Lovely film, which brought back happy memories. A light and airy station, with, in the 1960s, a wealth of polished brass - and gurgling tanks in the gents loo. Our local station (until it closed) was Hailsham, but my grandfather was an engine driver based at Eastbourne. One always knew when one had arrived at Eastbourne by the terribly 'refained' accent of the female station announcer.
Super video about Eastbourne, can't say I've ever been. A busy little station. As usual a very informative film. Well done Mr Boogie, hope you enjoyed your little break. Stay safe 🤓💙
All the train services from Hastings to Brighton or Victoria and vice versa have to call at Eastbourne and then travel back out. The first station from Eastbourne is Hampden Park which is just before the junction for Brighton/Hastings, this means that each train passes through Hampden Park twice, the level crossing there is rumoured to be the busiest in Europe and the resultant queues are horrendous.
Eastbourne is a bit odd, fun thing about it is that there’s probably space to slap in a few platforms, since in the timetable changes in June or July there may be more services
The Cuckoo line closure is a great example of hindsight, the towns it used to serve are in desperate need of better transport services, we have a regular bus service but with rapid growth of housing and no direct link to the capital it is sorely missed
The need for a relief to the Brighton Main Line and the short distance between Uckfield and the line between Cooksbridge and Lewes should make the case for building a connection a no brainer. I sometimes think that the ability to understand a map has been lost in the corridors of power.
I think that Southern should retain the Class 171 Turbostars but to replace the Class 313s as what Great Northern have done with replacing the Class 313s on the Moorgate "Northern City" Line when the Class 717 Desiro City came into service in 2019.

« See it, say it, sort it », I Admire the conciseness of English language. In French it would take a whole paragraph!
I like the dual language guidebooks where the French takes a page and a half and the English is one paragraph to say the same thing.
Union? must that be Joual for coupling..?

Economical reasons are to be blamed for the declining of British Railway!?
