Thank you for letting us share your adventurer in the bush. You had a great fire area, and a good amount of firewood backed up for it. Good to see you using the magnesium bar. I don't know why many people are saying it's not a good piece of gear. I've used one quite extensively for years and have no problem with them. In wet conditions, that is probably the best way to get a fire going. Thanks again for another great video. Keep them coming my friend. Take care and God bless
Thank you so much for your support, I really appreciate it. Yes, staying and being Prepared in the Bush is essential. And learning how to use all tools is also essential. Stay Safe
I was watching an overnighter in the forest with a handful of wood .. .. The one giveaway for me that they didn't stay out and had never stayed out overnight was the lack of wood preparation. It just stands out in your video , days of prep. ..
I may get in trouble for saying this but i mean this in the most respectful way possible... I see a lot of these videos and i can't recall one made by an African American. Im not racist at all either so i dont want this to come across like that in the least. I think its great because so far its just a bunch of crazy white guys freezing their ass off in the forest. Its nice to see some diversity 🤷 Outdoor skills and interest is for everyone. Some of the most ingenius hunting and survival techniques come from Africa to begin with but you never really see any African Americans doing these videos. Excellent job by the way, very informative and down to Earth. You definitely have one more subscriber 👍👍
Hello Jay and thanks for dropping in, much appreciated. Jay, I fully understand and not offended in any way. I just think it is just me trying to connect with Nature. I just adore the fire crackling and popping and just trying to be self-reliance. The only other African American I've seen is, "Wild Boy Ril", but haven't seen him lately. I'm glad you like the video and most of all, Stay Safe.
Rowan, thanks for your Support, much appreciated. Yup, I wanted to be more cognizant of leaves around the fire pit so I made sure they were at least 10 ft away from the 🔥. Glad you liked it! Stay Safe
That is an interesting tarp with the reflective interior surface . And nice design setup. In heat of summer I guess it could be used in reverse 🤷🏻 lots of things to try.
Yeah, for the summer the tarp can be reversed to reflect the heat away. I like tarps because there are so many different configurations, and they are very portable. Stay Safe.
Thanks Karen, will do! I really appreciate you checking out my channel. I like to share what I learn in the Bush. Stay Tuned and most of all, Stay Safe
Hello Nomadic, thanks for your Support. Yup, knots are super important. I try a different one each time I go to the Bush. Let's just keep practicing! Stay Safe
So you said a few things I disagree with. First off, towards the end of your video, you said you were "practicing" things you've done before. I disagree, you Sir were "perfecting" what you've done before as you did it well. Second, you said nothing gets better than sitting next to a fire. Again, I disagree, as what could make it better is good company with you so thank you for taking us along on the journey. Well done, my friend, it was really fun to watch while eating my dinner. Speaking of eating, I'm a meat eater, hands down, but those burgers actually did look pretty good!
Thanks for dropping in Adventureswithken; much appreciated. Yup, you're right, "Perfecting instead of Practicing". And I feel I still need to Perfect it even more. And yes, you guys are "Great" company. I really do learn a lot from some of the comments. I'm glad you liked the video and enjoy your meat. Stay Safe my Friend.
Bob, thanks so much for your Support, much appreciated. I'm glad you like the shelter; I studied it for a while and that was my second time setting it up. The knife is a Condor Terrasaur, very similar to the Mora. I'm always trying to improve. Stay Safe my Friend.
Thanks for joining in Spencer, much appreciated. I was hunting for Deer, and on Public Land it is basically a draw of the luck. That area is so High Pressured. Stay Safe.
Why a “pit” for the fire ? What’s the advantages in terms of heat distribution etc ? A normal leveled fire secured with some rocks would have allowed you to add the end of those huge logs without sawing ?
Hello Arvinappaya. Thanks for dropping by; much appreciated. The purpose of the Fire Pit is to help contain/manage the fire; less likely to get out of control. And to collect the ashes to make a bank of earth to help keep the fire confined. Also, by piling up the dirt to make a bank wall when digging it out, it directs heat to you. I would have liked to have some rocks to help me avoid sawing, but in that area, there isn't any rocks that I've seen. It is just dampest everywhere. Stay Safe.
Hello James, thanks for dropping in; much appreciated. I purchased the tarp online from Texas Bushcraft and it is 10ft x 10ft. The prices was around $90 or so. Stay Safe.

This was a great video. I loved watching it, but I have a question that’s way off topic from the video. What kind of music do you enjoy listening to?
Hello Outdoors. Thanks for dropping in; much appreciated. I basically listen to R&B. Stay Safe.
Better to have it and not use it, than to need it and not having it.
Much agreed, Sir. Stay Safe and keep your videos rolling.
I love seeing different channels that I watch commenting on and watching other channels I enjoy.
@adventureswithken1983 Howdy Ken! Small world isn't it? I prefer channels that aren't trying to sell me anything. Just sharing good to know info.
@GrandFatherOutdoors I'd rather support the small guys and watch them grow!
@adventureswithken1983 Agreed
What were you hunting for? Love your videos btw.
Thanks for joining in Spencer, much appreciated. I was hunting for Deer, and on Public Land it is basically a draw of the luck. That area is so High Pressured. Stay Safe.
@thevirginiabushcrafter8833 yeah, it can get really tough to hunt on public land. Good luck on the next hunt.
