thank you for this review, was very useful, ive bought a mega drive and needed an adapter and i thought this was the best one and double checked. thanks a million :)
Get a GBS control upscaler, great upscaler and very little lag on it. Get some good RGB Scart and the way you go. Most of my footage on my channel is captured with my GBS control upscaler. Great video tho. Kaico hdmi adapters are pretty good used to use them a lot.
Hi my friend! I also have the scan lines in RGB mode... Do you also have signal loss when moving the connector? Its so loose! The blue line is solved by updating the firmware and readjusting the screen position. Best regards!
I recently got one of these HDMI converters and I seem to be having trouble with mine, all I’m getting is a blank screen for my Roku TV and I’m getting this buzzing noise, I’m not sure if it’s that I’m putting in the wrong settings on the converter itself cause I’m trying to test it out with Tazmania on my mega drive. Can you let me know what settings it should be on cheers and great video
It really can be a tempremental device. I've had times when it simply refuses to work, other times it looks great. You have to make sure the HDMI port is secure because it can be a really loose connection. If I nudge it then I'll often loose picture. That's probably the most likely reason why you're not getting an image on your telly. Once you do get a picture then you press the button and cycle through the options until you find the one you like the most. I've used it quite a lot, but I do get frustrated with it.
Liked and subbed, thanks for shining some light on this little device. I got one as well, using it on a 1st gen Mega Drive rev 2 (the one without the ext port) in combination with an LG C3 65 inch. Have you noticed the colors being off in rgb 2x mode? Mine looks really washed out, but I like that it doesn't add a lot of noticeable lag. Have you tried a rad2x or retrotink 2x for comparison?
Hi, thanks for the comments. Yeah, it’s good but with caveats. It’s so far doing the job that I wanted it to do, which was namely allow me to use one device to play both my Gen 1 MegaDrive and Saturn through my LG OLED TV at an acceptable performance level. It does that, but it’s not without issues. It can be very belligerent at times. 90% of the time it works fine, and then occasionally it’ll just go “nah, this time I’m not interested”. A game that worked yesterday won’t look the same today. I can cycle through the settings and not find one that’s right, yet yesterday I was happy. And the connection, as I mentioned in the video, is a bit ropey. If it’s not in the right place the connection will get lost. I’ve had connection drop-outs during gameplay when it’s just sat there not moving. It’s frustrating, but at the same time I’m giving it some slack because it is at least allowing me to do what I want most of the time. I’ve considered the other products you mentioned, but never used them. The Rad2X are a similar product at a similar price point, but you need two different cables for MegaDrive and Saturn. That was why I went with the Kaico on this occasion. The Retrotink 2x, and the 5x, are both interesting but a much higher price point. I wanted to try Kaico first but I may yet think about investing more in the Retrotink.
@@ToughMonkey What about the audio for the Saturn. Are the sound channels in reverse? Most of these adapters play the stereo sound in reverse, so left sound on right speaker and right sound on left speaker.
