Awesome advice.. we give free choice baking soda to all our goat and sheep flocks. These animals are pretty smart they know how much to eat and when to eat it.
Hello my dad bought two goats twins I think one by girl one boy they are 4 or 5 months but the boy eats good when it comes but now doesn't eat anything plss tell me what to do.
It should be given free choice. Meaning you place a bucket or container of it in their barn and let them eat it as they want or need. Then refill as it gets consumed.
Baking soda is a well known nutrient blocker & stops the absorption of essential nutrients & goats should not have access to it all the time. It does have its place in goat care; in spring when there is lots of fresh lush green feed coming through then yes allow them access to it but monitor their intake. It can cause diarrhea
Hi! How much do your goats take by themselfs? I noticed one of my goats is eating it like candy en doesn’t stop till the bucket is empty 😅 Another goat doesn’t take a lot but is bloated a little bit. Do you have tips?
Yes it is a well known nutrient blocker & stops the absorption of essential nutrients. It does have a place in goat care but not how you see alot of people using it. @@jbsprojects8186 then the answer is no they don't need it especially considering it negatively affects the vitamin b1 in the gut. Absolutely no they don't need it at all.
@@jbsprojects8186 nothing I’ve read or watched when doing my own research medically or scientifically proves it is beneficial to them. It may be a temporary fix but there’s no benefits in it.

I was advised by TWO different vets not to give my goats baking soda. It does absolutely nothing for them as we think. Both vets also raise goats.
This is correct. Goats do not need baking soda. The rumen balances its own pH.
