    Interestingly in part of this clip Churchill memorably and correctly says "you cannot reason with a tiger when your head is in it's mouth" Hitler held similar views when the war started to go against Germany and he was asked to try and negotiate with the Russians

    Have read three biographies on him by various British authors, and would like to see the complete movie . What I admire about him is, that he had four daughters and a son. Never disloyal to his wife which was reciprocated equally. Gave freedom to his daughters to have all opportunities for education.

      Boy, I tell you, those liberals are like glutens! Any food that’s bad for you probably has glutens. Anything else that’s bad is probably caused by liberals. Hitler was probably a liberal. @@maximvorobev3978 Lol, he was like in 40's or 50's in 1940, who wouldnt be racist haha it always makes me laugh when people in 2020 are like he was racist blah blah, basically if you start judging people by modern terms for all previous years you would hate most people ever, it was quite normal to have such race views back then. Regardless of his views on race (which did change btw over the years) he stood up to fascism and rallied a nation against Nazi Germany on which a lot of people wanted to sue for peace, this action alone allowed for the UK to go onto a path to win the battle for Britain and along with allies entering the war later on victory, which wouldn't have been possible without the UK, this gave all these other races a world in which can enjoy freedom today, which would have been gassed by Germany. So point still stands, he was and is the greatest man of the 20th century.

    I have always been a big fan of Gary Oldman because he becomes the character or the person he is portraying like nobody else's business! He finally got his first Oscar for this role which was so great it made me realize just how important Winston Churchill was at that time!
    In some ways there are similarities with Winston Churchill and Donald Trump. Although the political establishment like Churchill did not want him, and like Churchill unfortunately he spoke when he should not have but he got the job done.

    The Queen of England does not have direct power but the British Monarch has the right to meet with the Prime Minister once a week. They can call for or meetings if they want to.
    That's called power of influence because they talk about more than just the weather at those meetings

      Joseph Carl Breil I suppose that the plot points of him drinking champagne for lunch and smoking top quality cigars are enough to show that he got to enjoy much better material goods than the rations of ordinary civilians. :)

    • @caseyjoanz
      @caseyjoanz 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Joseph Carl Breil -I’d always heard Champagne was his staple, but I doubt he’d reject that martini. As a Cuban cigar aficionado I was curious what his preference was for the Noble Smoke. Cubans may have been unavailable (war truly IS hell!), but a good Honduran? A world without St Cristobals is not worth defending. I’m sure he knew that.

      What I was going at is seeing that if Honduras was a British colony, then the UK would absolutely be importing cigars from there at a reduced price, though both Honduran and Cuban products would probably be threatened by the German submarine fleet, anyway.

      The idea that Churchill was in any way ‘responsible’ or ‘caused’ the Bengal famine is of course absurd. The real cause was the fall of Burma to the Japanese, which cut off India’s main supply of rice imports when domestic sources fell short, which they did in Eastern Bengal after a devastating cyclone in mid-October 1942. It is true that Churchill opposed diverting food supplies and transports from other theaters to India to cover the shortfall: this was wartime.

    • @satyajitkasar359
      @satyajitkasar359 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@marktill1197 This argument itself is absurd. Since, Churchill himself admitted in his cabinet that if famine can lead to hunger & death to Indians why Gandhi is still alive?
      Even he went on to argue that the famine was mainly due spreading of rats in grain godowns.
