    Great explanation of the types of light. My favourite is the morning golden hour just before the sun comes over the horizon. Also, there are terms called 'dawn' and 'dusk', where do these fit in on your chart? Many thanks!

    when you pick a spot with the red pin at a place you have never been to, how do you know the terrain will let you get to that place and also how do you find that specific spot if it is just a rocky area or difficult to traverse? Great video. Thank you so much.

    • @PhotoPills
      @PhotoPills  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Theodore, you can change the map type to terrain to better understand topography. To find the Red Pin position, you can turn on your location on the map. Tap the (+) map button and then tap the button with an arrow point icon. A blue circle will appear on the map, right were you are (the gps). Then you can walk till the blue circle is centered at the bottom of the Red Pin (where it digs the ground).

    If I have a range of mountains to the west of my location, I assume that the golden hour and blue hour will be different from what PhotoPills indicates. So, is it then a case of just noting the time when the sun dips below the mountains, and doing a bit of simple maths to adjust the Golden hour and blue hour times to suit my local situation? Would those times differ much throughout the seasons?

    • @PhotoPills
      @PhotoPills  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      No, the Golden Hour and Blue Hour times will remain the same. The colors in the sky depend on the elevation of the sun above the horizon. What will happen if you are surrounded by mountains is that you'll be in shadow instead of light, but the colors in the sky will remain the same. We'll publish a new video soon on how to calculate the sunrise or sunset times when you are surrounded by mountains :)

    Very good information! Thank you! This app is really powerful, I'm looking forward to making the most of it. Is it possible to download information for offline use in the app? For instance, if I'm scouting a location, it would be good to be a able to have offline info for that location downloaded so I can explore certain compositions on site. Is that possible?

    • @PhotoPills
      @PhotoPills  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      At the moment we don't include off-line maps. But in the field you can use the Augmented Reality views to plan your shots :)

    Hi! Why did you guys colored the part of the golden hour between 0 and - 4 degrees in blue as for the blue hour? Why can"t you keep the golden hour color all the way from 6 down to -4 degrees and just keep the blue color for the blue hours (-4 to -6). This is some kind misleading in the app planner too.
    Thanks!👍

    • @PhotoPills
      @PhotoPills  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's a good point. It's because we represent the part of the golden hour above 0 degrees and then the 3 twilights (civil, nautical and astronomical).

    Can you set in app alarm for golden hour?
    Thanks

    • @PhotoPills
      @PhotoPills  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Not for every day, but you can add a reminder in the calendar for a specific day. For example, open PhotoPills, tap the "Sun" tool. Then tap the Golden Hour time you'd like to set an alarm to move time to that moment. Then tap "Action" > "Add to calendar".
