Nanon(Pran) is a method actor and he really gets into the character that he plays, so much so that us as audience feel his emotions channeling in us 😭 He's my favourite actor!!
pran has been aware of his feelings for pat since early on. he was maybe battling same-sex attraction and unrequited love towards someone he had to always compete against. these two were essentially conditioned to hate each other by their families. pat, on the other hand, grew up with a very traditional family. rugby, girls, and dominance is what was expected of him by his father. so, even though he clearly had feelings for pran at some point, they remained in his subconscious as he thought he was straight but he could not go against how he feels for pran as well. this is his journey to realizing those feelings while pran has been suffering alone for a while now.
For Pran jealousy is something that is always be there when it comes to Pat. He is used to love him silently while Pat openly flirted with others. Ink is his weak point because it was Pat's longest crush. This is such a good episode. Episodes like this one makes Bad Buddy that great. It's get better with episode from now on.
I remember the first time I watched this episode, I was shocked by the fact that all the things Pat did for Pran, it turns out he's just being nice to Pran. Not only Pran was misleading by Pat's behavior but me too. So I cried so hard in the end of this episode like I was in Pran's position 🥲
@@julyapm0701 that’s really not it though - pat was just unaware of his feelings but the things he did to or for pran were genuine and out of love, he just never considered he could have romantic feelings for him so he did eventually end up “misleading” him. that’s why the kiss scene is so painful for pran but relieving for pat.

For Pran, hearing those words bluntly and directly from his long-time crush is truly painful. Knowing you can’t have, hold, or be loved by that person, yet still being unable to move on after so long, is heartbreaking. Pran never wished to find someone else-he only ever wanted Pat. He doesn’t need someone half as good as Pat, because to him, Pat is already perfect. That’s exactly why he wanted him so badly. I know some might say that the BBS series isn’t that deep, that it’s simple and straightforward. But if you really understand the deeper meaning behind the words and actions, it’s absolutely phenomenal. I believe that those who don’t connect with the series have probably never experienced such deep, unrequited love. Because, trust me, when you’re deeply in love with someone you can’t have, you try everything to move on. You might even try being with someone else. But no matter what, you always feel stuck on that one person. It’s a depressing, endless cycle.

Ink has such a natural beauty. Every scene with her are just on point. And being Bad Buddy her first role, this is unexpected. Episode 5 is approaching ... brace yourself.
that last scene always break my heart. and there's some interesting things about it that i love. first, all the flashbacks have this dull color going on. but that flashback from pran's memory, they are always bathed in a golden light. that's how he sees pat. and pat asked if pran would like him because pat knows/believes pran likes men too. remember when they didn't know they lived in the same building and met in the rooftop, pat thought it was a girl, but pran knew it was a guy (because of the pronoun). pat even makes a comment saying "we know why i'm here, but why are YOU here?" and pran didn't even denied it. also, pat don't make any flirting jokes to any of his friends (because they are all straight), but he keeps flirting with pran. honestly, i believe he thinks it's just a joke, but that's pretty much his subconscious taking the wheel.
If you're wondering why did Ink call "Pran" as "Pan", it's because Thai people tend to skip some letters when pronouncing stuff and the most skipped ones are letter L and R, though it's still obviously correct if you pronounce it with the R. Some letters are also pronounced differently if they're the final consonants, for example R/L = N, Pran's first name is spelled as Parakul, but pronounced as Parakun. A lot of Thai people also use random English words as their nick names, so don't be surprised if you see unique names such as Milk, Bible, Donut, Cake, Film, etc.
They really do seem like random English words. "Barcode" is a really odd choice for a name. But it is English. He should have scanned the dictionary for something less generic.
It's not so much that they skip letters, more that it's tricky to translate the Thai alphabet, rules, and pronunciations into english spelling and pronunciation. Definitely a learning curve as we learn new languages and culture. I've heard people pronounce Thailand as "Thigh-land", not knowing that the H is asperated. It's common to mispronounce the name of popular actor Tul, if you don't know it sounds more like "Toon", because the rule of L as the final consonant, like you said.
@@TiaTruly They do skip letters a lot, you will notice it if you can read Aksorn Thai and based on the answers I heard from the Thais, it's because they're lazy to pronounce the proper words, so skipping these in-between consonants helps them to say the words faster. Basic examples are the word "jring" (real) which is usually pronounced as "jing" and the male particle "krab" that's often pronounced as "kab".

I feel bad for both of them here because Pran loves Pat and keeps pushing him away and Pat doesn’t know what’s happening because he’s an oblivious bi-boy crushing on two people at the same time.
Pat is definitely that oblivious, I always saw it that he just happy that he can be friends/acquaintances with Pran because deep down he doesn’t want to hate Pran. Of course though, he doesn’t question why things are the way they are between his parents and Pran’s parents. So with him being happy he can be like this with Pran on this on the DL, this is how he acts with him. However, I do understand why people would think Pat does like Pran or question it since he is flirty. That’s just his personality, I feel like he is like that with whoever he is comfortable with. He very much does give golden retriever vibes. Pran has very much known his feelings for Pat very early on. He knows why he likes Pat, so when Pat asks him how he can he not like him and listing many of the things he has done for him…that’s why. Pran knows these things in why he likes him, those just made his love grow stronger which doesn’t help when he sees the guy he likes, like someone else (a girl). It was the same like that in high school based on the flashbacks we got of them in high school this episode. I always think of Love You in The Dark by Adele when I think of them (mostly Pran’s pov)😭. I also very much remember how angry I got when Korn, the guy who attacked Pran while playing rugby, did that when Pat was trying his best to protect Pran since his shoulder got hurt 😤 he pissed me of there 😒. Interesting fact too: you can say Pran with the r sound. It’s just in Thailand, when a word or name has a r in it…the r sound usually turns into a l sound or it’s silent. Therefore, that’s why it sounds like they say Pan instead of Pran but many BL fans who are international call him Pran with the r sound :) hope that helps! 🫶🏼
Just wanted to let you know if you ever want to cry or just want to feel whatever you need to when watching hard-hitting scenes, you can absolutely do that. I consider myself to be a person who will cry if I see a character cry, or something that makes me shed happy tears. I have definitely experienced that many times in my BL journey, so it’s okay if you do too 🫶🏼. I haven’t rewatched this BL in a minute so rewatching this episode especially in the last scene has definitely have me shedding some tears so we are going through it together 😭

When you dive into the world of thai BL there is no turning back, almost all the series are a gem, in most cases GMMTV (the company that launched Bad Buddy) has too many good BL series, which I hope you react to in the future after finishing Bad Buddy. P.S.: When I saw this episode in 2021 it broke my heart so much, I think I rewatch it every so often and I still can't believe Pat's words "We'll see if you can find someone half as good as me" are still on my mind every day.
Historical Note. In 2021, Episode 5 aired on the Friday after Thanksgiving (for US viewers). I was at my mother's, having arrived there late the night before. Rather than sleep in, I got out of bed at 8:30 am to watch the episode as it premiered. That was 5:30 to my body clock; so, I ought to have preferred sleep. The way Ep 4 ended had left me anticipating the next one for a full week. Do I recall these events so vividly because the holiday travel made this particular morning different than watching a series at home? Because that was the first time I'd seen my mother in two years thanks to Covid? Well, yes and yes. But mostly these details remain fixed in my mind because episode 5 turned out to be...Episode 5. Legendary.

Just in case anyone hasn’t reccomended it yet, Sotus is also a really good BL, a cult classic (when it comes to Thai BL) if you will. It’s in my top 3 along with Bad Buddy and Semantic Error :D

I'm not from Thailand but also an engineering graduate and we had initiations also and seniors signing and beach (like what happened there also happened to us). It's close to my heart because I can relate to it so the whole Sotus universe is my top 1 BL of all time.

Yay Ink is finally here!!!! A not so fun fact of the day is that, in the earlier days of BL female characters were almost exclusively only there to be the b*tchy villains getting in between the two main male leads, so Ink was a breath of fresh air when this show aired. You also briefly mentioned that people ship the two main actors in real life, so I thought I would explain a bit about shipping culture in the Thai BL world. Once again, in the earlier days of Thai (and unfortunately sometimes still now), the actors who played the main pair in a show would be contractually obliged to fanservice. If you don't know what fanservice is, its basically playing up the irl relationship of the actors for the fans. Fanservice is normally harmless, if you know, fans don't go crazy. One of the biggest incidents involved the main actors (Mew and Gulf) from the show TharnType. The fanservice the actors were required to do was so over the top that the actors were even made to hold a fake wedding as an event. This created the most absolutely rabid fanbase, who were beyond convinced that these two actors were definitely dating. The actors were harassed online, stalked, etc, all so these fans could find "proof" that they were together. So when the show was over, and by proxy the contracts, the actors basically stopped hanging out completely, because they were only ever co-workers, and because they were sick of being harassed. The fall out was insane! Unfortunately one actor in the pairing (Mew) ended up getting the brunt of the hate. He was called every insult under the sun, and called a "queer-baiter" by thousands of toxic fans (mind you as of last month he is literally engaged to another man). (I should also mention this is only half the drama, the other half involves the company that made them do the fanservice, MeMindY) Nowadays, partly thanks to that incident, fanservice is much more toned down, and most actors can choose not to engage in it at all. However that hasn't stopped fans from becoming absolutely rabid about thinking two actors are dating, which is what happened with the actors in this show. Another unfortunate side effect of that incident is some fans thinking absolutely everything is fanservice. Their have been multiple pairings in the industry who are either best friends, or in a romantic relationship, who are constantly accused of doing fanservice. It has gotten to the point that recently an actor has openly admitted to posting less of with his partner because every time he does he is accused of doing it for views. Anyway, to summarize, some fans like ship just for fun, while other fans take it wayyyyy to far and ruin the fun for all parties involved.

28:31 "Paan or Pran" -- In casual standard Thai, the 'r' sound is often softened to 'l' or omitted entirely -- you can hear it in other words, too, sometimes. Some characters/actors do pronounce it (it's very clear when Pran's mum says his name), but not every Thai person can even *produce* the rolled R, so fully enunciated 'r' is mostly news speak, teacher speak, a way to appear educated, or used for fun.
Ahhh, this episode!!! It's really one of my favorites, I think only episode 5 and 11 were able to top it. It was so nice rewatching it again with you, I love your reactions ♥ I also really liked it when you said 'I wanna know, sometimes, what he's thinking', referred to Pran, because one of the things I enjoyed the most about this show was the heavy use of 'show, don't tell', and the fact that they didn't spell out every single thoughts that's running through the characters' minds, making them more complex and putting some extra layers to their characterization. Of course, it's still a silly romcom, and the plot is pretty basic, but I think that both Pat and Pran are extremely well written and played and it's nice that people who are only now discovering the show and watching it for the first time can notice stuff like that *^* I think the ending of this episode is truly genius because they made Pat say the most hurtful things to Pran, genuinely phrasing them in the most devastating way possible, all the while Pat IS NOT aware of what he's doing. He would never, for the life of him, act the way he does if he knew he's hurting Pran's feelings and leading him on in the process. But oh well.

52:15 "I don't like this. I do not like this!" Should I ever have occasion to compile a list of Most Brilliant BL Scenes, these closing moments of ep 4 would be included. By Brilliant Scene, I have in mind scenes that reward viewers for their patience by paying off plot points and character arcs that have been building for multiple episodes. The Brilliant ones stand out not only for resolving story points but also for such traits as writing, acting, camerawork and emotional resonance. They are a credit to the director, and a treat for the viewer. You could show the scene,, out of context,, to anyone,, and it would still work. Those traits define Brilliant Scene, and I think this scene has all those things. With this scene, Bad Buddy began the process of resolving the story and character arcs seeded during episodes 1-4. For a BL series that still had eight episodes remaining to deliver such payoffs in e 4 felt really early. Most prior BL series at that time dragged out the will they/won't they aspects of their plot for the whole run. So, off the bat, the timing for this scene felt different. More importantly, it felt realistic. Two people who have known one another a lifetime. With a complicated history. Unable to be open with another. The dialog is on point, and the acting excels. But the scene derives its power from what is left unspoken between Pat and Pran. And that painful silence rewards viewers who have paid close attention. The viewer, by inference really, fills in the blanks from watching Pran react to Pat's "'relief" that Pran has no interest in Ink. I thought that was Nanon's finest acting in the whole series. Wounded pain, suffering in silence, is the toll any of us pay for harboring a secret crush, and Nanon plays this moment so well any of us (who have been there) can relate. Pat is oblivious to the crush, but he routinely notices whenever Pran is in distress. From his vantage lying on the floor, however, Pat misses the emotions that Pran cannot conceal. That crush, normally hidden away, is so apparent on Pran's face. All of this has been hinted at for four episodes,, but here it emerges as plain as day. The topper is when the teary-eyed Pran snatches back the blanket--a nod to the ongoing (humorous) pettiness that has structured our heroes' interactions for years.
My Opinion: In this episode, we learn that Pat likes Ink, but Pran doesn’t. Earlier at the restaurant, Pat saw Ink leaning against Pran while they were talking. When Ink found out that Pat and Pran were going to compete in a rugby match, she joked that she didn’t know who to support. This made Pat start wondering if Pran might have feelings for Ink too, which left him feeling uncertain. That night, Pat went to Pran’s room, pretending he had forgotten his key and asking if he could stay over. I think Pat was trying to have a late-night chat with Pran to figure out if Pran liked Ink, but Pran didn’t let him stay. The next day, Pat noticed Ink giving Pran the same bracelet she had given him earlier. This made it seem like Ink might like Pran as well. Since Pat and Pran are always competing over everything, this added to Pat’s unease-especially because he liked Ink. Later that night, Pat actually forgot his key, and this time, Pran let him stay in his room. During their conversation, Pat finally asked Pran if he liked Ink. When Pran said no, Pat sighed with relief and said, “What a relief.” I think Pat felt relieved because he was ready to sacrifice his feelings for Ink if Pran liked her. This shows how much Pat is willing to prioritize Pran’s happiness, something he has been doing ever since Pran saved Pa. For example, Pat cut his own student ID to make a guitar pick for Pran-another subtle gesture of how much he values Pran. One more detail the English subtitles might have missed is when Pran said to Pat, "Someone like you? What's there to like?" In Thai, Pat responded by mentioning that he had helped by being the drummer for Pran. I interpret this as Pat stepping in to play the drums so Pran could fulfill his role as the guitarist and singer for the Christmas event.
The other element here is that Pat is very happy with his secret friendship with Pran at this point, and doesn't want to mess it up. He was legit stressing about the possibility that Pran liked Ink too because *he doesn't want to compete with Pran over her* and possibly hurt him. His big "I'm so relieved" there was genuine - relief at, from his perspective, not having to risk hurting Pran's feelings. Then Pran turns around with a hurtful "I hate you" just as Pat thinks they're getting even closer as friends (because he's a dumbass who acts from his instincts instead of thinking/analyzing like Pran does).
Have u already watched "he's coming to me"? It's another bl that Pawat, the actor that plays pat in this series, is part of the cast. It's been my favorite BL since it was released, it's very good.
Oh I love that series so much! It's from the same director so it has quality gay representation shown on screen. Plus excellent actors. I cry every time I rewatch it!

24:38 "extremely jealous" Disagree that we see Jealous Pran there. I mean, yes, for Pran, the jealousy is omnipresent. But kind of low-key. He lives with it every day, but mosly suppresses it. In that moment of supreme irritation, I think jealousy was the least of his swirling emotions. More immediate: irritation that Pat ditched his responsibility for the project (again); that Korn lied to him about the family calling him away. Pran has repeatedly shown suspicion that he is being played for a fool, and that social media post plays into that paranoia.

Nanon (Pran) has very expressive eyes. His eyes say a lot even without him saying anything.
If you're wondering why did Ink call "Pran" as "Pan", it's because Thai people tend to skip some letters when pronouncing stuff and the most skipped ones are letter L and R, though it's still obviously correct if you pronounce it with the R. Some letters are also pronounced differently if they're the final consonants, for example R/L = N, Pran's first name is spelled as Parakul, but pronounced as Parakun. A lot of Thai people also use random English words as their nick names, so don't be surprised if you see unique names such as Milk, Bible, Donut, Cake, Film, etc.
They really do seem like random English words. "Barcode" is a really odd choice for a name. But it is English. He should have scanned the dictionary for something less generic.
It's not so much that they skip letters, more that it's tricky to translate the Thai alphabet, rules, and pronunciations into english spelling and pronunciation. Definitely a learning curve as we learn new languages and culture.
I've heard people pronounce Thailand as "Thigh-land", not knowing that the H is asperated. It's common to mispronounce the name of popular actor Tul, if you don't know it sounds more like "Toon", because the rule of L as the final consonant, like you said.
@@TiaTruly They do skip letters a lot, you will notice it if you can read Aksorn Thai and based on the answers I heard from the Thais, it's because they're lazy to pronounce the proper words, so skipping these in-between consonants helps them to say the words faster. Basic examples are the word "jring" (real) which is usually pronounced as "jing" and the male particle "krab" that's often pronounced as "kab".

Pat is definitely that oblivious, I always saw it that he just happy that he can be friends/acquaintances with Pran because deep down he doesn’t want to hate Pran. Of course though, he doesn’t question why things are the way they are between his parents and Pran’s parents. So with him being happy he can be like this with Pran on this on the DL, this is how he acts with him. However, I do understand why people would think Pat does like Pran or question it since he is flirty. That’s just his personality, I feel like he is like that with whoever he is comfortable with. He very much does give golden retriever vibes. Pran has very much known his feelings for Pat very early on. He knows why he likes Pat, so when Pat asks him how he can he not like him and listing many of the things he has done for him…that’s why. Pran knows these things in why he likes him, those just made his love grow stronger which doesn’t help when he sees the guy he likes, like someone else (a girl). It was the same like that in high school based on the flashbacks we got of them in high school this episode. I always think of Love You in The Dark by Adele when I think of them (mostly Pran’s pov)😭. I also very much remember how angry I got when Korn, the guy who attacked Pran while playing rugby, did that when Pat was trying his best to protect Pran since his shoulder got hurt 😤 he pissed me of there 😒. Interesting fact too: you can say Pran with the r sound. It’s just in Thailand, when a word or name has a r in it…the r sound usually turns into a l sound or it’s silent. Therefore, that’s why it sounds like they say Pan instead of Pran but many BL fans who are international call him Pran with the r sound :) hope that helps! 🫶🏼

Just wanted to let you know if you ever want to cry or just want to feel whatever you need to when watching hard-hitting scenes, you can absolutely do that. I consider myself to be a person who will cry if I see a character cry, or something that makes me shed happy tears. I have definitely experienced that many times in my BL journey, so it’s okay if you do too 🫶🏼. I haven’t rewatched this BL in a minute so rewatching this episode especially in the last scene has definitely have me shedding some tears so we are going through it together 😭

Historical Note. In 2021, Episode 5 aired on the Friday after Thanksgiving (for US viewers). I was at my mother's, having arrived there late the night before. Rather than sleep in, I got out of bed at 8:30 am to watch the episode as it premiered. That was 5:30 to my body clock; so, I ought to have preferred sleep. The way Ep 4 ended had left me anticipating the next one for a full week. Do I recall these events so vividly because the holiday travel made this particular morning different than watching a series at home? Because that was the first time I'd seen my mother in two years thanks to Covid? Well, yes and yes. But mostly these details remain fixed in my mind because episode 5 turned out to be...Episode 5. Legendary.

Just in case anyone hasn’t reccomended it yet, Sotus is also a really good BL, a cult classic (when it comes to Thai BL) if you will. It’s in my top 3 along with Bad Buddy and Semantic Error :D

I'm not from Thailand but also an engineering graduate and we had initiations also and seniors signing and beach (like what happened there also happened to us). It's close to my heart because I can relate to it so the whole Sotus universe is my top 1 BL of all time.

Yay Ink is finally here!!!! A not so fun fact of the day is that, in the earlier days of BL female characters were almost exclusively only there to be the b*tchy villains getting in between the two main male leads, so Ink was a breath of fresh air when this show aired.
You also briefly mentioned that people ship the two main actors in real life, so I thought I would explain a bit about shipping culture in the Thai BL world. Once again, in the earlier days of Thai (and unfortunately sometimes still now), the actors who played the main pair in a show would be contractually obliged to fanservice. If you don't know what fanservice is, its basically playing up the irl relationship of the actors for the fans. Fanservice is normally harmless, if you know, fans don't go crazy. One of the biggest incidents involved the main actors (Mew and Gulf) from the show TharnType. The fanservice the actors were required to do was so over the top that the actors were even made to hold a fake wedding as an event. This created the most absolutely rabid fanbase, who were beyond convinced that these two actors were definitely dating. The actors were harassed online, stalked, etc, all so these fans could find "proof" that they were together. So when the show was over, and by proxy the contracts, the actors basically stopped hanging out completely, because they were only ever co-workers, and because they were sick of being harassed. The fall out was insane! Unfortunately one actor in the pairing (Mew) ended up getting the brunt of the hate. He was called every insult under the sun, and called a "queer-baiter" by thousands of toxic fans (mind you as of last month he is literally engaged to another man). (I should also mention this is only half the drama, the other half involves the company that made them do the fanservice, MeMindY) Nowadays, partly thanks to that incident, fanservice is much more toned down, and most actors can choose not to engage in it at all. However that hasn't stopped fans from becoming absolutely rabid about thinking two actors are dating, which is what happened with the actors in this show. Another unfortunate side effect of that incident is some fans thinking absolutely everything is fanservice. Their have been multiple pairings in the industry who are either best friends, or in a romantic relationship, who are constantly accused of doing fanservice. It has gotten to the point that recently an actor has openly admitted to posting less of with his partner because every time he does he is accused of doing it for views. Anyway, to summarize, some fans like ship just for fun, while other fans take it wayyyyy to far and ruin the fun for all parties involved.
I love that they created a character like her! And it sucks that some fans go a bit crazy, I did not know the Fanservice.. it sound a bit scary 😟

28:31 "Paan or Pran" -- In casual standard Thai, the 'r' sound is often softened to 'l' or omitted entirely -- you can hear it in other words, too, sometimes. Some characters/actors do pronounce it (it's very clear when Pran's mum says his name), but not every Thai person can even *produce* the rolled R, so fully enunciated 'r' is mostly news speak, teacher speak, a way to appear educated, or used for fun.

Ahhh, this episode!!! It's really one of my favorites, I think only episode 5 and 11 were able to top it. It was so nice rewatching it again with you, I love your reactions ♥
I also really liked it when you said 'I wanna know, sometimes, what he's thinking', referred to Pran, because one of the things I enjoyed the most about this show was the heavy use of 'show, don't tell', and the fact that they didn't spell out every single thoughts that's running through the characters' minds, making them more complex and putting some extra layers to their characterization. Of course, it's still a silly romcom, and the plot is pretty basic, but I think that both Pat and Pran are extremely well written and played and it's nice that people who are only now discovering the show and watching it for the first time can notice stuff like that *^*
I think the ending of this episode is truly genius because they made Pat say the most hurtful things to Pran, genuinely phrasing them in the most devastating way possible, all the while Pat IS NOT aware of what he's doing. He would never, for the life of him, act the way he does if he knew he's hurting Pran's feelings and leading him on in the process. But oh well.

Should I ever have occasion to compile a list of Most Brilliant BL Scenes, these closing moments of ep 4 would be included. By Brilliant Scene, I have in mind scenes that reward viewers for their patience by paying off plot points and character arcs that have been building for multiple episodes. The Brilliant ones stand out not only for resolving story points but also for such traits as writing, acting, camerawork and emotional resonance. They are a credit to the director, and a treat for the viewer. You could show the scene,, out of context,, to anyone,, and it would still work. Those traits define Brilliant Scene, and I think this scene has all those things.
With this scene, Bad Buddy began the process of resolving the story and character arcs seeded during episodes 1-4. For a BL series that still had eight episodes remaining to deliver such payoffs in e 4 felt really early. Most prior BL series at that time dragged out the will they/won't they aspects of their plot for the whole run. So, off the bat, the timing for this scene felt different. More importantly, it felt realistic.
Two people who have known one another a lifetime. With a complicated history. Unable to be open with another. The dialog is on point, and the acting excels. But the scene derives its power from what is left unspoken between Pat and Pran. And that painful silence rewards viewers who have paid close attention. The viewer, by inference really, fills in the blanks from watching Pran react to Pat's "'relief" that Pran has no interest in Ink. I thought that was Nanon's finest acting in the whole series. Wounded pain, suffering in silence, is the toll any of us pay for harboring a secret crush, and Nanon plays this moment so well any of us (who have been there) can relate. Pat is oblivious to the crush, but he routinely notices whenever Pran is in distress. From his vantage lying on the floor, however, Pat misses the emotions that Pran cannot conceal. That crush, normally hidden away, is so apparent on Pran's face. All of this has been hinted at for four episodes,, but here it emerges as plain as day. The topper is when the teary-eyed Pran snatches back the blanket--a nod to the ongoing (humorous) pettiness that has structured our heroes' interactions for years.
Get ready for the Iconic EP 5. iykyk

My Opinion:
In this episode, we learn that Pat likes Ink, but Pran doesn’t. Earlier at the restaurant, Pat saw Ink leaning against Pran while they were talking. When Ink found out that Pat and Pran were going to compete in a rugby match, she joked that she didn’t know who to support. This made Pat start wondering if Pran might have feelings for Ink too, which left him feeling uncertain.
That night, Pat went to Pran’s room, pretending he had forgotten his key and asking if he could stay over. I think Pat was trying to have a late-night chat with Pran to figure out if Pran liked Ink, but Pran didn’t let him stay.
The next day, Pat noticed Ink giving Pran the same bracelet she had given him earlier. This made it seem like Ink might like Pran as well. Since Pat and Pran are always competing over everything, this added to Pat’s unease-especially because he liked Ink.
Later that night, Pat actually forgot his key, and this time, Pran let him stay in his room. During their conversation, Pat finally asked Pran if he liked Ink. When Pran said no, Pat sighed with relief and said, “What a relief.” I think Pat felt relieved because he was ready to sacrifice his feelings for Ink if Pran liked her. This shows how much Pat is willing to prioritize Pran’s happiness, something he has been doing ever since Pran saved Pa. For example, Pat cut his own student ID to make a guitar pick for Pran-another subtle gesture of how much he values Pran.
One more detail the English subtitles might have missed is when Pran said to Pat, "Someone like you? What's there to like?" In Thai, Pat responded by mentioning that he had helped by being the drummer for Pran. I interpret this as Pat stepping in to play the drums so Pran could fulfill his role as the guitarist and singer for the Christmas event.
The other element here is that Pat is very happy with his secret friendship with Pran at this point, and doesn't want to mess it up. He was legit stressing about the possibility that Pran liked Ink too because *he doesn't want to compete with Pran over her* and possibly hurt him. His big "I'm so relieved" there was genuine - relief at, from his perspective, not having to risk hurting Pran's feelings. Then Pran turns around with a hurtful "I hate you" just as Pat thinks they're getting even closer as friends (because he's a dumbass who acts from his instincts instead of thinking/analyzing like Pran does).

Disagree that we see Jealous Pran there. I mean, yes, for Pran, the jealousy is omnipresent. But kind of low-key. He lives with it every day, but mosly suppresses it. In that moment of supreme irritation, I think jealousy was the least of his swirling emotions. More immediate: irritation that Pat ditched his responsibility for the project (again); that Korn lied to him about the family calling him away. Pran has repeatedly shown suspicion that he is being played for a fool, and that social media post plays into that paranoia.
So today ( Thanksgiving) I am giving thanks for a new episode reaction to Bad Buddy to watch while the turkey roasts.
