In actuality you are always playing against the house no matter whether you play the Pass Line or the Don't Pass. If you win your bet the house pays you and if you lose the house collects your bet. You're not playing with or against other players at the table.

The pass/come bet is NOT a good bet. You only have eight ways ( 22.2%) to win with four ways (11.1%) ways to lose and twenty-four ways (66.6%) that a point will be rolled.
