  • My wife was rear-ended in our 2018 GMC Yukon XL in July 2023 and the guilty party’s insurance was Geico.
It took 2 months to get the vehicle into the body shop and Classic Collision in Wasilla was where we ended up taking it.
They gave us an estimate of ~$9k and first installled a new bumper but called us 2 weeks later saying that they wouldn’t be able to get the sensors for the bumper in for an indefinite amount of time due to GM strikes. They assured us the vehicle was structurally sound to drive but that it just wouldn’t have the lane change and backup sensors working.
We didn’t hear back from them until March the following year when they told us the sensors came in and they could finish the repair.
During that time the bumper came loose on the same side the accident had caused it to come loose on. I found some stripped clips and a broken bracket so I had to put in an extra screw to hold the bumper on.
When we got the vehicle in the second time Classic collision claimed we had to have been in another accident and they would not work on it unless we filed another claim. Mackenzie Stedman from Classic treated my wife like a liar and then said she would have to speak with Geico.
After the Geico agent basically yelled at my wife on the phone for 20 minutes and then me for another 15 minutes refusing to consider any other possibility we were forced to go pick up our vehicle.
They gave us “the rest of the needed parts” they had received so we could “figure it out” on our own.
After removing the bumper I found some manufacturing defects and that the box of “new sensors” contained some new pieces and several broken pieces from the original bumper but still not enough parts to finish the job.
