Reference tracks are key. investigating professional mixes with a reference plugin or a simple eq with bandpas, high pass and lo pass filter will help you understand how each part of the frequency spectrum sound on a great mix.
Yeah, this way you don't necessarily even have to spend weeks or months, or years, "learning your room" or "learning your speakers" that much. It's an instant feendback and you'll be able to figure out what you may need to do with your own mix.
Awesome video! Such an important topic. I had never thought about placing the kick or bass at the low end, but now it feels like the most natural thing in the world. Tried it with a song I'm working on and it immediately made a pretty huge difference to how tight the low end sounds on good headphones.
Really intersting and good video. This tip about cutting below 60Hz on kick or bass. Does that apply to dance music as well? Seems like a dangdrous move😅 much appreciated video! Ha det gött!
Think (hope) I emulated the pro MB effect there but bound to have screwed something up so a video on those comp and expansion settings would be very welcome!
Great quick tutorial and interesting concepts - and, as you say, it all boils down to practice, practice practice... if we all had your ears & experience, we'd be well away!! 😏
Thank you! I'm glad to hear that and appreciate you being part of the channel. That's a good question and something I should have mentioned. What I usually do is bring up the threshold until the reduction meter is barely moving. It still activates momentarily here and there throughout the song. Then, I increase it just a little bit more and keep it there. The goal is to maintain it just above the sub-material level, not too far away, so it's ready to kick in if the subs suddenly increase. Does that make sense?
This was very interesting, especially the info about the sub and low mids connection and how you can shift the energy! I reckon you do the small dips in the low mids with subtractive EQ on a track by track basis and not on the different instrument busses, or?
Yes, that is also another method. I believe they are all equally as important, and part of the whole. As I said towards the video, these were just a few concepts and this is of course a massive topic. So, will cover more low-end tips in other videos. I didn't want to cover everything in one video :)

@@seitsen it will definitely be a faster road to understanding and most importantly a more efficient way of learning sounds.

That manely mic is so killer. I love it. How are the Barefoot Speakers?
Hey man, thanks for watching! Yes love both the Manley and the Bearfoots...of coursr, pricey but totally worth it:) Hope all is well!
Very nice video!
Thank you!:)
Good tutorial. Just a question. How do you set your threshold particularly for the "sleeping" multiband compressor.
Thank you! I'm glad to hear that and appreciate you being part of the channel.

Thank YOU for being part of the channel:) Have a great day!
Useful tips thanks, although we could do without the distracting stock footage 😉
Wow nice video
Thank you:) Hope all is well and thanks for being part of the channel...
Ayyyy yoooo
Did you win a Grammy?
Hi Jose, hope you are well! Yes, 3 Latin Grammys..for my work with Jesse y Joy :) Thanks for being part of the channel.
Should I mix only until I become master? Can I then start mastering when I'm a master? 😂
An even better method for making your bass more audible is to use R bass or something fabfilter saturn to saturate the higher frequencies

You need to do both! 🙂👍
I guess there's no pretty way to put this, but my lower end can use a hand.
Haha😄
Yes - my other half’s fat low end needs tightening too! Doesn’t stop me loving her though…
It's all about the empty ☕️
Haha;) Hope you are well, T
