoughtful comments" in an internet discussion board.] But much as I may wish for "wifey" to disappear from dialog in BL series because that appellation is inconvenient in English translation, the objection itself smacks of Western cultural superiority insisting to a non-Western culture they should fix their language to align with current best practices in ours.
So, pick your poison: advocate for non-heteronormative terms? Or, opt against cultural imperialism by letting "wifey"slide? In the meantime, Fabi can take all the information into account before deciding how to react to the language in that scene.
Neutral example: aunt/uncle. In American English, we tend to reserve those terms for our parents' siblings and their spouses. Narrow application. My Filipino in-laws, however, deploy it much more broadly, including in its ambit adults of no particular blood relation whatsoever. Any family friend can be an auntie or an uncle. Same primary meaning, but subtextual baggage differs.
Non-neutral examples: f** and queer. British English sometimes substitutes for "cigarette" a certain three-letter word beginning with f that this American gay boy has been so conditioned to find derogatory (deeply so) that I refuse even to spell it out. (In truth, I have doubts whether the platform's zealous censorship even allows that word. So, skipping it.) I am unsure whether my British gay colleagues would find the same level of insult in that term. In other words, the American slang word for gay men may carry more onerous cultural baggage than the same word in Britain. And we (supposedly) speak the same language. Similarly, when activists began to reclaim the word "queer" in the 1990s, younger cohorts embraced the new connotations more readily. Older queers resented hearing a word that had for their whole lives been a source of insult and pain suddenly emerge as some kind of positive. The baggage words carry change meanings. And that baggage shifts across language, across regions, across generations.

I just think it's unnecessary to hetero normalise couples of the same gender
My issue is more to do with the fact that it's always directed at Pran
And endearing or not
that's irrelevant
the point is
Pran is the character who is well groomed and clean and takes real good care of himself
Pat is rugged and sniffs his trousers before putting them on implying that Pat doesn't care if his trousers do need a wash ( if it smells clean or less gross then to Pat the trousers are clean enough)
I was born just before 2000 and even back then the stereotype of the queer man
Loves shopping
Has girl besties
Is always complimented on their hygiene
As well as other outdated stereotypes
So whether or not it has different meanings doesn't matter (as Pran points out in episode 9 he doesn't like it because even Pran sees it as outdated)
Pat is also the same guy who picked a fight with him over a middle finger and dragged it out for days and made it violent, also the same guy who laughed and did nothing while Wai was being bullied on his workplace. Please, the show does an excellent job of portraying flawed characters who grow and mature, the toxic alpha male persona is part of Pat's character. 'Fair fight system' shouldn't even be a thing as you should know better at 18yo than to raise hands on anyone, let alone for such silly reasons. Pat wasn't in the right either (neither was Wai), let's not try to paint them white and black.
(Also, if your friends are any indicators of who you are as a person, Pat's friends aren't only way pettier and aggressive than Pran's, but they also catcalled Pran when they thought he was a girl in episode 2. No ill intentions, sure, but if any girl had actually been there that little shitshow would have scared the hell out of her.)

But as for the fights wai started most of the fights if not all of them
Even the Pope would eventually snap if someone kept doing small and annoying things repeatedly over time

Product placements are the bane of Thai BL. A necessary evil in the Thai business model, but in most series they bring an episode's flow to a screeching halt. Then, there's Bad Buddy. While these product placements remain unavoidably jarring, the scriptwriter/director** of Bad Buddy excelled at using comedy, dialog, and the episode's internal logic to lessen the intrusiveness of the money-making spots. Inevitably, some of these moments remain clunky and unsubtle. But some rare few fit the characters (or the moment) so well the viewer fails to realize instantly a pitch is in progress. Case in point: the nearly _two_ full minutes from 12:30-14:20 when Pran fiddles with the stick of Black Inhaler. ("So refreshing.") Definitely, a product placement, that scene--but also a continuation of Pat's and Pran's innate competitiveness. In earlier episodes, you called out these spots. Not so, this one. That bit of blatant commercialism was somehow palatable.
Speaking of palatable product placement, my personal favorite is the seaweed snack bit taggged to the end of ep 6. If we must endure these advertisements, _that_ is how to drop one in.
**--when I wrote this comment, I completely forgot that the director cameos in this very episode. That is him playing the proprietor of the music shop at the mall. 32:00.
