How cute!!!!! I have a storing question. Once your done (and let’s say your cake is being dropped off the next day) is it ok to put it in the cooler/refrigerator? I’ve been told not to put it in the cooler but I also dont want my cake and frosting to get saggy.
Hi! I store mine at room temperature, I have a cabinet in my living room where I keep them out of harms way (It's in one of my vlogs) I don't refridgerate mine at all xx
This is Sooo pretty.. the way you put those tiny little pink bushes those were beautiful. And then the miniature carrots those were adorable! Every thing is perfect! Could you cover a video on getting those perfect cake layers in order for a cake to be even from the sides? How long have you been doing this art? I would never be able to create the figure so impeccably right next to the one.
Hi Naina! Thank-you so much for the comment. I have been making cakes since I was 13! And I'm now 30. I use a ProFroster to get my sides straight, I'll pop the link here: th-cam.com/video/LmI4fXvL4k0/w-d-xo.html
Hello my friend! I absolutely love making and decorating cakes, I only have ever worked with buttercream though, never fondant or gum paste. Since watching all of your videos like 20 times each lol you have inspired me to give it a try, your art is so amazing. I ordered everything you use down to the same brand since you make it look so so easy. I am having a bit of trouble and hope you could give me some advice on what I'm doing wrong. I know it will take loads of practice I wasn't expecting to have mine look like yours anytime soon lol. First question would be about the tylo powder I added some amd it was still sticky so I added more and it almost started to get crackle due to being so hard, is there a round about amount you use? I love aunt Jemima so I was focusing on her it seemed like after I put her shawl on and continued for a bit it was starting to dry up and get fragile. I also wanted to ask if the water ever makes your pieces soggy? I know this is very long but I would really appreciate it if you could give me so pointers. Thank you for all your hard work and taking the time to read my comment. Have a fantastic day😊
Oh wow! How lovely you've been inspired to try a new medium! Yes it does take some getting used to, I dont use specific amounts, you kind of get used to the 'feel' of the paste over time. Try adding some powder, kneading it in and leaving it wrapped up in a bag for an hour or so to let the powder activate. Once you take it out and knead it you'll know if it needs a little bit more if it's still too soft. You'll get the hang of it in no time. Yes, you only need to dampen the brush as too much water does more harm than good, definitely wipe the brush off a little once you dunk it in the water :D xxxx
Brilliant as usual and sooo neat! Interesting that you don't use gel colours very often..... I've always thought using pre-coloured fondant isn't cost effective (only 250g packets available here), except for black and red. However, it probably saves time and stained hands haha (I can spend hours colouring fondant on multi-coloured cakes). Love the lime green :) x x
Oh yes, saves lots of time!! And sometimes too much gel can alter the paste and make it more sticky/softer. It probably isn't cost effective, but it works for the lazy ones ;) hahaha xxx
